Stopped in here today after shopping in the strip mall nearby and grabbed a mango with boba smoothie and a taro smoothie to go. Both were super delicious especially on a warm day it was a nice treat. The inside is super clean, and the gentleman that helped us was really nice and welcomed us with a smile. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because we had to wait so long for our drinks. There were only 2 other people eating in the restaurant and one lady was getting frustrated because she was waiting for her check for some time. They may have been a little short staffed that day but I would definitely go back for the smoothies. Haven't tried to food, but I will eventually. read more

I stopped here on a whem. First time here. Very glad I stopped here. Instead of the usual Pho that I would order. I tried #24. This was pho with short ribs. You receive 3 nice size beef bones. I felt like this was a family run business. Everybody was courteous, friendly and prompt. Definitely give this restaurant a try. You will come back again. I will for sure. Customer service was questionable, serving sizes atrocious and server's language barrier caused ordering to go wrong. The man working helped 4-5 to-go customers while completely ignoring both myself and another table, who looked equally befuddled at the process and service. When the server finally did acknowledge my existence, I asked if they had sweet and sour sauce to eat with salad rolls because I have a peanut allergy. He said they did not have sweet and sour, I asked him to remove them from my order. He brought them anyway, with peanut sauce. Also ordered the small fillet pho, for around $18, and they weren't kidding. It was literally the smallest bowl of pho I have ever been served, about 1/3 the size of a small pho anywhere else. Pho tasted fine, but the entire experience has left a bad taste in my mouth. Spent $34, only to be hungry an hour later. I do not recommend. read more

The banh mi here is really good--the bread is fresh, soft, and gets that nice crispy texture. The marinade has great flavor, and they use fresh veggies, though I do wish they'd add a little more jalapeño. The rare steak pho was decent--not bad at all, but it didn't exactly wow me. One thing I really appreciate is how clean and approachable the restaurant feels. There's tons of parking, the booths are nice and comfortable, and I love how bright the space is thanks to the big windows letting in all that natural sunlight. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! Horrible customer service. Dirty restaurant. The old man that takes orders and serves doesn't know anything about customer service. He first got upset because my kids couldn't stay still and were playing with a pair of wooden chopsticks as we were waiting for food. When the food came out, I asked him for a bowl and he brought me a dirty one. I kindly asked him if he could exchange it and he did looking mad. He brought me a second plate that was even dirtier (greasy and with black stuff). He made me feel uncomfortable asking him for another one but I wasn't going to use a dirty one to serve my kids on. When I told him about it he took the plate very mad and finally brought me a clean one. He didn't even look embarrassed for bringing me dirty bowls. It made me question the cleanliness of the restaurant as a whole. Later I asked him for lemons as he was passing by and he didn't acknowledge me. I said "Sir" louder and he continued to walk away. I gave him the benefit of the doubt not knowing if he had heard me. He then brought me some lemons so I realized he purposely did not acknowledge me. Later I came to look at the reviews and noticed so many bad reviews about him. I'm never coming back to this location. This is my factor pho in all Of San Diego. The flavor is intense and always piping hot even after having driven home 20 mins. The rare beef is always very fresh. I always ask for it on the side. Me and my father have been going to this location for years, if you asked me a week ago I would have said it was awesome never a bad experience but unfortunately now I can not say that. My cousin came to visit with her kid so we all collectively agreed to go together pho, my mother, father, sister cousin, her son and I. This spot is conveniently located in the strip mall across from Aldi's and a short detour from 54. If you have been to the first location, this one is a contrast with smaller size, ample parking, fast food-like decor, and thankfully cleaner. After shopping, I wanted something quick and went with the bun/cold noodle vermicelli with beef and eggroll. There is no shortage of Vietnamese in the area but this one is convenient when I am on the road. The dish was tasty. I am still looking for a spot that actually grills their meat. read more

