We came here for the beef pho and also ordered lemon grass wings. The wings were good but the pho was kind of crazy. I am use to ordering beef pho and it being grilled beef rib eye. I ordered the three types of beef and for it to be cooked. When our pho arrived there were so many pieces of what looked like tripe in it. I ordered beef brisket, and the 2 other rare steak but asked for it to be cooked since I'm pregnant. I'm well aware of what these types of beef are. There were several white pieces in my soup that were NOT BEEF and it wasn't fat from the beef. I don't eat that nor did I order that. I just ate the noodles out and took the rest to go for my dogs. My son didn't eat his at all. I would recommend only if you don't mind surprises in your food. Honestly it seems like everything in the back is mixed together because there were over 10 pieces of this white stuff in my bowl. Per a recommendation from my friend's parents who are Sacramento locals, this is the go to spot when you are craving a steamy warm delicious bowl of pho. Their Xlarge pho bowls are the largest I have ever encountered and the portions were incredibly generous. I highly suggest just going for the small or large unless you are prepared to food coma hard after this meal. The broth was somewhat more bland than most phos but it still contained a good beefy flavor. The rare steak, flank, and tripe were thin, hearty, and tasty. The sweet and sour chicken was crispy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside, which was perfect with a big bowl of rice. The place definitely attracts big families because its much larger than most Viet restaurants and on a Sunday morning, we had to wait 10 minutes to seat a group of 7. Our family used to eat Pho every week before we moved up to Sac and we have been craving a good place since we moved. Last night, thanks to Yelp we found it. I had a #3, my husband had a #7 and our daughter had a #14. They were all excellent! The portions are huge, a "small" is a great meal for yourself unless you want to share then get a large or extra large. We also had the shrimp fresh rolls and 2 orders was more than enough for our family to share. Definitely plan to go again, it was authentic and fantastic! This is one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants to pick up pho xe lua (special with everything in it) and seafood chow run. Omg they are so good my 2 year old daughter always asks for it. The broth is clean and clear. My family owns restaurants so I know how pho is supposed to be made and I must say they have my approval. Nothing like a home cook pho but they are close to it when I can't go back home to the bay. The staff are nice and food is always consistent. I come here for different dishes but pho and chow me in are my favorites, approved by my daughter and boyfriend. On Easter Sunday we came here as a group of 18 to celebrate Easter after church. We were surprised that they could fit all of us in short amount of time. This restaurant was huge! They give you a lot of coffee which is surprising because usually when you order a slow drip coffee at a Vietnamese restaurant, you only get a small amount and you drink it super fast! Nope not here! This was the first pho placed I tried in Sacramento. It was always my to go place to eat when I was craving Vietnamese food. As an UC Davis student, I was always willing to drive here to eat at night because there are no good pho options in Davis. Interior is quite big, looks like an average Vietnamese that is decently clean. Food is great! My pho comes out fast and hot! There's plenty of meat and soup is quite flavorful. However, the other food isn't as great such as their fried rice. It was a bit lacking in flavor and rice sometimes comes out in chunks. Just come for the pho! read more

Best pho on Stockton boulevard. I always get the small bowls because the large bowls are super big! If you are that hungry, go for it! I always get a seafood bowl and I am satisfied with the he right noodles to shrimp ratio. Before they even bring your food they bring you a plate full of jalapeños, basil, and bean sprouts. They are never stingy with the ingredients either, so you never have to ask for extra. Finally, when you get your bowl of pho they bring chopsticks and a large spoon. When I make my soup I put a lot of plum sauce and a lot of Sriracha in my bowl, it has to be super spicy! Although the outside of the building isn't the most appealing, and the decorations are a little outdated, the food is delicious! I got the small pho with (#10) with steak, tripe and brisket. It was so good and the broth is so flavorful! I also ordered 2 spring rolls with shrimp and it was so good. They give you two really big spring rolls. My roommate ordered pho with just tofu and vegetables and it looked delicious. The Thai tea boba is just okay, but know that they have options for different kinds of boba! The prices are great. This is the expectation at typical Vietnamese restaurants. However, at Pho Xe Lua, there is someone who might refill your water! Someone filled ours up--I was pleasantly surprised and can't not give this place a solid 4 stars! Pho is good, service is fast and good too! I came here after a trip to Lake Tahoe on Christmas Eve for lunch. The restaurant is big and spacious, good for a big party. I came here at 12PM and was seated right away in the back. While sitting down and ordering, there were another 3 big group came in. The menu included rice, noodles and appetizer like spring roll and egg rolls. Their specialty is pho so we order pho and couple of rice plate. The pho broth was good. They gave you a lot of noodles! A small is way too much for me! I only can eat half because there were too much noodles so it is good for sharing! There is not a lot of meats so just order one bowl and extra meats if you want to share! Overall, pho is good and service is quick! This is certainly one of our favorite places for pho! I have never been disappointed here! Plus this is one of the few places where they include saw leaves with the condiments. To me, that's a mark of a quality pho restaurant. It'll be harder to get as Winter nears. Of course the other important quality is the broth. This place has some of the most flavorful broth. The pho here is not very good. The portions are large however the pho itself was quite salty, and missing that clean / fatty broth. The noodles were alright however the sliced beef was quite tough. Pho Xe Lua is definitely not your typical Vietnamese pho restaurant at all. And I mean this with good thoughts in mind. Upon entering, the pho aroma already gets your mouth to water. We got seated promptly by our server and were given a few minutes to review the menu. Shortly after, our orders were taken and then food brought out shortly after. Short and sweet experience. The pho, first and most important thing to mention, for me at least, is the temperature of the broth. It came out steaming hot and remained hot throughout the meal. The broth is so flavorful and tasty. It warmed my soul. The boyfriend got the XL, Xe Lua Dac Biet and I got the same thing in a small. Portion for price is great. We ordered shrimp and pork spring rolls and our server actually gave her recommendations in trying it with shrimp and grilled pork instead of steamed. Boyfriend thought their spring roll peanut sauce was on point. Aside from his favorite pho restaurant in Stockton, the guy has a high standard for pho restaurants and stated this place is comparable so he was definitely happy. Service, especially for a Vietnamese restaurant, was superb. Our server was attentive and efficient. She checked on us multiple times and like a fellow Yelper mentioned, gave a lot of care to our water cups. We are happy we found a new go-to for pho!
