Hi Yelp!'ers If you're looking for the perfect Pho Spot look no further. Pho Xe Lua is probably the best Pho place in town. For one, It's spacious with a good sized parking lot so parking's a breeze and the staff is polite but direct lol. It's definitely an in-n-out kinda spot. Every time my Husband and I go we always get sat quickly and we usually already know what we want since we go so often. I always order a Large #1 combination Pho and my Husband usually gets the Large Shrimp Pho, and an order of their fried egg rolls. Sometimes we order other items because they also offer Chinese food as well. We often order their combination fried rice, or their Kung Poa Chicken...but to be honest these last few times I wasn't a big fan of the fried rice...I felt it lacked flavor, so, we just stick to the Pho now. What we enjoy most about Pho Xe Lua is the ambiance. On a cold winters night the last thing anyone wants to do is get all dressed up to eat some pho lol. I just wear my Sweat pants and call it a day lol. That probably sounds awful, but that's what I enjoy most. Good food, good service, and good prices. My least favorite place so far. I brought my family here and we ordered pho. It was so terribly watered down that we didn't even finish our bowls. When I mean watered down, it tasted like they added the additional water from when they cooked the rice noodles. Or. They just made a bad batch. Trying to think back on this place i cant never think of a time where i got bad service, so because of that im staying with 5 stars!! The service is friendly and they keep your water always filled, they are quick to take your order and quick to bring it out to the table, im a sucker for Ox tail so i always order the number 26 i get the small bowl and is so filling i struggle finishing it. My wife gets the meat balls lol she likes them balls lol and believe it or not she takes them balls down lol. My ox tail phó was so flavorful the rice noodles are perfectly cooked and the ox tail was very tasty, they bring you a plate full of bean sprouts and Thai basil to add to your phó, and they bring lime and jalapeños. I love this place and recommend it if you know of a better place let me know! But i have not found a better place that serves ox tail phó in south sac. Sketchy area, plenty of parking, and south of Sacramento. Not the best combination. Went here on a rainy day with bf because I get he wanted Vietnamese food. Lol I mean, why not grab some by Elk Grove you know? Lol Inside it's pretty spacious. You see the usual table settings and waiting for a waitress to assist you. I noticed there aren't waiters but just waitresses. They're bussers, a waitress, and also someone who refills condiments in empty containers. Lol Anyways, bf ordered grilled chicken with rice, salad on the side, and it came with soup and fish sauce (pictures below). I got the catfish clay pot with rice ( rice cost me $2-$3). BUT. Oh yes a But...surprisingly the waitress didn't know it was sweet and salty catfish, but thought it was a soup based dish that is sour(like it would have pineapple in it. I knew what she meant I'm Vietnamese myself lol). So I asked her if they carry that sweet and salty catfish clay pot because that's the only dish on the menu that says both "catfish" and "clay pot", BUT she insisted it wasn't. Lol she had to wave down a waitress to confirm if it was and...OF COURSE IT WAS. Lol so I got it. Hah. Boyfriend enjoyed his dish. Finished most of it. Lol I did enjoyed mines as well. It was hot! Not the burning hot but it came out of the ocean hot! Sweet and salty with an overpowering fish sauce smell. If you're into that then yea, try this dish. Lol sweet, salty, fishy smell, served in a clay pot! Overall, I like this place. Sucks that it's in the south area of Sacramento. But you'll enjoy the food. I've been here on numerous occasions but didn't realize I never posted a review. For starters, I only come here for the pho, and 99.9% of the time it has only been for take out (even pre-covid) If you take home a pho size xe lua, it can easily feed up to 2-3 people (depending how much you eat), they give you plenty of noodles & meat to share. The pho broth itself in my opinion is a bit too salty, since I'm always bringing it home, I like to pour in extra water & add extra beef balls I bought from the Asian market. Overall I recommend this place based on pho. Other items I've tried from their menu such as rice plates, hu tieu, & vermicelli noodles are mediocre, but not bad at all! read more

Just tried this place today at noon. The Pho was delicious but one of the old ladies was rude when we were asking for utensils.