Food was great, we had beef & chicken Pho and Shrimp Spring Rolls. I've been eating Pho since 1994 and it was one of the best tasting soup and rolls. I have to say though that the service was less then desired; the waiter got upset st me when I asked him for a second serving of water and a side empty plate as we ordered a large Pho and I wanted to share with my wife. I will come back because of the food, but if the food was mediocre, I would not return. I gave a 4 star based on food, if service was more courtious, I would rate a 5. I really wanted a veggie style soup but with chicken as well so for an additional cost they brought out chicken on the side. The pho was perfectly seasoned, I've gotten better at tasting my dishes before adding hot sauce or seasoning and I'm glad I tried this first! The veggie pho was amazing, I wasn't sure about the broccoli at first but it paired well with the rest of the veggies and tofu. The service was good, staff was helpful and friendly as well. We went looking at all the stores in SD 'coz my son has this specific game that he wanted and and we got advice that 1 location had this game, and we went and finaly got his game. The moment he was happy I told him right away that it's time for LUNCH and the closest restaurant that we saw was this place called "PHO HUNG CALI 2". The Menu was easy to choose from especially since it has pictures. We ordered : * 2 orders of PORKCHOP and RICE * BEEF BBQ and rice with FISH CAKE, SHRIMP CAKE, and SHREDDED PORK. * NOODLES with FILET MIGNON and EGGROLLS that came with a SPECIAL SAUCE for it. The food here was good and Tasty, the meats are Tender and the portions are Big. Hi everyone, I usually don't like to put any comments, unless I really had an unpleasant experience!! My wife, my aunt an I, went to have dinner at this place on Friday night. The food was ok, but the costumer service left me angry, disappointed and shaking! When the time came to pay at the register, with the owner of this place, when I slide my card and try to give a TIP I mistakenly did not add the (2) ceros .00, in order for it to be a dollar amount. Rather, it showed and came out as 7 cents! That's when the owner started YELLING at me in front of everyone, the other 4 families (Parties) there, and telling me "DON'T COME BACK", "DON'T COME BACK"!! Even though i tried explaining to him in a courteous manner that I made a mistake, he kept yelling "GET OUT OF HERE AND DON'T COME BACK" because he thought I did NOT wanted to give the "OWNER" a tip!! I started shaking, confused and upset! I turned around, while the owner went crazy yelling, and while walking out I apologized with the other guests at other tables for what they had to experience, and told the owner twice "God Bless you Sir and have a good night" I have a heart condition and Diabetes, and don't want to expand on this because my health is more important than dealing with an unstable and crazy human being, who went bananas over a $7.00 vs a $.07 tip! Your health, emotional wellbeing and your dignity, are not worth reacting to a negative and/or lower level of what your common sense and empathy tells you to! If this guy reacted the way he did as an owner, in front of other guests at his restaurant, and with the type of ethics under the standards of ANY business, these reasons will tell you the type of business he runs! Stopped in because I was in the area and was craving a sandwich, specifically a banh mi. Restaurant was clean, they weren't super busy, there were maybe 6 or so people dining in. Ordered 2 banh mi one chicken and one filet, told the guy I was running into Aldi to grab milk and I'd be right back to pick them up. Came back and they were ready, they smelled sooo good. Grabbed the bag and didn't bother double checking my order. Got home and realized one was chicken and one was Pork, at this point it was too late to go back I live 20 min away. But besides that little mix up the food was great! The bread was warm and fresh, the veggies were crisp and fresh and the pork and chicken were on point! I love a good bowl of Bún and Pho Hung Cali 2 sure makes a great one. I usually go for chicken or pork as my protein, but this time around, I went for the filet mignon with the egg rolls for about $9. The mignon was super tender and lightly seasoned. The bowl came with a good amount too. The Vietnamese Egg Rolls were terrific. They offered a great crispy exterior and the ingredients inside were tasty. I love dipping these in the fish sauce. All the rest of the items in the Bún were fresh and very good. The vermicelli noodles were cooked just right and were served at the correct room temp. I come here often and have always enjoyed the food but after tonight I will never come back. My family and I had just finished our food and it tasted great no issues with the food or service until I saw the employee bus a table who left. He kept the plate with sprouts and basil and put it on top of the cart he had. I found that odd being that normally food is thrown in the trash that's with the cart he was pushing. I had a clear shot to the kitchen where I was sitting and I witnessed him grab the plate and put it to the side next to the food line. Absolutely disgusting! I got up to walk to the bathroom to verify that was the plate it was sitting there not thrown in the trash. There is no other reason why that would be saved unless they planned on reusing it. read more

The bad: *Dirty utensils storage *Dirty sriracha, and hoisin sauce squeeze bottles. * Watery peanut sauce- Easy fix, thicken it just a little so it will adhere better to the fresh rolls * Wilted and dry mint leaves *Fly inside- The door is wide open.
