Been anxious to try Piatto since I saw it on you gotta eat here...I have to agree with Catucci. Delicious pizza with great crust. I had the spicy one and my daughter has the Hawaiian. Will definitely be back to try a few more or the different pizzas on the menu. Great service as well. read more

I was there again last night, and brought another newbie with me. Everyone I bring loves it, because the pizza and service is excellent! I cant say enough about this place, everybody really needs to go there. They now have soup at lunch and have added desserts to the menu. My new favorite thing is the addition of the "pizza of week". read more

I've been in a lot of pizzerias in many cities. I haven't had a better Margherita anywhere. They have a birch-fired ceramic pizza oven that cranks them out; unless it's really busy service is fast. No reservations but they do have a smartphone-based notification system; if there are no tables available you can be wait listed, go have a drink at one of the myriad bars in the area, and receive a text when there's a table available. I do takeout a lot, but if you have the time to eat in, the pizza is much better on a plate straight from the oven than from a cardboard box. Fast and friendly service. read more

Piatto is cozy little spot with a great little dining room where you can actually watch the cooks prepare and cook your pizza in a wood stove, old school style. Definitely adds to the appeal of a place when you can see it's actually gourmet and not just stamped on the take out box. Not your average pizza place, especially in a city like St. john's where 95% of pizza is ordered from a local take out spot, doughy and covered in grease. Piatto is a thin crusted, oven baked and offer both "red" and "white" pizzas, and some very unique toppings. (ex; "The Stephanie" was topped with caramelized pears.) Appetizer salad portions were massive, a meal sized one at any other restaurant, so be warned of that if you're not going in extremely hungry. The only downside I can really note on was the fact the menu didn't seem to have any price written on it, now I could be mistaken but after reading it a couple of times I couldn't find it. And I was treated to my dinner the night I've gone there so I wouldn't even be able to tell you if it was a more expensive place to eat. The menu is also very, Italian. It might be a little difficult to read, I know I had trouble and people sitting at the table with us were even pointing to the menu at what they wanted to order because they couldn't pronounce the names. So if something a little more cultured is what you're hungry for, Piatto definitely has it all for you. read more

Rare is it that you visit a restaurant and the high Yelp rating is totally deserved. This is one such place. The pizza is as authentic as authentic gets - they even have certification from Naples. Lots of choices from red sauce to white to pesto sauce pizzas. It's pizzas only in addition to some appetizers. But that means that they can focus on what they do. They also had interesting drink offers. My wife had the 3 mini wine sampler while I had a Negronj. Ambiance is lovely and the service is typically warm like anywhere in Atlantic Canada. read more

A birthday dinner with family for 11-year old - Piatto was her choice. Very good choice. Excellent service and server fully engaged with the spirit of our day. Very interesting varieties and unique menu. Everyone loved their choices and deserts. Restaurant had a unique feel to it with the decor and pictures. Certainly well worth it and highly recommend for an "authentic" pizza in St. John's Thank you read more

Great pizza place, it has a lot of character, well decorated and good service. Their Itilian style pizzas are very good and their crushed red peppers are actually hot unlike other places! read more

Great pizza, atmosphere and pretty decent wine list! Pizza is a thin crust style but the beauty part is the large wood fired oven in the back that churns out authentic Italian pizzas in quicktime. Tried a siciliano pizza and a funghi pizza - beautiful flavours and fresh. Service is incredibly quick.. almost too quick. You can be in and out in a half hour, with a salad and pizza. Only downside was the caprese salad... could have done with vine ripened tomatoes. The ones tonight were flavourless and made the salad less enjoyable. Hopefully will change with Spring. read more

My wife and I have been looking for a good pizza place since we moved to St. John's in Sept '10. While I prefer New York style pizza over Neopolitan style pizza, this place is definitely a winner in my books (although the search continues for good New York pizza). We ordered Prosciutto Pacchi (mozzarella wrapped in prociutto and done in tomato sauce) to start, which was amazing. I believe there were two of them, which was perfect for my wife and I. We also ordered Napolitana Foccacia, which I think we would skip next time, since it seemed to be the same dough recipe as the pizza. We ordered the Siciliani (mozzarella, spicy Italian sausage, prosciutto, roasted red peppers and parmigiano) minus the red peppers to split between us. It was quite good, and it was more than enough for the two of us (the two appetizers might have had something to do with that) but I think we'll probably try something different next time. Finally we had a lemon tart for dessert, which my wife loved, but I wasn't a huge fan of (mainly because I'm not a huge lemon dessert guy). The service was great, although they did try to give us the wrong pizza at first (it belonged to the people next to us). The atmosphere is really nice too, just a intimate litte place where you can sit and watch them make your pizza, and just hang out. They seem to have an extensive wine list for such a small place, but neither my wife nor I drink, so I can't comment on that too much. read more

