I've been here before but I've never wrote a review so here it is. This place is pretty good, nice, clean and plenty of parking. The service was excellent and the food came out pretty fast. The staff also seemed very nice. The decor was awesome and bathrooms were clean. The price was good too, cheap. I had the Seafood Noodle Soup and the Mongolian Beef. The noodle soup was good, lots of noodles, meat, seafood and it was fresh and hot. The only thing that would make it perfect was if the broth was a little more seasoned. I ordered the small but when it arrived I was surprised, the bowl was huge. I was so happy when I saw that they had Mongolian Beef on the menu because I had been craving it so bad. It was delicious! The meat was tender, the vegetables were bright and fresh and it wasn't too greasy, it was perfect! The egg rolls my friend ordered were delicious as well. All in all the food was delicious, the service was great and the price was cheap. What else do you want from a restaurant. I will be returning here to try their other delicacies! read more

I am VERY disappointed at this restaurant tonight. I have been supporting this restaurant since they first open and tonight I found a tissue in my #1 large bow of pho. I brought it up to the owner or manger and she accuse me that I might have pick my own tissue and toast it in my bow of pho. I was mad but choose not to cuss her out because my entire family is eating with me. My wife also complain about the broth being very watery. The table of 4 adult across from our table also confirm of the broth being very watery. They all walk out not eating their 4 bows of XL bow of pho. My family and I decided to come here for lunch after seeing that they have a many great reviews. I ordered the spicy beef noodles, my son have salt and pepper squid and the rest of the family having special beef noodles. We were excited, my spicy beef noodles looked delicious; but when i gave it a taste it all I tasted was the MSG, I couldn't continue eating the noodles. We all had a horrible reaction to this meal.And same thing with my son salt and pepper squid dish too (each bite was like a salt mine). We'll never ever return to this place, do not come unless you want a migraine from the amount of salt/MSG they put in their food. read more

First time coming here and everything was great! Everyone working was very sweet and friendly and my food came out quickly too. I ordered a small pho tai, egg rolls, and a Thai tea to go and everything was delicious! Only downside was they didn't have chili paste from what I could see. Also, make sure to ask for extra sauce if you like a lot bc they don't give very much (hoisin and sriracha). Definitely will be coming back! read more

Came here to try the pho and that's what the review is for. We ordered pho bo dac biet and bbh and they just didn't do it for me. Soup was bland, noodles were soggy, just not a good bowl of noods. Really surprised they have such good reviews. The bowl was pretty big, I'll give them that, but I'd rather it just taste good. Lots of parking, open pretty late, and service was decent too. They have a bunch of other stuff on their menu, like Chinese food, which I did not try. PHO BOWLS that would satisfy Sasquatch! My oh my, I didn't think I would find a place that serve bigger bowls than Pho Kim Long (San Jose) that aren't apart of a "pho challenge." Having an abundance of great pho joints in SJ, I can tell good pho from crappy franchised or "fusion" pho. After a long weekend of snowboarding and being in a storm in Tahoe, our group was craving some pho on the way back home. After some careful yelping, we decided to stop here. There are some tell-talle signs that a pho join will be good. [ ] sketchy neighborhood, check [ ] the outside of the restaurant looks worn down and you don't know if its open, check [ ] gigantic hoisin sauce bottle, check [ ] they bring out "hanh tran" and "hanh dam" when you order it, check I was impressed by how large the bowl was, quite possibly the largest I've ever had. You can't go wrong with the largest size for $8.50! We all know it's all about quality over quantity, so how did it taste? As the tell-tale signs projected, the pho was on point! The broth was smooth, not salty or overwhelming. I usually order my meat on the side (raw), and they gave a decent amount enough for the amount of noodles in the bowl. All and all, good pho with gigantic bowls. $45 bucks for 4 huge bowls of pho with spring roll appetizers is a great end to an amazing weekend. read more

