Huston Performing Arts in Placentia is an amazing performing arts program!…read more We were first introduced to them when they came to our elementary school and produced Seussical and Annie. I expected basic elementary school productions, but I was so surprised and impressed by how professional they were and by the performances of all the students. That experience led us to sign my eight-year-old grandson up for their summer production of James and the Giant Peach, and it was one of the best decisions we could have made. Kris Huston and her team truly focus on teaching the fundamentals of musical theater. The students aren't just learning their parts--they're learning real theater skills and what goes into putting on a quality production. I've watched my grandson grow and polish his skills through these three productions, while gaining confidence and, most importantly, having so much fun. You can see that same growth and training reflected in the wonderful performances of all the students. I look forward to watching him continue with Huston Performing Arts and seeing his skills and love for theater grow over the years. I highly recommend this program to any family looking for a place where their child can truly learn the craft of theater and love doing it!

I went inside alone and seen that it was truly empty so I begged my child to come in. He did! He needed a new flute and Moises was so good dealing with my son's special needs. He was so patient and invited us into a private sound proof room to try out the different flutes. He was so patient and not only let but encouraged my son to try every single flute & piccolo! We ended up not only leaving with a flute, but also a piccolo AND A NEW FRIEND IN MOISES. Moises I still to this day feel so blessed about that encounter and we will never forget that experience. You are forever etched in our hearts! Thank you for going above and beyond for us! Praying many blessings come your way. Thanks forever!

Dr. Park is a wonderfully skilled teacher, my son has been taking lessons with him for 3 yrs now…read more He has a way with students, thru his teaching methods, to unlock their ability to understand piano as a beautiful instrument telling a musical story. He teaches students young and old and at all stages. My son left another teacher that was more insistent on scales and harsh critique - which started to turn him away from piano, to now really enjoying it. I highly recommend this very kind, gifted and technically skilled teacher.

We had a poor experience from start to end unfortunately…read more I had called and left three voicemails over the span of two weeks, different days and different times. I never got a call back, and I decided to try once more where I finally got someone and booked a session. (Our other local music school was relocating farther from us, and my daughter really wanted lessons.) Our lessons were.. okay. They didn't always start promptly and they were usually in tiny, hot rooms big enough for one small folding chair (plus instrument and standing student with teacher). We tried it out for a couple months and it was not for us. When canceling, they assured me it would be okay, but of course they continued to charge us the following months. I called, and again no return messages. I called again, spoke to someone and they said James would call me back, but not a word since two weeks ago. I had to dispute the charges with my card, but save yourself the effort I went through and seek lessons elsewhere.

He asked what I needed, and I explained that my acoustic guitar had a broken peg tuner. I already had the replacement part with me, so I handed it over. Instead of jumping straight into recommendations or upselling, he immediately tried to fix it on the spot. Once he confirmed it was repairable, he quickly cut the string, replaced the tuner, and got everything back in place. The whole process took less than 10 minutes! I live in Carson, so driving out to Lakewood and getting it fixed the same day was such a relief. This guitar isn't for professional use--it's for my daughter who's just starting to learn--so having it ready right away saved me a lot of time and hassle. He even tuned it by ear in seconds, which was really impressive. Overall, a smooth and pleasant experience. I really appreciated the quick, no-nonsense service and would definitely come back again for future repairs!

The guy who answered said it could be done same day, or could take a couple days, depending on how many guitars are in line for repair. Thankfully he also told me the tech was coming in in a few days, on Thursday. When I brought it by on Thursday, I got to speak to the tech & show him the guitar. He explained the 2 options and what's included for the price. At first, I was experiencing sticker shock - I'm not a musician, so I didn't expect things to be that much! BUT I bought the guitar for my kiddo 5 years ago & hadn't done any kind of upkeep, so I bit the bullet & went with the higher option. Vincent, the tech, surprised me & got it done in just a couple hours. I was able to pick it up before closing time, which was a nice surprise for my boy. Man. I am glad I went with the top deck (something) option... it looked like a brand new guitar! He really did a terrific job - the wood looked all smooth & conditioned, the strings were tight & low, it was even tuned... my son was verrry excited about it! This is where we bought the guitar, and we'd definitely go back to this Guitar Center for repairs & future purchases! I love that they sell used gear too.

I feel like it takes quite a bit for time to get an associate to the counter to purchase things though. I also don't think the consumer should have to purchase a guitar in order to test it out with other guitars of similar quality. I am looking to buy & need to narrow it down, with all of them on-hand. I ended up buying my Martin from another location, but it was thanks to this location as well. It took many weeks of testing out different guitars in order to finally see which one was right for me.
