I'd say this place is pretty in line with Pho Kauai. The portion size here is WAY better, beef is of higher quality and is offered in larger amounts, many more basil leaves and other sides offered here though. However, the broth tasted bland. It wasn't bad and when I had it on its own it tasted good. It just doesn't soak into the noodles, and it doesn't hold up to the quality of the noodles nor beef. I'd definitely eat here again though. This is probably one of the worst places I have ever ate in Kauai. Portion size is not worth the price they charge!!! Over price and under deliver. Order pho to go and seriously there was more basil than noodles and the soup wasn't even filled 3/4 of the container. The teriyaki beef had maybe about 4 small slices of beef and nothing but onions as the rest!!!!!! Very disappointing. What a waste of my money and time driving to this crap of a restaurant. We were very happy with the wonderful food and service at Pho Kappa. We had variations of Pho, a papaya salad and a stir fry. Boba and Pearl Tea destination on Kauai! My daughter is the pearl tea aficionado and she gives the pearls the thumbs up. Pearls were delicious and soft with the right consistency, and the mango smoothie was sweet and simple. My wife loved the fresh papaya salad and I was pleased with the Pho. A popular Kauai guidebook led us to Pho Kapaa for bahn mi sandwiches with a note that this is what will "keep us coming back." But not so much, I think. While the sandwiches looked amazing, they were mostly bread - albeit good bread but even so, a disappointment with so little within of what makes a bahn mi. Our sandwiches had barely any pork, scant pieces of cucumber and a bit of shredded carrot. The flavor was good but for $8 I expect more than a piece of bread. Quite possibly the worst Pho we've ever had. The spring rolls were tasteless. They had no mint in them and appeared to not be seasoned at all. Hubby had the pho soup. Was not impressed. The broth was bland. He did say the meatballs weren't too bad. He tried to add some flavor by adding sriracha sauce but that didn't help. He said it was like they had watered it down. I had a noodle bowl with chicken. The peanuts were more like a sprinkling of peanut dust, the noodles were not typical rice noddles and, like the other items we ordered, it was unseasoned and bland.. So happy we found this hidden gem!! Was craving Asian food and Pho Kapaa OVER DELIVERED. Wasn't expecting much since I'm from Los Angeles and we have an abundance of good Vietnamese cuisine but Pho Kapaa is just as comparable! Very expensive for a pho store. An average pho costs $10, but the portion is very small. It is about the size of an pack of instant ramen noodles. It is ridiculous. Services are not good. They let you wait a long time. The worst thing is that they serve someone they knew faster than someone they don't know. The guys on the next table came 10 minutes later than me and they got served 5 minutes earlier. I don't understand why, two people came later got their foods before my single order. I can tell they knew each other because the way they talk. That is the only reason why they are treated differently. read more

Pho Kapaa is a quiet, unassuming spot in the shopping center with Safeway. Pho is my favorite food, hands down and the broth here is amazing. We came back multiple times on our vacation and brought our two children who loved the chicken pho and the teriyaki beef plate. The prices are totally reasonable and the proprietor was friendly and even remembered our orders. Even with all the established resort food and "hip" startup trucks on the island, this place was our favorite! read more

Where do start?...Don't bother....had the Pho...like dirty tasteless dishwater...2 strands of chicken...what was the point...terrible the worst I have ever had. Anybody being introduced to Vietnamese food for the first time would not probably try again! Here is the finale....couple sitting opposite us by the wall....large cockroach runs down the wall and sits on the top of their chilli sauce bottle which has an open top. Pho was good, definitely better that average, but the place could use a good deep cleaning. There wasn't a pile of anything, just that layer of funk that builds up over time when a place is moved into and then not maintained. Walls, ledges, corners, sills, Etc. Also, the abundance of peeling wallpaper is a good indication that they haven't done much since they moved in. Get two people in there for a day cleaning and fixing up things and that place would look as good as the pho tasted. Also, I wouldn't allow my child to touch that child seat much less need from it. They get one star because the server was friendly and fast. The veg pho had absolutely zero flavor. I'm not sure what they use for broth, but even calling it broth is a stretch. We've been coming here once a week for a couple of months now and it's our favorite. Tried the one in Lihue but had horrible service. This place has friendly service and my fiancé is a pretty hard sell on customer service. He loves this place. The gentleman already knows our order and confirms it once we walk in the door. We found this restaurant in our last day in Kauai and we are glad we did. They just opened 6 days ago so they are still working out the kinks on the service side.