Awkwardly gated parking lot, once I walked in I stood around for 5 mins looking to catch someone's attention in order to be seated. we sat, and we're immediately asked if we knew what we wanted...uh no. lol I ordered the cream cheese crab wotons and pho ga, they were both just ok. This place opened about a week ago in a building where there used to be a nightclub. Now, it's been transformed into a clean, spacious place for lunch or dinner. The service is amazing. Every employee is very, very nice . There must be something in the broth because everyone was friendly and smiling. The tables and chair aren't from a furniture warehouse like some other tasty hole-in-the-wall places I have eaten. The tables all have granite table tops...classy! I ordered the medium sized bowl of pho and it was enormous. I couldn't move for a few hours after eating. The soup comes with the usual, basil, lemon, cilantro, and bean sprouts on the side. I found some of the meat a bit fatty for my taste but I just ate around those parts. B ordered Pad Thai, which he thought was great but I thought it had too much of a tomato based taste. First time I came here. I have to agree with everyone else. The pho was good. I thought to myself, yeah, i'll definitely be back . So I did come back . I ordered the same thing. One thing I did not order with my pho was the bug inside of my pho. disgusting. I was never coming back. Turns out I did come back though after several months to a year, I was like why not.. maybe the bug was just a one time thing. This time I ordered the same thing. Pho Xe Lua is my favorite pho place in Sacramento. Its huge, clean, and service is OK. I've never had bad service there, but never had good service either. They are always in a hurry and try to rush you out the door. Always greeted as soon as I walk through the door. Sometimes they don't even give you time to read the menu. They immediately ask you what you want as soon as you're seated. But they always keep your water glass and hot tea pot filled. I either get the #1 or the Bun Bo Hue. The pho is always good. Its never overly soft or over done. The broth is light and flavorful. I usually get the raw meats on the side and the bean sprouts lightly blanched. The Bun Bo Hue is also very good. The broth is spicier, but so good. Surprisingly they also make very good Beef Chow Fun and Pork Chop Rice. Overall a very good place to eat at. The Asian drinks are good and the food is also good. Food is typically brought out quickly. Try to avoid this place during lunch hours. Super busy, but it's usually not too long of a wait. read more

Ok, this is it. No more pho reviews. I found my pho place. I don't care if it isn't as authentic or not like you can get in LA or anything else. This is how I like it. Bowl - enormous. Meat - tender and plenty of it. Meatballs - just a little spicy. Noodles - just undercooked when they bring them out so after you add all your stuff they are just right. Stuff - plenty of basil, lime, jalapeno, sprouts and whatever that sawtooth leaf that I like is. Broth - too much to eat all of it. rich and delicious. Service - minimal but very friendly and polite which is more that you can usually expect in a vietnamese restaruant on Stockton Blvd. We have a winner! read more

I havent ate at pho xe lua for a long time til my friend who's a regular took me here. My friend dont work here anymore, and i realized her family didnt own the place! Anyway, I ordered #1 small. Pho dac biet, my usual. It came out HUGE! I was totally surprised that their small is like a medium bowl at saigon. The broth was piping hot, good amount of everything, i was happy! Wow, they really cram all the Viet restaurants on one street, eh? This one is right across from Pho Saigon, and both restaurants seem to be doing well. I was hoping to find more good pho spots and wondered if this place was any better than Pho Saigon, so I decided to give it a try. I don't think this place is as good as Saigon, but it comes really close. It's a good option to have if you're tired of one pho place or another. The pho is good, the prices are cheap, and the service is typical of many pho restaurants (but a little better than most.) They're Chinese/Vietnamese here, so I think you'll find some standard Chinese dishes on the menu too. Tip: Their broth comes out extremely hot, so whenever I go here, I have to order the tai (rare steak flank) on the side; otherwise, it becomes too chewy and tough from overcooking in the soup. read more

My fault. Their menu is huge and I probably got the one meh dish. The place was packed when we showed up around noon on a Friday, so this is definitely one popular place. I got the pineapple fried rice and I would say most of the other items are probably a better choice. The pineapple fried rice was not flavorful at all and there were only a few small bits of pineapple in it. Lame. I also got a thai iced tea with pearls. Now that was a good buy. Big and delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed my drink and was sad that my meal didn't match up. Nice interior with really neat art. A lot of potential and it probably works for most most of the time, but for me and my fried rice this place is a solid (but kind) two stars. read more

