This is a beautiful place because the food hits my soul and I feel it. I feel a buzzing sensation eating the food. It's spicy, tangy, sweat and it pops. I had #28 and it was perfect. The fresh veggies glow with beauty the same way the mountains on this island glow in the sun. This restaurant respects the ingredients. It's speaks to me in a way that only homemade food can. This is the place that everyone needs to feel better. IF YOU GO TO PANDA EXPRESS ACROSS THE PARKING LOT JUST DON'T COME TO HAWAII !!!!! read more

Pho Kapaa - #28 - Vietnamese Near Me - Kapaa, Hawaii

Super fast service, and they speak English. Their oxtail pho is $15.99 I didn't get it... but oxtail soup and pho are my favorite. Being Vietnamese, I know pho when I taste one! All these places that you call "good or delicious or way better", try ask them how much MSG they put in their pho. And then send a state representative down there who's allergic to MSG to test the amounts they put in it. That artificial flavor that makes you eat large amounts of broth, yeah.... that's what you're tasting. Anyway! Today we got the combination pho (pho dac biet) and chicken pho (pho ga). Ask for your steak to be on the outside put some lemon on it then simmer it in your broth. You can also ask to make your soup extra hot before it comes out. Will have to come here again when we visit! read more

The most amazing chicken wings with delicious spices and perfectly fried. I got the duck noodle soup which was very light and filling. My husband got the pork egg and rice and loved it! The owners are very sweet as well and price was very reasonable. 100% recommend and make sure to get the chicken wings! read more

Ordered two front page Bun bo soups. One duck one beef. For those familiar with the typical amount of noodles you get, welll divide by 3. That's how much noodles you get. Broth is sorry. Had to add hosin, sriracha just to make it taste like something. Meat? One small bone with some meat on it. ONE! Rest of floating fat. No tripe, no thin sliced beef. Nothing but floating soft beef fat. No side vegetables for either soup. No lemon for either soup. Summer rolls peanut sauce was watery. The price came. $19 for each soup! I pointed to the fact that their menu page where Bun bo is states $11-14 range. Well apparently this was SPECIAL hence $19. Can't imagine what non-specials taste then!!! This is atrocity of Vietnamese food. read more

Your not gonna like Kapaa Pho, compare to Lihue Pho by the bowling alley....They are two diffrent owners and not related in anyway. Kapaa Pho has to much salt and what ever the hell they have in their soups and meal itself. Compared to Lihue Pho by the bowling alley, their soups are absolutely on it and all their dish is fabulous. Lihue Pho even out beat Hamura Saimen. Kapaa Pho's aint gonna last too long the rate they make their foods. I rate Kapaa Pho a "0" outta 10! read more

It's pretty funny to read the reviews from people who live in huge metropolitan areas with literally dozens of pho restaurants and declare how this place isn't as good as the ones back home. Oh how shocking! You mean in your town with a population of millions (and using yelp) you found a place better than this one? No joke? Pho on Kauai - with its 2 pho restaurants, 60,000 residents and 2800 miles from any other place - isn't all you had hoped? Well.. I'll bet you the poke we sell at our grocery stores beats anything in LA. I bet our fresh sashimi on my friends boat beats any places you've got in San Francisco. And our water here is blue! Your water is brown. But I'm not on Yelp complaining about it. So tell you what, maybe judge something based on where it is? For where we are, this place is very good. The owner works his butt off and he's a nice guy. Yes the service is grouchy sometimes. But I never even give it a thought. It's like every restaurant I ever ate at in Boston. I've been taking my family here since 2005..never one bad meal. Let's quit using Yelp to judge everything so harshly. read more

