I had the vermicelli noodle salad dish with shrimps. I wish it came with more than 4 shrimps. The taste of the sauce added to the delicious fresh taste of the salad. I absolutely love the thin white noodles, so soft and yummy to slurp up. My friend had the beef pho soup and he liked it so much that he didn't leave any trace of food behind, not even soup lol. Of all the pho places in Winnipeg, this pho restaurant has the biggest pho soup bowl. The price is decent here too. read more

Came here during their soft opening. I ended up ordering the Bun noodles with the bacon infused meatballs. This place is legit! The owner graciously showed me around the kitchen and gave me a first hand tour of everything that goes into the amazing dishes they create. I saw (and smelled) the beef stew appetizer they were cooking and I honestly can't wait to come back to Winnipeg to try it. If you live in the area, its really worth hitting this place up. read more

Came here for lunch today, arrived at noon. What a mistake! The place is tiny. But we were the only 2 customers in the restaurant for a while. It's not exactly a refined look, but not dumpy looking. The menu is small and limited. For a Vietnamese joint with "Pho" in it's name, one might expect a variety of different versions of this soup, but alas, Pho Yo only offers 2 ( beef or chicken). We ordered the salad rolls and the grilled shrimp skewers to start, and we each ordered the beef pho (we flipped a coin). As we waited for our lunch to be prepared we heard a microwave door open, close, and 30 seconds later, we heard the "beeping" sound, and the door open and close. 30 seconds later a guy sporting a tape measure hooked on his belt emerged from the kitchen with our shrimp (I've included a picture for your viewing pleasure). The shrimp was cold, smelled off (kinda fishy) and was nowhere near a grill of any kind (unless they named their microwave "Grill"). We tasted one, it was not good, and we sent it back and questioned the staff about "Grill". The staff insisted it wasn't microwaved and that the shrimp was definitely "Grilled". (At this point, my Spidey Senses are are kicking in, "tingling" if you will). Then came our salad rolls. In a small bowl beside the salad rolls ( which received equal grilling time as our shrimp) was a glob of Skippy, spooned straight outta the jar. The salad rolls weren't great, but not bad. They didn't exactly exude "fresh". Finally our pho arrived. 75% of the bowl was filled with a dense mat of noodles, with some beef and then broth. The broth was mediocre (5/10 would be generous). The beef was tough and chewy and there were enough noodles to gag a hippopotamus. The accompanying sprouts didn't seem fresh and crisp, but rather a wee bit limp and old. I wasn't impressed. As we were getting up to pay, we noticed a mouse trap directly beside our booth, literally 4' from where our food was on the table. But the staff was thoughtful enough to accompany an air freshener beside the trap so that customers wouldn't be burdened by the smell of decomposing rodents while they dined on microwaved frozen appetizers. (Photo included for your shock and awe). Quite the thoughtful and considerate restaurateurs. As we were paying, I again challenged the staff about the " Grilled shrimp" and again, they insisted that it wasn't microwaved, but rather it was Grilled. The staff (owners) here are so arrogant, they assume their customers are too stupid and inexperienced to know the difference. They obviously take their customers for fools. If you love Vietnamese cuisine, like I do, AVOID THIS PLACE!!! There are other amazing Vietnamese restaurants in Winnipeg that prepare fresh, flavourful food, don't cut corners, respect their customers, and the best part; their Pho broth is intoxicating! (Pho Hoang, TH Dang, Pho #1). I won't ever return to this restaurant, and I strongly urge everyone else to do the same. read more

This place is just okay. It's not on the same level as other Vietnamese restaurants in the downtown area. The food was bland. Another thing that I'd complain about is their exhaust/ventilation system. Our eyes were hurting when they were cooking/preparing our order. Only discovered this hidden gem a few months ago, have already been back 4 times! Ate in the first time, and gotten takeout since. The dine-in restaurant is very small, only 4-5 tables, but clean, and good service (and clean bathroom!). The first time we ate there (dine-in) we had the salad rolls with prawns, and the Bun Mee. The salad rolls were kind of bland, not bad but not good either. The Bun Mee however is amazingly delicious. Since then we get Bun Mee takeout over and over. My favourite is the Vietnamese Grilled Pork with the Thai Blast Mayo. My husband likes spicy so he gets the Chicken Hot Dang with the Wee Sauce. My mom prefers the Lemongrass Beef with Thai Blast Mayo. The portion size is really big. I have to be really hungry to finish the whole thing. My husband is perfectly full on one. They gave me oven warm up instructions for home that keep the Bun crispy and delicious. I've ordered via Skip The Dishes as well. read more

Found my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant! I was so impressed with the quality of food. It was fresh, not oily and not chewy. The Pho soup was the best soup I've tasted. The broth was not oily and the meat with not chewy and fatty. It was good quality meat they used. the spring rolls were not dripping in oil either. The fresh shrimp rolls were made with whole large shrimp! We even tried the stuffed boneless chicken wings which were very tasty. The Bun Me Sub was huge! It was like biting into a fluffy soft bun made with fresh vegetables and perfectly marinated meat. We tried the grilled pork in ours Bun Me. The restaurant is small, but perfect if you are just looking for a simple place with good quality Vietnamese food. The food speaks for itself! read more

A nice cozy pho house . Perfect for those chilly days. I started off with chicken wings and the homemade spring rolls which came in chicken, pork or vegetarian which I loved because I am a person who enjoys options. The wings were tasty and paired very nicely with their house made "wee" hot sauce. (They were very prompt with my request for more sauce =)). And if you've never had stuffed chicken wings then you are missing out. I had the special beef noodle soup as the main dish and wow were they generous with the meat. Delicious and savory and filling. Definitely hit the spot. Was going to try the Vietnamese coffee but heaven forbid I may have passed out right there. It's a bit of a distance away from where I live but with lots of options and a loyalty card you can bet I'll be back again. Go get some Pho-Yo. read more