PROS: the pho bowls are huge! their small size is comparable to a large at many other pho restaurants. I usually order the #9 (pho with rare steak, well-done flank, and tripe..MmmM). the place is really clean, and the service is fast and friendly. plenty of seating, and a private parking lot, yeah! CONS: The pho meat is not the best quality. The "rare steak" is often hard and chewy, but the soft flank meat makes up for it. the pho soup is good or bad depending on the day (in my experience, it tastes better in the afternoon, as opposed to evening). OTHER COMMENTS: they close at 10 every night, and the crowd is usually families and older groups (think 40 year olds), which I like because its not too loud when u just want to enjoy a solid dinner. (you can go to pho saigon across the street for the late night hipster crowd) if you're not feeling pho, the bun thit noung is also delicious (sometimes the pork can be quite fatty, though), and my bf's fav is the lemongrass chicken rice plate. cheers! read more

I would rate this a 3 1/2 star the service is great, everyone is nice (they even say thank you for giving you your lime LMFAO) quick and friendly, walking around makin sure everyone is okay...(my first time there yesturday) now the pho is okay the broth came out reallly HOT and burnt my mouth (i love that in pho!) but had wayy too much msg my mouth was dry even wen i got home took a nap and woke up! haha i drank alot of water too..the broth was missing something..just a little bit of something..maybe more beef flavor and not msg? although for a small over here it looks like a medium! I was so surprised i couldnt even finish 1/2 if it haha... and i got the #1 special pho or whatever and i didnt have that much meat or tendon, and the tripe was too rubber and my noodles were wayy to soft, like soggy! =(. but i liked their meat balls =) big and flavorful. My boyfriend and his sis got the rice plate i think number 37,38 or 39, they didnt like it the meat was too oily and their soup (which was also for the pho soup) was okay as well...and my friend got the chow fun, he didnt complain about it. he got it w/ extra lime and something im pretty sure he enjoyed it, maybe i should get that if i go next time? I come here for the consistently delicious flavored charbroiled pork rice plate! I liked it so much that I came here two days in a row. Heh :) And you get a pretty generous portion for $6.95, which is a little more than what the other places in the area are charging. But that's okay because I think the seasoning for the meat is much better. Customer service is meh. We've asked for straws for our water and never got them. No refills for water either. And one time we must have waited at least 10 minutes to order. But I don't come here for that, just for the food. read more

The broth was tasty and fresh. Not spicy at all, but the fresh jalepenos, pickled jalepenos, chili peper oil, and sriracha perked it up nicely. The tendon and tripe were very tender and quite flavorful. The staff was friendly and fast. My lunch was wonderful and cleared out my cold immediately second only to seaweed soup. read more

If I could give this place NO stars, I would. This used to be a really good place and I actually enjoyed the pho but not anymore. Not sure what's changed. I ordered the chicken pho and whoever decided that adding fried onions to the broth was a good idea is sadly mistaken. YUCK! That's all I could taste, the fried onion. Not to mention the "chicken" was a bunch of chicken skin and extremely dark meat...Some I'd even question if it were chicken or not. I ordered BBQ pork spring rolls and those were decent. I also ordered a mango smoothie with pearls. The pearls were OLD! Slimey and hard to chew. Disgusting! To make matters worse, I saw a kitchen worker picking her teeth when I looked in the back and had to practically fight with a waitress for extra lime. I won't ever go back to this pho place. Great place for pho and vietnamese food. I used to always go to the Hoa Viet on Stockton prior to this restaurant. But Hoa Viet and its shitty customer service - won't be returning there. Pho Xe Lua is spacious, its food is great, and the wait to be seated doesn't take very long. My boyfriend and I have become such regulars there that the owner greets our table each time we visit. This place is glorious. Never had pho before & I'm a very picky eater, so I was worried. Well. The pho ga (chicken) is savory deliciousness. I'm hooked. I'm ruined for life. This place now owns my soul. I also really appreciate the cleanliness of their soda glasses, which are actually kind of lovely cut glass. This is the only Vietnamese restaurant I go to. Not because its the best Vietnamese food around, but for other things. One, my mom knows the workers there, so I feel like I should support her homies. I also like that their Pho bowls are bigger than other places! They also have nicer soup spoons to eat your pho with. Might not seem like a big deal, but a bigger soup spoon makes a difference. Located in Little Saigon with a ghetto parking lot but the actual restaurant is nice, clean, and spacious. One of the bigger vietnamese restaurants I've come upon. The service is very prompt and your food came out uber fast. The waitress are totally on top of their game. My parents both ordered a large special pho and I ordered a large #2. We live in the little saigon in SF so its really hard to compare but the portion size did! The noodles are the flat ones and are a bit tough. They can give a bit more meat but overall it was good and I don't mind coming back here. We also like to have our bean sprouts cooked and they did that with no complaints. read more