We tried this for the first time on a Sunday. It was decent as far as pho options go. It was the only one opened within driving distance on that day. The pho broth is good. We were trying to find pho that didn't have a particular spice that my wife and I nickname "Christmas pho" and it seemed that they used less of it. It's a spice that we can't really nail down but we liken it to cinnamon. We generally don't like it. Compared to the pho location by the bowling alley, it's much better. The noodles were slightly over cooked but not a deal breaker for me. The only negative thing I would note is that they charge a lot for extra add ins to pho. I asked for tendon and they charged $7 just for that add on. It seemed like a lot. Other than that it was better broth than Pho Kauai. read more

Pho Kapaa - The cost for 3 bowls of pho and one added ingredient (tendon) costing $7. - Vietnamese Near Me - Kapaa, Hawaii

This is truly an authentic Vietnamese food experience. The pho, Bun Vermicelli, and Banh Mi Pork were out of this world. Friendly owner. We spoke and found out they use to live in NYC. Must place to visit read more

Our first dine in at a restaurant since the reopening of dine in during this pandemic. Took my boys here for a late lunch. We were the only customers at the time we walked in. It didn't look like there was any tables blocked to enforce the new norm of social distancing but since it was empty it was basically open seating. There was a big container of hand sanitizer and a sign at the door saying masks are required. The staff greeted us and we were served pretty quickly. They have a big menu with lots of different things to choose from. My boys and I usually get pho bowls. I did notice that when people started coming in the staff didn't spread them out and let the customer choose to sit where they wanted to which for some reason seemed to sit around us. My son noticed that the only ones who wore masks were the servers, the rest of the staff didn't wear masks. Aside that the food was really good and satisfied our pho cravings. read more

Very reasonably priced and good-tasting food, along with fast and friendly service. I had a bowl of Pho with well-done Flank, my dining partner had a veggie and eggplant stir fry with chicken. Both were tasty (though the stir fry did require the Sriracha sauce available on every table). Decent meals that represent an excellent value on Kauai given their price (both entrees were a bit under $10). read more

So good! Prices were very reasonable, fast and friendly. Hubby and I both had the lobster balls and two beef Pho.

Better pho is only 15 minutes away at Pho Kauai in Lihue. While this restaurant is serviceable and not bad food, it falls into one of my pet peeves of flavorless ethnic food. Really? Do I have to bring my fish sauce with me to a pho restaurant? If you're in a pinch and don't want to go to a better pho restaurant and are okay with mediocre food, this place is perfect for you. read more

If you're looking for pho on the island, you have two options, but if you want pho with a smile, come here! We really liked Pho Kapa'a, their food is tasty, service is friendly, and the restaurant is clean. The pho broth was clean and not fatty (like someone else's) and had an ample amount of ingredients. The bunh had a nice variety, we ordered it with chicken, shrimp, and egg rolls. The chicken was very dry, but the shrimp were large and the egg roll was decent. It came with shredded lettuce, pickled vegetables, and cucumbers with fish sauce. The only disappointing item was their banh mi, we tried the char siu, which was definitely pre-packaged, and was a hefty $6.95. The bread was more like a toasted ciabatta bun, so it wasn't quite right, but kudos to them for trying hard. Our server Karen was super sweet. Give this place a try. They just opened in early September 2013. read more

These people were so great that they pop up in my memory whenever I think of Hawaii. They served us like family, and the food was so delicious. Beautiful energy, I'll come back here every time I visit Kapaa. read more

My favorite pho place on Kauai. They give the most food and the taste is also the best. Recently, I tried Lihue Pho. Similar tasting broth to kapaa pho but kapaa pho gives way more. Egg rolls here are legit. I like that they have the lemongrass chilli oil thing here. Their bun (dry vermicelli with veggies n meat) is the bomb. Its waaay better than kauai pho, portion is larger and meat is leaner. However, i must admit kauai pho's pork does have a better taste. Nonetheless, the pork is still good here! This place is amazingly clean. Staff is friendly and quick. The walls are light green which makes it calming for me...again, this is my fave vietnamese restaurant on kauai so far. read more