Really love the pizza at Piatto. Every time I go, it seems to get better and better! Enjoyed the Margherita-- can't go wrong with the simplicity of this lovely pizza. Other faves include the Siciliani and Prosciutto e Arugula. Tiramisu and Limoncello tart are good choices for desert... enjoyed the lemon tart more, to be honest. Wash it all down with the Super Toscana. Enjoy! read more

My current "go to" place when I have a chance to eat out. The pizza is always hot and fresh with a yummy fire roasted crust. Prices are reasonable, can get some nice red wine by the glass. read more

A wonderful and relatively new restaurant in St. John's. Wonderful atmosphere, and more importantly great food - maybe the best pizza I ever had. Great service, attentive, albeit food took a while to arrive. I strongly recommend it. read more

My favorite place we ate on my visit to St. Johns! I've been trying to replicate the Stephanie (goat cheese, prosciutto, pears, and balsamic) ever since. Good service, and surprisingly fast for a pizza place because of their 900º oven that cooks your pizza in 90 seconds. Not just another pizza place. Definitely worth the trip. read more

I tried their pizza Margherita, and it was delicious, authentic Neapolitan style pizza. Will definitely go back.

Best pizza in St Johns! It's great to have an authentic pizza place in town. Great atmosphere and service too!

The lunch special at Piatto is a great deal - $12.99 for a pizza or calzone and salad. The beet and goat cheese salad is delicious and the Stephanie pizza is my favorite - I'm a sucker for goat cheese. The flash cooking results in a perfectly crispy crust. The wine list is a little limited for an enoteca, but they do offer a good special by the glass. read more

Piatto is amazing! I love the atmosphere and decor. Our server was super friendly and very good with gluten free. Piatto just recently introduced gluten free crust and it is definitely one of the best I've ever tried. The pizzas were full of flavour and cooked to perfection. We had the Amanti Della Carne Speziata and Dolce e Fumoso. I highly recommend any pizza lovers to try this place out! read more

I have been here with my partner about 10 times now and it has been consistently excellent. I haven't been to Italy before but this seems as authentic as you can get. They import their flour and San Marzano tomatoes from Italy. All pizzas area baked in a wood fired pizza oven. Two pizza and an appetizer are probably more than we need but leave very satisfied afterwards. Our favourite two pizzas are the Amanti Della Carne and the Salvatorie. The caesar salad is the best too. This place was voted top 20 new restaurant in Canada for a reason! read more

loved it!! the chicken pizza was amazing and the service was great. it s very cozy in place and would recommend it.

Great pizza place, prices are great as well but the fact that you can't make reservations is a big downside. I tried to make a reservation for twelve people for a party but they wouldn't do it. We didn't want to be standing in the lounge waiting so we made reservations somewhere else. read more

Love this pizza and wine makes me happy!!! Every things here What I wanted. Love Vespa scooter there! We will go there again for sure

Delicious, have been here a few times, once with a big group and we had the whole upstairs, would love to go back. Very Authentic, great service. read more

Came here for a lunch date one Sunday. I had the pizza of the day, a chicken sriracha pizza I believe it was, and it was absolutely fabulous. Lovely service and the food was fairly quick getting to us. An excellent option for a cheaper yet still great meal. read more

Upon entering Piatto I was disappointed to see such a cute restaurant cheap out on important furniture like tables and chairs. I was then even more disappointed when the $9 glass of wine I ordered showed up in a tumbler instead of a wine glass. (Really? Why not a stemless wineglass if casual vibe is what they're after) However I'm very happy to say that the sweet friendly server really made up for these downfalls, and the food was great! St. John's is lucky to have a place like this. Hopefully in due time they'll upgrade their seating and glassware. read more

Food was delicious, atmosphere was relaxed but hip, little bit more expensive than your average restaurant meal.

