Conveniently (or not so much) beside the KidX play area, we stopped into Phyllis Ann's for some ice cream and lemonade after some solid play time. My 4yo hasn't expanded very far beyond vanilla with sprinkles and rainbow sherbet and today she chose rainbow sherbet. She tasted the sherbet a 9/10 because she forgot to order sprinkles (definitely customer error). You order at the front counter and they have a large menu of ice cream in cups, cones, shakes and Sundays as well as coney dogs, sodas and walking tacos among other items. I chose a pineapple lemonade but they had an array of flavors. The pineapple lemonade was lemonade with a pineapple puree topping that had to be mixed in. Even after mixing I didn't get much pineapple flavor but the puree did make it's way through the straw from time to time. After ordering you pick up your order at the back counter. The music was quite loud, although I do enjoy jazz. One scoop of sherbet in a cup and a 16oz flavored lemonade was just under $12 so not really a great deal but we had time to kill and I promised ice cream if she left the play area without a total meltdown. read more

I visited Polaris mall and a very nice gentleman stopped my husband and I to invite us to his new store and he sho us everything they had to offer and gave us suggestions. I was so impressed with all of the ready made mixes for cakes, pancakes, waffles and more plus all of the spices to cook with. They carry seasonings and mixes for homemade soul-food style meals! I bought the pancake mix which made delicious pancakes and I plan to be back to buy more! read more

This is not just any old seasoning store this is an entire experience! First a staff member greets you at the door. Let them know it is your first time stopping in and they will provide you with all the info you need to know. He knows so much about all of the seasonings and tells you exactly what each on can be used for. The store is very neat and spacey so you can easily move around and check out all the cool items they offer. The music playing is full of soul and embodies everything that the brand stands for. The packaging of the seasonings are beautiful because there is a story behind each one and the face of the family member that inspired it. Between my mom and I we purchased the Mixed Green, Caribbean Grill, All Purpose, Southern Chicken Fry, Southern Fish Fry, and Strawberry Icing Mix. When I tell you every one of those seasonings are absolutely delicious! I don't think I'll ever go back to buying grocery store seasonings. This was the best experience I have ever had in a store and the prices are very reasonable. They even have a loyalty program. I will definitely be back! read more

Willie Roy's Southern Chicken Fry is amazing. It's perfectly seasoned and makes the chicken so crispy. We have been back several times for more. We also sampled the pound cake recipe and it's great as well. it's an amazing complement to the chicken fry. This stuff should be a staple in your kitchen. read more

I grew up in Columbus and stopped in during one of my visits. The staff and family members were such wonderful, kind, patient and enthusiastic people it blew my mind! I was walking by when a family member offered to tell me about the business and show me around. I am an old fashioned girl and NOOOBODY LOVES A FAMILY OWNED BUSINESS as much as I do! (Uh-of course its got to deliver and deliver they did!) They remind me of that family that is always there for everyone in their community, so heck YES, I am going to try your family recipes and spice blends!!!! They have huge containers and they made really good suggestions to me and explained the many ways I could use them. I thought the prices were very reasonable. (Boy do I hate creating my own spice blends) I love good food but I like things that bring on the flavor without taking forever. I have enjoyed everything I bought and will return to stock up when I get back to Columbus this summer. Thank you to all the people who welcomed me and were so positive and helpful. Malls would not have ANY problems attracting crowds if every store was unique and had owners who put their hearts and souls into their businesses. read more
