    Frozen dim sum

PHOENIX GATE - this is on Centre St N just south of 16 Ave under an apartment building. They do a Peking duck 3 course meal (wraps, fried rice, soup) for $40 which is one of cheapest in town and they give you so much meat. BONUS: they also sell frozen dim sum items that you can steam at home (cash only for these). So delicious! See pics for PKD, DS and the menus.

We ordered their Peking duck set meal - $128 that included 6 dishes. The dishes included duck two ways (soup and the wrap), sweet and sour pork, green beans, seafood vegetable medley, halibut and tofu. The sweet and sour pork and the duck dishes were my favourite. The batter used for the pork was very crisp and delicious. One of best I've had. The duck was really good as well. The wrap provided for the duck was thinly made which allowed you to savour the duck skin and the toppings. The portions were also huge for the price. Ground Parking can be difficult to find because this restaurant is also located at the base of a condo and a mini mall. There is underground parking available. This place gets busy so I recommend calling ahead for a reservation.

This restaurant is located inside the Madison, an apartment building with shops on the main floor. It replaces Tai Pan at its old location inside the mall. I have been here several times for dim sum and dinner. There is a good selection of dim sum, including the popular shrimp dumplings. This review is on their special set dinner combo with Peking duck. The Peking duck combo is said to be for 4 people. I went there with a bigger group so we ordered a few extra dishes, including the $8.88 daily special, which varies daily. The combo features 3 style of Peking duck: duck meat which you can wrap with cucumber and spring onion in a crepe (see picture), soup, and a stir-fried udon with duck meat. The combo also has other dishes including a stir-fried veggies with beef (see picture), a crispy fish (sole - see picture), and a lobster in ginger and green onion sauce (see picture - noodles extra $4). Overall, all the dishes have good portion sizes and flavour. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes Peking duck or wants to try out a variety of dishes without much thinking.

Plenty of parking in front of the stripmall and the restaurant was not busy on a Tuesday night. Came here with 4 of us tonight and got 4 dishes to share. The seafood fried rice was super fluffy and not greasy at all and was tasty. The snow pea shoots with oysters mushrooms, pineapple and sour pork was yummy and my favourite bass the cream sauce lobster on crispy noodles. Service was good and food was delicious would come back again

I have never been to this restaurant. So the good news is I don't need to go to this restaurant any more. A friend invited me to this restaurant. He explained that they have serious, authentic Szechwan fare, but would choose things that even a lao wai like myself could enjoy. Not gonna lie, there was some _heat_, but the flavours were more than worth it. I was probably the only pale guy in the place, which is often a good sign for a Chinese restaurant. The place was very busy, but the staff was incredibly thoughtful. The service was excellent and the food arrived rapidly. I shouldn't say "food". It was a Feast. Everything was cooked to perfection and simply delicious. My only warning (apart from listen to them when they say, "spicy") is that it is authentic. Some dishes will have the bones in. Some might have elements that you're not supposed to eat. Just like many European dishes don't intend for you to eat the whole cloves or peppercorns. If you don't have a native guide, just let the staff know. Judging from my own experiences, they'll treat you right.

Silver Dragon offers a unique experience having some dishes not carried in the united States. And the prices were cheap. Everything is moving fast too especially with a group the knows what they want. I think it made it confusing to the cart ladies trying to listen to everyone speaking at the same time but they provided correct answers. Everything was well done and presented. We got shrimp and pork shumai, pork buns, baked pork buns, egg custards, short ribs, etc. All in all we picked up about 20 dishes. That came to about $200 Canadian dollars, about $137 American dollars. With prices like that the thought of moving to Canada is real. However, the cold winter snow prevents me entertaining that thought at length.

I'm not sure why. The siu mai was mushy. The har gow was okay. The beef rice noodle roll was tasteless. My wife didn't like it. The tofu skin roll (sin jook goon) was not very good either. We only ordered 4 dishes because what we ordered was not good. We didn't want to order anything else. The worst dimsum place in the San Gabriel Valley is better than this place. Not a fan of this place. They might be better for dinner? Non dimsum? Service was better than the food.

Ok so the food is super cheap.. BUT ALSO, THE FOOD WAS ACTUALLY IMPRESSIVE TOO???? NOT TOO OILY, NOT TOO SALTY, GOOD AMOUNT OF SPICY HEAT, fried food actually crunchy. I really appreciated all of the above. I know the food probably isn't healthy still, but I hate when restaurant food has a puddle of oil. The noodles were a bit stuck together because of the lack of oil. Maybe this is why the squid was so crunchy too? The guy serving us in the front said his mom was cooking in the back. She's like she really cares about her customers and making sure they eat a bit more healthy, and of course, tasty food. Each dish had a good mix of veg and meat. They are NOT stingy on meat or veg. We also got the mapo tofu and it was better than t&t. Again, another thing I liked was how the mapo tofu sauce wasn't loaded with starch. In fact, I don't think there was any (along with any sugar) because the sauce was all watery in texture. Flavour and spice was perfect. Something unique about it was that it had a bunch of green peas. I know some people don't like peas. Lol. Overall, this place is genuinely good which is surprising given the insanely low prices. The staff is really nice and chill. I highly reccomend this place for takeout if you're looking for something low-key at home. Ps. There's no seating inside. This is purely a Chinese takeout joint. They have chairs inside if you're waiting for your food.
