Service is Ok, no one really speaks english unless it's the cashier. The food is average, it's not bad but there isn't anything noticeably different to the other pho shops. What irked me was that i paid extra for fat noodles and got a reaaaally small portion, and I ordered a large pho. I explained this and the lady came up with some BS that if there were too much noodles, there's no space for the broth. and walked away. I literally paid extra. this was a 17+ dollar pho and the portions were small. I mean, Ok, I can definitely eat a lot for a smaller person, but the price to portion is bad. I got a decent amount of tendons, but barely any tripe, and maybe like 2-3 chunks of meat. highly dissatisfied and lost a customer. don't forget there are plenty of pho shops on stockton blvd. won't be back. read more

ight man so i just took homeboy to church so that he could repent. and after church, we were mad hungry so we're like damn let's go to sit lo in elk grove. but then nah i was like bruh let's just get pho xe lua instead. so we swerved last second into the freeway exit. but yeah, honestly can't really beat it here. very solid prices and good portion sizes. $16 bucks for this big ahh plate of grilled pork, rice, n some other stuff. ngl the pic don't even do it justice. the plate was as big as a flying saucer bro. but yeah it was really flavorful and had a nice charred flavor. fish sauce was amazing. service was calm. food came out in a very reasonable time too given that the place was packed af. would def come here more often if it was closer to the crib. read more

Ordered the #62 which was give to us and highly recommended, pan fried noodles and a combination of meat.. ohhhhhh my! It was absolutely delicious, beef was tender, chicken perfectly balanced with shrimp and calamari and all the vegetables were done perfect! And the price point was right there! Although the neighborhood was a little sketch, this restaurant was packed for lunch! Will make the trip from Lincoln to try the extra large pho next time! read more

Yelp was right when the app told me that I should go to Pho Xe Lua. I was on a business trip, and had no idea of where to go. As I approached the location, the place looked eerily familiar. I had been here before under a different owner. I didn't really eat here as my wife would rather have takeout. Upon arriving, I met Tina, the owner's wife. Tina was amazing person. I enjoyed our short conversation. I ordered the #34, the charbroiled shrimp with chicken, egg roll and vermecelli for my wife, and Tina convinced me to get their #1 combination pho. She told me that the small portion would be enough for me. The food came out pretty quickly. I quickly drove back to the hotel. The food was good. The portion size was generous. My wife liked her charbroiled shrimp and didn't share with me. She did give me a few pieces of the chicken. The combination pho had all the usual meat in it, like tendon, tripe, brisket and rare steak. Prices were reasonable. They may have the best cheapest bowl of pho in California. I liked this place. It had everything I wanted for dinner. The only thing that would've made it better for me was if I ate there! read more

We recently moved back to the south side of town and had to make a visit to one of our favorite OG pho spots. This trip we ordered a grilled pork plate, a vermicelli chicken plate, and beef stew with noodles. And just like we remembered everything was delicious fresh and flavorful. Came here on a Monday night to have dinner with my family. I got the small pho with steak and tripe. The food came out super quick and was a very big portion. The broth is very flavorful and the noodles are cooked perfectly. They are generous with the meat too. We also got the salt and pepper calamari and pork chops. Both were delicious and cooked very well. The restruant is very big and has a lot of seating. Definitely a great place for big parties. Service is good and we were checked in on often. read more

This is my neighborhood go to so I've been here a lot. I love the pork and shrimp spring rolls. Today I went with my team from work and we ordered the family meal for 8 people. Oh my god it is so wonderful. Starting off with seafood tofu soup, fried rice, ribs, the beef stew was AMAZING served bubbling on its own little burner with large chunks of tofu and beef. The shrimp and chicken were great too. Although I ate a ton, I felt great after..not all weighted down. The service was fast and friendly. Came on a Saturday afternoon with my cousin. There's plenty of street parking and many tables to sit. Staff was pretty attentive and my bowl came with huge portions! Very big space. Got seated quickly. Got a bun bo hue. It came out quick. I got a small but it was a huge bowl. This was honestly the saddest bowl of bun bo hue I've ever had. It lacked flavor, no umami. I never add salt in my food but I had to do this time. The salt never made it better. The meats and noodles were plenty. Hopefully their pho isn't like this. Saw most people ordering stir fried noodle dishes. read more

They charged my card twice. When I came back for a refund which I was told to do because he couldn't give me back that refund since it was "pending" I came back in the morning to give it time to officially take from my bank and then the "boss" wasn't there to give me a refund. I'm wasting my time driving back and forth to get my own money back. So ridiculous. Please be careful and don't have them tapping your card multiple times because their machine isn't working. Won't be coming back here after I get my money back. read more

Used to come here often years ago, came back again recently and still just as great. Ordered a small #14 and it was really good! Portion size was honestly quite big compared to other places and it's around $13+. They recently raised their prices, was originally around $8+ but still fairly cheap. Was a bit slow when we went (Thursday around 2PM) and it took awhile for us to be seated but food came out very quickly and workers were very nice. Very spacious for both small and large parties, has many art pieces representing Vietnamese culture. Would definitely recommend checking this place out, wouldn't mind coming here again. read more

This restaurant is one of our favorite food places in Little Saigon here in Sacramento. There's a lot of pho shops within a mile, but this is definitely best one of the best. They even have the traditional drip coffee with condensed milk, which is hard to find these days. Great menu with lots of Vietnamese and Chinese options, very good service. read more

