We rode on top of a truck up a mountain to the first line. AVA is so funny and I would definitely recommend doing it if you have time!

We only made it halfway through our group before one of us got stuck on the second line. It took a few minutes to get them unstuck and over to the other side. After that, with no warning, the instructor told us to follow him and said we were going to hike back to the rest of the group. When I asked if something was wrong, he gave me no response. Once we rejoined the other half of our group, our other guide explained that our trip was being cancelled and that we'd need to hike back down. This was shocking and disappointing to all of us--especially the children in our party, who had travelled from out of state and specifically picked this zip-line as the thing they most wanted to do in Colorado. It wasn't worth the long drive just to get up there and have the plug pulled on us with no explanation. I will say the front desk was very kind and helpful. After hearing our account of what happened, they issued us a full refund. Overall, it was a disappointing trip that left all of us confused about what went wrong.

I researched many companies before choosing ATR. I am so glad we did. After reading the positive…read morereviews, I booked this company online for a half day rafting trip in Brown's Canyon. Someone called to confirm the next day. I mentioned that one of our party of 4 had a shoulder issue and was concerned about having to be responsible for too much of the paddling. The woman on the phone said that this wasn't a problem and that maybe they would put an extra staff person on the boat to help. She emphasized that they were a smaller company than most and were used to accommodating their clients so that they had the best experience. Sure enough, that morning, we were assigned Ryan as our guide and Bria, to help with the paddling. There was also a family of three in the office at the same time. I was concerned that we would all end up crammed into the same boat. To our delight, each group had their own raft and guide and we got Bria as a bonus. We noticed other companies that had 8 people on their rafts. During the trip we found out that Ryan and Bria had just gotten married a week ago. Both of them did a great job. They pointed out the scenery and highlights of the river and kept us informed of what to expect at every turn. Although Ryan was extremely conscientious about safety issues, reminding us to plant our feet before every rapid and instructing us about the kind of paddling that we would need for each one, he was also emphasized that they wanted us to have fun and enjoy the experience. We rented wet suits which I would highly recommend. You get splashed enough to keep you from getting too hot. Two of us rented water booties, the other two had water shoes with closed toes. I would also recommend that you wear fingerless gloves as sometimes we chafed our hands against the side of the raft while paddling. I can't say enough positive things about this company including the fact that they give your two more miles of rafting and two extra rapids than all of the other companies. The charge the same price as all the other companies but give a much better value.

An amazing day, our guide Karen, if I spelled her name right, really did an amazing job. It was my…read morefirst rafting trip, an because of this company, I can safely say it won't be my last. We had our own raft, and while helmets are indeed optional, they say this is because they have never once had a head injury in 30 plus years of business. Their guides are paid better here than most other companies and they only have to go out on one trip a day, unlike most of the larger rafting companies. I for one prefer a well paid, energetic, and alert guide.
