Cutest, most unassuming bakery. Looks like a house from the outside with beautiful plants! This place has a great selection of pastry goods. My daughter recommended this place for pizza. We went, and wowy! It was super good! Crust was perfect! Pepperoni was spicy and baked with a crunch to the edge (which we love). They had amazing looking bread, we tried the cinnamon rolls, the have lots of other items that were sold out by the time we arrived for an evening pizza. It's a cute old Victorian style home, lovely front rock patio, bird feeders, cat feeders and squirrel feeders. The parking lot is a bit small, but pretty brick pavers. We noticed many customers had preordered and did pick up only. That might be a good option. We enjoyed the patio however and that pizza was ready in less than ten minutes!!! Visited this bakery for the first time today. Didn't get there until shortly after noon. Most of the pastries were sold out but we managed to score the last two 'pain chocolate' a loaf of sourdough, and some pizza rolls. I would highly recommend. The setting outside was one of pure serenity as we sat and watched a wide variety of birds in the tree shaded small patio. The shop keeper was both friendly and knowledgeable. Wandered into this cute little bakery on a Sunday morning in search of breakfast. I was disappointed at the selection, which seemed heavy on the bread and very light on pretty much everything else, but the items I got were HIGH quality. Let's start with the brioche. They had three kinds, plain, chocolate, and cinnamon sugar. I got the chocolate, which was WARM, and upon tasting I'm seriously considering driving back and getting a loaf of the other two. Amazing structure and the chocolate is just the right amount. Heavenly. I also got the werewolf cookies which are white chocolate, coconut, and almond and score a perfect 10 in my book (no easy feat because I have a home bakery). I stopped to check out this little hidden gem that I heard about while visiting. You have to really look for it, it's almost hidden. The pastries I tried were so amazing and the owner & staff were really sweet. It looks like they really enjoy what they do and the quality of the food shows. I ordered a Cinnamon roll, Apple Danish, Cheese Danish and coffee. Let me start by saying the coffee was amazing! I carried my pastries to the car and I tore off a piece of the cinnamon roll to try before driving. I ended up sitting in the parking lot eating way more of it than planned. There were several fluffy layers, the dough was amazing, the cinnamon tasted really fresh and it wasn't too sweet. It was perfectly balanced. I'm really a harsh cinnamon roll critic, I travel a bit, lived in Europe a few years, worked in a few 5 star resorts and this was incredible!!!! Absolutely perfect. The dough was very flaky in the danishes too. The apples were fresh and a little bit tart, just right. The cheese danish was good, it was European style..or at least that's what I'm calling it. The cheese filling was a little on the light side and I would've liked it to have a bit more cheese, but that is just my preference. This place is good and their dough game is strong. Excellent local business hidden away in a former house, this bakery has been here for years as a part of the walking neighborhood. Breads tend towards the lighter French and Italian styles, well-executed crumb and crust. (And they do have more substantial whole-grain loaves as well, just not in the dense German style). Delicious croissants and pain au chocolat! Pizzas are fantastic, entirely different from any of the commercial offerings in town. Coffee and outdoor seating, walk-up service from great staff. So many reasons to love this place. REAL bread! Chewy, substantial, tasty. Love the buckwheat/pear bread, the Halleck (using spent grain from local Chestnut Brew pub just down the street), the multi-grain (my usual since Day One), the sourdough. The pizza is my favorite in town, although there are a lot of very good competitors. Nice to be able to pick up a quick cup of soup during the winter too, with a sour dough roll tucked in the bag, that's comfort food. Also a good place to buy local honey and maple syrup (when in season) in quantity. The fact this place is also a CSA produce drop-off location speaks volumes about the owners' commitment to the local foods scene. read more