Best place to get authentic or any pizza in St. John's. The price is great considering the quality and the vibe of the restaurant is very relaxed. They definitely have a repeat customer in me! read more

I was very excited to take my husband heer for his 50th. We really did have a nice time, but $100 bux later, we were disappointed. For many reasons, here's why: Seats were extremely crowded together, very loud also. Once we finally got seated, right next to the bar in the back where they cook the food, we ordered. I ordered a coffee and hubby ordered a beer. We planned to order a bottle of wine as the night unfolded. It took FOREVER to get our beer and coffee but, once we finally did get our beverages the appetizers came within seconds...then, our pizza came two seconds later! We hadn't had two sips our our drinks before the app and main course came. Our salads came...before I had the next sip of my drink and no bites of my salad, the pizza came! The little tiny table, stationed right behind bar stools in the back of the restaurant, where patrons where pushing their way through and shoveing our chairs out of the way, was literally being moved and rocked against the wall. It was ridiculous! The pizza was ok...but most of it was dry crust with no toppings, cheese or sauce. What WAS on it was tasty...but there was hardly anything on it! Salads were nice, but I can hardly remember it because I was so overcome with the noice and people banging my chair around as they tried to push around me. I never did finish my coffee as all the food arrived so fast that there was no opportunity to actually experience it...or the app....or the moment of being out with my husband to celebrate his bday. I could handle much of this and take it all in stride, but it cost us $100, and we left feeling as though we didn't actually experience anything. We were bombarded by patoron and the food coming so fast! If we're going to spend $100 for a night out, we'd like to sit back and enjoy it...have a coffee...order a bottle of wine.....enjoy our app and savour every momont, T=this is not the place to do it. I don't think we'll go back ever again. The food was nice but not nice enough to spend that kind of money. We have frequented some high-end restaurants and spent the same kind of money, but with a relaxing environment, time to sit back and talk, and with really great quality food. Again, the pizza and salad were nice, but def not worth this kind of money. If this place ever ups their standards or at least lowers their price, I'll go back to check it out. Overall, not impressed in the least and I felt it was a waste of money. My two cents worth and you can be sure if you read this, you're getting the truth. read more

Great food, great service, unique atmosphere! I am a fan of Piatto's, its good food at great prices. The pizza's are fresh from the oven, the appetizers are varied and authentic, the desserts are exceptional and so is the coffee. The ingredients are imported from Italy and the food is made with care. My only complaint is that I wish they served pasta! I've been here multiple times and loved it each time. Its busy, but the wait times have always been reasonable! read more

Absolutely delicious and great prices! I had a pizza w/ red sauce last time and it was good but next time I'm going to go for the white sauce b/c I think it might be better. read more

By adding four tiny slices of crappy cheese to the Salumeria Piatto, their antipasto plate, the owners think think that they can justify a $4.00 increase in the price of this item. What are they thinking?!? read more

Loved this place food was great waitress was awesome..Had really good service would go again.

Always excellent and it's fun to eat fancy pizza every so often. Sadly they are walk in only on the weekends. So unless you eat at 4pm be prepared to wait at least an hour. read more

Great attention to details & fresh ingredients - a palate's delight!! Also, the service was 'first class'!!

Great atmosphere, amazing pizzas and good service. Will definitely be back. Even my 13 and 11 yr old enjoyed it.

Ate here 3 times during our vacation. Had the bbq pizza, mushroom pizza, salads and dessert. The salads are fresh and the dressing was some of the best I have ever had!!! The pizza was from scratch and rivaled anything we've had anywhere. Truly a gem! read more

Caesar salad, pepperoni pizza and a glass of red - simple meal that was done very well from the greeting through to paying the bill. First time there and definitely won't be the last. Thin crust pizza with a thick rim and no doughy parts - well done Piatto - I'll be back next time I'm in town and will be spreading the good word. read more

Always a great idea to eat here! Love the app allowing us to go have a drink anywhere while we wait for a table.

Ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer and the Stephanie for my entrée. The food was delicious. The only thing I would say is that the service is inconsistent. The server didn't tell us the specials when she came to take our order. As we were leaving we saw the specials board and there was actually a pizza on there my friend would have ordered. read more

The food was ok, but totally not worth the price...I found the whole place to be a bit pretentious to be honest...but I did try to go back a 2nd time, but they won't take reservations. Honestly, what restaurant turns away a party of 15?! Don't think I'll bother with it again read more