Stopped by for lunch since I was in the area, South Sac. The pho here is always good and the service is fast. The broth is clear and delicious I don't really add anything to it other than hot sauce. I decided to give them another chance. I even ordered extra brisket (my fave) for the brisket pho. The brisket didn't improve. It's got this chewy texture instead of tender like or used to be. Two stars for two things: 1. They package your food really well and thoughtfully 2. The person on the phone was very sweet and accommodating The food flavor, however, was off. As an OC Viet, our food standards are pretty high. With that being said, if you're from OC this is going to be underwhelming and disappointing. Each dish we ordered was lacking flavor. We ordered pho đặc biệt, bún bò Huế, grilled tofu and mushroom dish, bun thit nướng, and every single dish unfortunately missed their mark. I wish the pho broth was more pure but it was murky and not great. What seems to once be a well loved establishment seems to be going downhill. How Did They Mess Up Pho This Badly? Food: 2/10 I was so excited to try this place with my sister--decent reviews, 4-star rating--I thought we were in for a treat. But boy, was I wrong. This is hands down the worst pho I've ever had. The broth? Completely flavorless. No amount of hoisin, Sriracha, or extra lime could save it. It literally tasted like they just boiled water and added brown food coloring. I asked for extra beef balls, and they gave me three... cut in half. Not only were they tiny, but the texture was off--like, is this even cooked? Price: 7/10 I'll give them this--the portions are solid, and it's cheap. But what's the point if the food is diabolical? Service: 3/10 I walked in prepared for bad service because the reviews said, "nasty attitude, but good food." But when the food isn't even good? Now we have a real problem. Ambiance: 5/10 The place actually smelled amazing when we walked in, which is so misleading because the food had zero flavor. Final Thoughts: I genuinely don't know how this place has 4 stars. Sacramento, explain yourselves. If you want actual flavorful pho, go literally anywhere else. read more

This is the 3rd time I've been here, trying a different dish every time. I like this place! Love they have a parking lot. Food: These portions are huge! The first time I came here they had Bun Rieu, however they don't serve this dish anymore. This time I got the dry noodles with grilled pork, egg rolls and shrimp. The fish sauce dressing was off this time, it was way too salty. We guessed maybe they mistakenly added salt instead of sugar. The waitress helped make a new fish sauce dressing for us which was much better. Second time I was here I liked the Bun Bo Hue. Big restaurant with generous portions and hearty pho! I came here for the first time on a rainy day and it definitely hit the spot. The pho was great, with flavorful soup. The shrimp and grilled pork spring roll was very good, especially with the peanut sauce that comes with it. Holy portion sizes batman! I ordered a small #1 combo and had soup for three days! Just delicious. Like most South Sacramento Pho places, Xe Lua is more about getting you in, feeding you, and getting you out. Super fast service, STEAMING bowls of soup, and efficient staff. I also really enjoyed the Banh Xeo crepe with shrimp and pork. It was over-stuffed and did not hold together well, but it all mixed together in the lettuce wrap for a delicious bite with many flavors and textures at once. This spot is a Sacramento staple for pho. The restaurant has a lot of clean tables, a big menu, quick service, & friendly staff. If you're looking for servers that wait you hand and foot, this is not the place. However, anytime you need anything, there's always someone around to help & get you what you need. 10/10 - #1 Combination House Special Beef Noodle Soup Pho (add tendon): one of my favorite pho broths, it's full of beef bone flavor & well seasoned; the noodles have a great texture & soft. Any of the beef phos are a must try! 10/10 - #34 Charbroiled Shrimp with Chicken with Egg Roll Vermicelli: the meats have a delicious char, the egg roll dipped in the sauce is so tasty, & the sauce mixed with everything is very appetizing. 10/10 - #109 Cubed Steak (shaking beef): great alternative for a beef meal that's not soup; the beef is cooked into bite sized tender pieces with an amazing flavor. 9/10 - #25 Beef Stew Rice Noodle Soup: another great choice if you don't want pho; sometimes the beef pieces aren't all super tender, but most of the time the meat is consistent. 5/10 - Shrimp & Pork Spring Rolls: this roll is very bland & dry due to the pork being boiled; the peanut sauce is average. Yes, we have vegan options. We have tofu spring rolls, pepper salted tofu, and vegetarian broth. You can order a vegetarian pho with vegetarian soup base. The default soup is chicken so please let us know you prefer vegetarian.

Yes, we do. Please specify that you want vegetarian broth as chicken broth is the default. You can add white or deep fried tofu for $3.50. The rest are all vegetables, no meat.

It was our first time assembling our own spring rolls at the table, which made for a fun and memorable dining experience. The beef rib pho was packed with flavor, generously portioned, and easily left us with enough leftovers for another meal. I also tried Nem Chua (fermented pork) for the first time and absolutely loved it. Everything tasted fresh, simple, and homemade--the kind of food that feels like it was made with care. The hospitality was warm and welcoming, and I appreciated that they're open earlier in the morning, making it a convenient option compared to many other Vietnamese restaurants. The cà phê dừa was blended so it was more smoothie-like. The sweet coconut balanced out the strong coffee. Overall, we had a great and filling lunch. Out of all this shop's positive traits -- portion size, taste, authenticity -- the most head-turning of them all lies in their menu prices. $6+tax for a large sandwich ($3.25 for small) is unheard of, particularly in California. Even with Doordash's greedy middleman antics, the all-inclusive total with the DashPass comes out to slightly more than $10 per sandwich. I doubt that there's any contention about Duc Huong serving the best banh mis in Sacramento. With its consistent taste and absurdly cheap prices, I'm hard pressed to try another establishment.
