There was no overhead lighting. The ceiling is black. We were brought out one basket old broken chips. We requested a fresh batch. Our waiter was very dismissive and said that it was coming. It came out 20 minutes later. We had to ask for drinks. We had to ask for them to take our order. Our waiter was trash; he didn't write anything down. I had to tell him three times no cheese. When the food came out, he forgot my order and my boyfriend's extra order of tacos. Whereas, an all white family walks in. Party of 5. They were seated in the table in front of us. They were given a table that was under a well bright lit area. They immediately received two baskets of full fresh chips. Their waiter immediately got their drinks orders and placed them. They were immediately had their orders taken and everything was brought out at the same time. They were constantly checked on. I looked around the whole restaurant. They placed large parties (5+) near the restroom if they were black, but any other race they give them tables that was well lit with multiple lights not around the restroom or pay station. The food is okay, nothing to write home about, but the service is piss poor for black people. You'll get amazing service if you are white. I witnessed it. We were never checked on. We had to ask for the tab. By the way, the last location that they had was very dark. This newer location was not any better. So much for the remodel.

My wife ordered vegetarian fajitas with flour tortillas, no guacamole and no beans, with a side order of French fries. I ordered Cilantro Enchiladas with flour tortillas. Our server had an attitude from the onset. When we requested water and lemon, one with ice and the other with no ice he acted annoyed. We received our food and the French fries were not done and there was no sour cream as my wife had ordered. My enchiladas were in corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas. I sent them back and my wife sent her half-cooked French Fries back. By this time the manager had been apprised that there was a problem with the food. He brought the fries back and they were still uncooked and looked like the portion had been cut in half. The flour cilantro enchiladas hardly had any cilantro or tomatoes, onions, jalapeños stuffed in the enchiladas. I called the manager over and showed him the paltry amount of food and the uncooked fries. He told us "you ordered this and you're going to pay for it"! And grabbed his phone like he was going to call the police. We sat there and waited for the police to come. He brought the receipt for $26 and some change and said this is what you owe. I told him we didn't receive what we ordered and that we were not paying for the horrible food brought to us and the service from a waiter that had "rocks in his jaws" the entire time he was serving us. The Manager then began telling us we came there to start trouble and to get out and never come back as he didn't want business from people like us. What was he "implying" that being Black he didn't want our business any longer? We left the restaurant and got into our car. The food was below satisfactory and the service and treatment by management was disappointing and unprofessional. I would never recommend anyone to go to a Los Parrilleros restaurant in Clinton, MS.

The complimentary chips were thick and cold--I much prefer them thin, crisp, and ideally warm when they hit the table. The salsa itself was disappointing too: thick, plain, and more like tomato sauce than the fresh, zesty dip I was hoping for. Service also had a hiccup--I was charged for extra pico and sour cream that never arrived. Not the end of the world, but frustrating nonetheless. All in all, while my meal was tasty and my son enjoyed his birthday, I can't say I had the complete Mexican dining experience I look forward to. I'll give Salsa's another shot next year, but for now, it's not at the top of my list.

This was literally my first visit back since the pandemic and I was a little excited to go, especially since it was Cinco De Mayo. We were a party of 4 and sadly the service wasn't good. We placed our order well before some larger parties and others who came after us and after watching them get their food, we asked about ours. Our server never came back out of the kitchen until much later but we did finally get our food. They did apologize but never said what the issue was. Despite the issue with service, our food was good. I ordered the spinach enchilada Suizas which had a spicy kick to them. I liked them. Would have loved them if it wasn't for that extra kick. The spinach was also not wilted as it is when I've ordered this dish from other restaurants. The drinks were ok too. Nothing to get excited about but I'm willing to bet they were just a little watered down due to the special day. I am going back because it's a local spot that I've enjoyed in the past.

Decided to order a Burrito with Asada (Steak) and Pollo (Chicken) with double meat, told them I didn't mind paying extra for both. Positives on the location - it was clean, and I love their condiment bar. My wait time for the burrito was so/so, and I say that considering what I paid for it, what I received portion-wise, and the quality of the wrap. I paid around $16 for the burrito, so I was expecting a nice stuffed burrito that was wrapped tightly. To my dismay, it wasn't. In regards to the wrap, it was comparable to something I would receive from Taco Bell - so that caught me off guard, considering this was supposed to be an authentic taqueria. Back to the positives. Now the taste of the burrito was spot on - the asada and pollo were well seasoned, and the quality of the ingredients was spot on. I just wish there was more bang for my buck for the portion I received, and the wrap of the burrito was better. Ambiance - average considering this is a taqueria-type establishment. So the ambiance is not bad, but no need to dress up in a tuxedo to get some tacos and/or a torta. I will close out on this. We have a lot of cantinas/taqueria that have opened in the Jackson metro area, and that is a great thing. However, I grew up in Chicago and Cleveland, where our taquerias/cantinas make mean burritos, and it appears that many of the cantinas and food trucks down here are not trying to wow us in that regard down here. Not saying I won't go back, but I think there's room for improvement. The taste of the food was phenomenal, I hope they can step their game up in the future. I would give them 3.5 stars - but since yelp only lets you give whole stars, I will give them a solid 3. The pastor had that perfect balance of char and spice, while the birria was rich and comforting, dripping just enough to make you lean in over the plate. The real surprise was how much attention went into the small details. The salsas had actual heat, not just color, and they didn't drown out the flavor of the meat. The pineapple agua fresca I ordered on the side was bright and refreshing, a perfect balance to the heaviness of the tacos. Service felt easy and genuine. Nobody was rushing me, nobody was going through the motions, it just had that friendly, neighborhood vibe where you feel like they're glad you stopped in.
