Chocolate brioche
Jessica O.

Wandered into this cute little bakery on a Sunday morning in search of breakfast. I was disappointed at the selection, which seemed heavy on the bread and very light on pretty much everything else, but the items I got were HIGH quality. Let's start with the brioche. They had three kinds, plain, chocolate, and cinnamon sugar. I got the chocolate, which was WARM, and upon tasting I'm seriously considering driving back and getting a loaf of the other two. Amazing structure and the chocolate is just the right amount. Heavenly. I also got the werewolf cookies which are white chocolate, coconut, and almond and score a perfect 10 in my book (no easy feat because I have a home bakery). Saving my chocolate chip cookies for later and I know they will be wonderful.

Best cheese danish and croissants I've ever had!! Get there early for the cookies. I've missed them two days in a row. They also serve pizza.

I stopped to check out this little hidden gem that I heard about while visiting. You have to really look for it, it's almost hidden. The pastries I tried were so amazing and the owner & staff were really sweet. It looks like they really enjoy what they do and the quality of the food shows. I ordered a Cinnamon roll, Apple Danish, Cheese Danish and coffee. Let me start by saying the coffee was amazing! I carried my pastries to the car and I tore off a piece of the cinnamon roll to try before driving. I ended up sitting in the parking lot eating way more of it than planned. There were several fluffy layers, the dough was amazing, the cinnamon tasted really fresh and it wasn't too sweet. It was perfectly balanced. I'm really a harsh cinnamon roll critic, I travel a bit, lived in Europe a few years, worked in a few 5 star resorts and this was incredible!!!! Absolutely perfect. The dough was very flaky in the danishes too. The apples were fresh and a little bit tart, just right. The cheese danish was good, it was European style..or at least that's what I'm calling it. The cheese filling was a little on the light side and I would've liked it to have a bit more cheese, but that is just my preference. This place is good and their dough game is strong. I highly recommend you supporting this business.

First peak at the treats!!

We drove them 5 hours to a happy crowd. (Sometimes we have driven them straight to the post office to ship to our soldiers. Well packed and easy.)

Chico Bakery is the home of the Julia's Pepperoni Rolls. This bakery, which has been around since…read morethe '20s, offers a West Virginian specialty, using the original recipe of Julia Chico. They're that good that they're the official roll designated for the West Virginia University Mountaineers! Just note that when you enter on the side, this is an actual bakery (with belts and sacks of flour, and bakers actually making the rolls!). However, don't be alarmed, as you can literally just walk in and purchase the pepperoni rolls on an individual-basis or purchase them by bulk. There are 3 different 'fillings' that are offered - Pepperoni, Pepper & Cheese, and Pepperoni & Hot Cheese. Of course, I bought one of each. The bakery usually offers them hot and fresh, but due to the holidays, they only had the freshly-frozen ones available. You just open the package on one side, zap it in the microwave for 2 minutes, and ta-da! It's all heated up and ready for consumption! The bread itself is soft, and inside, there are slices of pepperoni. My favorite was the Pepperoni & Hot Cheese (uses pepper jack), as it has a nice kick that complements well to the meat slices. Michael, one of the friendly bakers, greeted me right away and took down my order - I handed over the cash (I highly recommend in paying with cash) and in a few seconds, he came back with the items with change! It was that easy! This is definitely a nice little gem in Morgantown, and I highly recommend in coming here to get a taste of the Pepperoni Rolls! :D +Julia's Pepperoni Rolls! +Pepperoni & Hot Cheese +fresh & freshly-frozen rolls offered! +actual bakery - open to the public! +highly recommend in paying with cash! +ask for Michael :D +plenty of street parking

The shop was very clean and smelled delicious the moment you walk through the door. The lady working the counter greeted me the moment I walked in. I told her it was my first time visiting, and she welcomed me, asking if I had any questions. I asked for her recommendations, and she gave me a few of her favorites. I will be very honest, I am typically a Krispy Kreme or Country Style Donuts kind of guy. I don't step outside of those realms. I am very particular about my donuts. However, I am so glad I stopped by here. I ordered the Raspberry Truffle and Blueberry Cheesecake (I think). The donut was very, how do I describe the texture, it was a cake-like donut. Very fine and crumbly texture. It literally melts in your mouth. I wasn't a fan of the icing on the Blueberry Cheesecake; however, the Raspberry Truffle's toppings were absolutely delicious. Although I didn't like the icing on the Blueberry Cheesecake donut, the donut itself was absolutely delicious, which is the reason this rating remains five stars. I would absolutely recommend this place, and if I'm ever in the area, I'll be back for sure! Head over to the website, the pictures of the donuts are literally how the donuts looked in person!
