Misdiagnosis ER Said I had a sinus infection but I was having a goddamned stroke , sent me home, what the fuck did I know, apparently the blockage cleared it self after a couple of days . Valentine day 2023 back again same symptoms only worse went back again waited 6 hours an older doctor came in looked at me saw my face dragging and called a stroke cussed out the nurse for not seeing it, put me on a helicopter and flew me to dothan Alabama for treatment. My Grandmother fell three days ago and got sent there by the ambulance. She didn't get in a room till 12:23. They did a CT scan on her and some more tests. Everything came back clear. The doctor called me today and said she was ready to be picked up. My mom came and picked her up then when she got home she was getting out of the vehicle and became unresponsive and started shaking. We think it was a seizure. Anyways she came back too and didn't remember anything. Paramedics were called and they said,"We keep sending her to americus and they clearly aren't doing their job." Moral of the story they aren't trying their best they are doing the bare minimum. read more

Talking about a remodel! There was a terrible storm 10yrs ago that destroyed the old Phoebe Sumter. The old location is about 15 min from this location. It's quite spacious- Doctors building, Outpatient wing, ER, Primary Care offices. It looks like a college campus. Here today with my dad for pre op surgery scheduled Friday. Check in was painless . We waited 20 min before we were called to the back. Patient services clerk was very nice and friendly. She made us feel comfortable and welcome. Several forms to sign but she explained each form and what and how each is used. Vitals were taken all were good! The staff was great from intake to departure. This hospital services all the surrounding counties . If you're in the area, consider this hospital. There are several primary care physicians onsite. read more

I wasn't happy that I went to the hospital for "lab"tests and wasn't allowed to use the "lab" bathroom....ridiculous!

No staff has even walked through the er waiting room to know who is here. I've been here for a while, unnoticed....

I would as a review.my daughter has been sitting there since before lunch here it is 5:50pm and she is still there.they have only done blood work and ultrasound.there is no sense in a person sitting that long.the doctors and nurses need to stop taking there time and get to work.a patient should not have to sit there no more than 3 hrs.my daughter sat in the waiting rm 3 hrs before they even took her back.this is the worst hospital I have seen. read more

I was in the emergency room on a Saturday, with a return visit the following Sunday. We did wait several hours on Saturday before I was seen but on the next visit, I went straight in. Obviously they can't control the number of people coming in. While I do suspect my problem was misdiagnosed the first trip in, I was admitted the following Sunday, staying through Wednesday. The second visit pinned it down with the proper test. While the emergency room was, well, an emergency room, moving up to a room was such a relief. Wonderful room, the entire staff were so kind, responsive and attentive. By Monday, I felt better than I had in weeks. It may have been because I hadn't eaten for several weeks previously, each diet phase was delicious - from clear broths, through clear soups, to regular diet. Phoebe Sumter is the nicest hospital I have ever seen! I would venture as far as to say that it is nicer than the hospitals in Atlanta. For those who are not familiar with this hospital in Americus, GA, it was recently rebuilt following a tornado that ravished the old building a few miles away. Luckily for the hospital at the time, no patients were harmed and they were able to maintain 99% of their medication inventory through the tough situation. On our visit to the campus we were shown around by one of the hospital staff who was very knowledgeable about the history and future of Phoebe Sumter. He began our tour in the Chapel which showcases three stained glass pieces which were the only artifacts that remained undamaged from the original hospital. From there we took a look at the ER, in-patient rooms, and the maternity ward. I must say that the hospital makes you feel like you are in a comfortable hotel from the second you walk into the lobby to the moment you enter a patient room. Each floor is equipped with technology to ensure that staff provides the best care possible. The rooms were all designed with the patient in mind. It is no wonder that this hospital won the award for most beautiful hospital in the country for 2015. The food court was amazing as well, offering healthy and affordable options. I was very impressed with this facility and would not want my care to be anywhere else but here. read more