Used to come here a lot before covid. Pretty busy during lunch but I've never had to wait to be seated. You order quickly and food comes out very fast. I think generally I wait less than 10mins for my food? Portion sizes are bigggg, so my family usually orders like 3 XL phos and shares. Their pho is great, and I've also tried their vermicelli ? Noodles with the grilled pork and some salad and fish sauce which is also great. Prices are very reasonable. Service is eh, but at authentic asian places like this I don't expect much, you're there for the food, not the service. We got takeout from them once during covid and we just called in and picked up. We did have to boil the soup again and add the noodles once we got home though, since it's all packaged seperately and by the time you get back the soup just isn't hot enough but it wasn't hard and didn't take that long. read more

Check your receipt: They added $20 on top of our original tip! We added a 15% tip when we paid at the counter. On our way out, we asked for a receipt to split the bill, and later we noticed an additional tip subtly added at the very bottom. So, we were charged a 31% tip on our entire tab. We would have never noticed this had we not asked for an itemized receipt and actually read through it. Disputing this charge once it clears, but be wary of this practice. Definitely a place to visit. Lots of parking and the place is very big compared to other restaurants. The pho has different sizes (from regular all the way to XL). Not too noticeable of a difference between large and XL, but you can tell that the portions will be bigger than your regular pho place. The price is very reasonable compared to a lot of other pho places. Pho was very good but nothing that distinguishes it between other pho places. Between the pho and the vermicelli noodles though, I really enjoyed their vermicelli noodles more. The charbroiled pork was super flavorful and the dish was just very refreshing on a hot summer day. Pho Dac Biet: A standard albeit unflavorful pho broth and cuts of beef, nothing bad about it but not amazing either. Shrimp and Pork Spring Rolls: You get 2 giant rolls with an order; however the filling was mostly iceberg lettuce and a little big of vermicelli. First timers! There are so so many pho places around here we just picked one. (Well, I give credits to my bf he picked this place lol) I'm super glad he did because this place is bomb. During the night time it's a little dark in the parking lot but we survived. It was pretty busy on a sunday night around 8 p.m. We got sat right away. We ordered one small pho and a XL pho, as well as 2 smoothies. After order was placed we got our pho literally like, 5 minutes later! I was like wow! I came here one day after work because I was craving some pho. Ordered a large number 12 for takeout because there was no seating (thank you for not opening up for indoor seating). My order came out 1 minute later and I was on my way. There was enough food for my dinner that day as well as lunch the next day. The pho noodles were soft and chewy, the broth was clear and very tasty, and there was so much meat. One thing is the meat was not that flavorful but it was probably because I didn't soak it in the broth as I was heating it up. I come here specifically for the pho. Their other food is just so-so, in my opinion. I keep coming back because the pho is great. I can't say the service is terrible because they do do the bare minimum. As soon as you sit down I kid you not within a minute you're being asked if you're ready to order. There's been times when I got something different than pho and I've been approached 3 times within the first 5 minutes for my order. No matter what you get the food typically comes out quick, fresh and generally tastes good. You can guarantee that your server will not come and check on you anymore once you put in your order. I subtracted one star due to the lack of service for a dine in. Another thing I don't care for is you go up front to pay and you can't see your total before taxes being added, some people don't know that you calculate a tip BEFORE taxes. Great local Vietnamese restaurant in Stockton with a wide variety of dishes ranging from classic Vietnamese pho/vermicelli/broken rice to Thai and Chinese noodles. It's popping right now with a lot of dine-in seats available after reopening. I would recommend the grilled pork and eggroll with either vermicelli or broken rice. The fatty pork is cut into thin strips with a delicious charred flavor to it. I've also had the pho here, and you can't go wrong with it either. I have not been here in 9 years due to food not being so great and staff being rude, guess what? It's still the same. Lady at cash register was rude and also demanding a tip, magically her machine went down due to my lady and I canceling the tip option. Then she asked we pay cash, then she said her card reader was up and running again.