3 stars because the pho broth was very flavorful but minus 2 stars because our food took over 30 minutes to arrive at our table. They also served 2 tables 15-20 minutes before us though we arrived and ordered before these other tables. They also had several take out orders picked up while we were sitting waiting for our food. The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived so that's not the reason for the super long wait. I almost wanted to walk out of the restaurant. If you're in absolutely no rush, not ravishingly hungry and don't mind unnecessary waiting and crave Vietnamese food this restaurant is tasty and authentic. BUT I will never go there again. read more

Came. A I for a second day in a row. The pho is that good. This is it favorite place on the island. Mahalo

Best bun I've ever had, service was great, restaurant overall was amazing. Small place that has amazing food.

Great pho and even better service! They were super busy when we went but seated us within 10 minutes and food was out super quickly.

Busy resto. All the tables are taken, so we were about to just order togo when a table got vacant, so decided to stay and eat here, took awhile to get the table cleaned, took awhile to get the orders, took awhile to serve the food. When we got it, the rolls were tiny for a $7.50 (2pcs). Then we ordered a Pho and rice stir fry... whatever is in the pho, they are floating in broth. Meaning, too much broth too little noodles and meats (tough and hard to chew). I think, I just got full from sipping the broth. Even the stir fry has nothing special that would make us come back for more. Lastly, took awhile to get our bill. Five stars for the friendly service. read more

Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine claim is misleading as it is asian fusion. Fried lobster balls - just okay - served with Thai spicy sweet and sour sauce. Pho combination - comes with a thicker rice noodle than the traditional pho noodles. Broth was bland. Rare steak was over cooked and dry. Beef balls were cut into quarters pieces. Flank was tough and chewy. Tendon was hard like plastic. Tripe had a nice texture but only got one piece. read more

One thing about this place is that they are very excited that you are there!! Excellent service for sure. Food is not that great and that is and should always be the most important thing in a restaurant. It is a vietnamese place without much flavor to it. I have been to other places and enjoyed their vegetarian dishes. This one does not have a single one on their menu. The waiter immediately consulted the chef and came up with a vegetarian dish for us. It was terrible, I could not finish mine. Money was wasted but I will still give them good marks for enthusiasm. Try it once and decide for yourself, I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Was really craving something soupy so we decided to come here. First thing I noticed - there was a screaming boy at the back table (maybe the managers kid) - but it wasn't TOO bad. I ordered a pho w/ rare steak - comes out quick! They serve it in a huge bowl that looks super intimidating but there's not too much in there besides soup. My sister and I were both pretty disappointed and left feeling hungry. Also, there was only like 3 small pieces of meat in there :( But on a more positive note... the soup was really good! But don't think its worth $10. read more

Great pho! Lots of selections and the broth is not salty. It was busy and the restaurant was a bit crowded for my taste... but our order came out quickly. read more

Honesty alert - I've never tried Pho before. We're traveling w/ my mother in-law and her stomach was bothering her. Figured ramen or pho could help. I got a regular beef pho, wife got vegetable pho and mother in-law got a shrimp pho. They gave us a shared plate w/ mung bean sprouts, Thai basil, lemon wedges and jalapeño pepper slices. I'm normally a ramen fellow, but I really enjoyed the light beef broth, rice noodles, then slices of beef (that were raw but becomes cooked in the broth) and adding the sprouts, basil and pepper. Nice restaurant, nice food, nice experience! read more

My husband came in here today for some dinner. We arrived from Seattle today and we're looking forward to trying the local restaurants. This place, in general, seems nice. It's clean, the staff is friendly and the pho bowl was huge. The pho, on the other hand, is insanely bland. I added so much salt, sriracha, hoisin sauce and citrus to my pho and it was still so bland. We did the love the noodles, but we were super unhappy with the amount of meat. I was weirded out by the lemon instead of lime like I'm used to. We also got some summer rolls and they were flavorless, add some basil and more cucumber. Either way, we wouldn't recommend. read more