Driving down Stockton Street looking for a decent looking place to eat was not easy. After passing by several semi-seedy looking places along the way, we stopped at this place that looks half-way decent from the outside, but I was still skeptical (because it's located next to Budget Inn). But once we stepped inside, I knew that it would be okay, as the interior is actually quite clean, spacious and comfortable. I ordered the charbroiled pork chop over rice ($5.50), which came with two bone-in pieces of BBQ pork chop, a small salad and a big bowl of rice on the plate, and a bowl of soup. Two of us also shared a fried calamari appetizer ($5.95). I was disappointed with the calamari as I found it to be very plain-tasting. The generic sweet and sour sauce did not help spice up the calamari either. I noticed that my friend's large bowl of pho ($5.75) was of a very generous size and could easily qualify as XL at many places. Service was friendly except I found it weird that the waitress had to stand right by your table as you try to calculate the tip and sign the credit card slip (was she afraid that I wasn't going to leave her a tip or something?) Bottom Line: Was pleased with the interior setting, but felt just so-so about the overall quality of the food. read more

My favorite pho restaurant in Sacramento. You get more than what you pay for and it's PHO-KING DELICIOUS! ;) I always get number one - Pho Xe Lua Dac Biet nho. I eat all the meats and the bowl as is with beansprouts, basil and the usual sauces. Don't forget to fill your saucer with sriracha and hoisin sauce with a lime wedge. I also like to ask for boiled beansprouts. It helps keep your soup hot! Though I always get the same thing, people I go with always get different things are are always good too (I always make sure I get a bite). My little nieces and nephews love their house special crispy chow mein noodles. The canh chua and ca kho is also good too if you want a traditional Vietnamese dinner. If you have room after gulping down your huge bowl of pho, get a che dau do. I love che dau do (red bean dessert) at pho restaurants. Seems better than other shops. read more

I have tried their bun thit nuong ( grilled pork vermicelli), their pho and their bun bo hue. All of their dishes are delicious, but I recommend getting some pho if this is your first time here. Why wouldn't you, right? The place is called the pho train (xe lua). If you are feeling adventurous and want to step out of your comfort Zone, I recommend getting the combination special pho with all different types of meats. If you want to stay boring and stay within the confines of your comfort zone, you can always just get cooked beef on your pho. Either way, you won't be disappointed. Took 18 minutes once I made it obvious that I was gone eating before I got my check, I wasn't in that big of a hurry so I said wtf I'll see how long this takes. I came here with my friend for a late lunch one day, and I was craving some good pho. High reviews on Yelp pointed me to this place. The service was very prompt, but quite pushy and apathetic .. Three different waitresses asked us "You ready to order?" in the first 4 minutes we sat down, and it was obvious we were still browsing the pages. The menu is large, offering several pho options, various charbroiled meat dishes, and traditional Vietnamese fare. My friend's Pho had tasty broth, but low-quality boiled chicken bobbing around in it. He couldn't eat it, and I didn't blame him. My vegetarian pho bowl was filled with fried tofu and loads of vegetables...it was unfortunate that the flavors were very subtle (merging on bland). My leftovers tasted much better the next day with some Sriracha swirled in. Maybe the pho needed more time for optimal flavor marriage? The portions are big, and the price is super cheap. The pho comes in small, large, and extra large. The "large" size pho bowl is large enough to bathe a small cat in..I couldn't imagine what their "extra large" portion is like!
