Tried this place recently and had a mixed experience. The service was pretty slow, and our waitress didn't really check on us during the meal -- she only asked how everything was at the very end. I ordered the fried goat on the side and was a little disappointed because it had a lot of fat and didn't have much flavor and it didn't come with the red sauce I had to ask for it. The legume with beef was good, although there wasn't a lot of beef in it. The black rice was really good, and the fried banana was absolutely delicious -- probably my favorite part of the meal. Just a warning: the pikliz was VERY spicy. Overall, some items were enjoyable, but the service and a few food issues made the experience hit or miss for me. read more

We decided randomly on Sunday to finally try Pibonan restaurant. Lucky we got there just before it became busy. This restaurant is super cute inside, our waiter was nice and the food was good. Only thing I wish was that the wait time for our food wasn't so long of a wait. read more

The food is amazing, no doubt about it. However, the service extremely slow. I waited for almost an hour and a half to even receive my drink. Then waited another 30 minutes to receive the food. I came with a group and they put the orders in separately. So while some of us go our food the other half had to wait 30 minutes to get theirs. Some of the staff has an attitude other then that the food is delicious but you will wait over 45 minutes to receive your food, honestly, it's all about if you're willing to wait. Good if you have company but bad if you're really hungry. read more

1-Star Review (because I can't give 0 for service) Let me just start by saying this: the food at this Haitian restaurant is phenomenal--absolutely mouthwatering, rich with flavor, and clearly made with love. Unfortunately, the same love did not make it to the front of house. The service? An utter disaster. I've had better communication with my WiFi router during a power outage. I walked in, stood there awkwardly for about 10 minutes before someone even acknowledged my existence--and not with a greeting, but with a death stare that made me wonder if I accidentally insulted their ancestors. I asked for a menu and was met with a heavy sigh, like I'd just requested them to recite the Iliad in Creole. Waiting for the food felt like I was part of a social experiment on patience. No updates, no water, no check-ins. Just vibes. Angry ones. To top it off, when I politely asked if I could get my order to go (after waiting an eternity), the server rolled her eyes so hard I thought she might pass out. I eventually got my food, no utensils, no napkins, just a brown paper bag with God's gift to cuisine stuffed inside it. A sacred meal delivered like contraband. So, if you're okay being emotionally neglected, gaslit by glares, and treated like an inconvenience in exchange for some of the best Haitian food you'll ever taste--congratulations, you've found your spot. The service wasn't too bad either, you just gotta put some hair on your chest and chase them down. Alright ladies and gents I am happy to tell you that there is a quality Haitian restaurant in Holbrook and it is Pibaonan. Service is quick and the food arrived promptly. The decor is cute. I have tried several Haitian restaurants from neighboring cities and this is up there in terms of the quality of the food. It is a bit more expensive than it's competitors. If your tired of restaurants using frozen meat and frozen food where they just re heat for you and charge you a price like it's made from scratch, than give this place a try. The kitchen service was unacceptably slow. We waited 45mins from ordering and watched tables that came in 15 or more minutes after us get served. There were also bags and bags of takeout food on the counter waiting to be picked up. We ended up leaving as we got so frustrated about the slow service in the dining room and the lack of any of the staff letting us know when our food would arrive. When we politely enquired when our food would arrive we got told 5 minutes. 15 minutes later still no food. It's a shame because the the food looked awesome. We would like to go there again to try the food but will not until we see many more positive reviews regarding the kitchen service. For these reasons 2 stars. read more
