Vietnamese Roll

This place is awesome.....called and they were not open yet they put together an order for pick up. The food is good and pricing very reasonable. The Vietnamese deep fried rolls are out of this world and worth ordering. I would visit this place when in Kitchener

Pho with raw beef
Larry H.

In town on business, and tried this place based on the other Yelp reviews. Wow. Excellent. I love pho, and this was some of the best I've had. Sadly, no jalapeños to put in the broth, but that didn't matter. I have the rice noodle pho with raw beef. Beef was tender, and the broth was hearty. I also tried the egg rolls as an appetizer. They were made from scratch, and they were amazing! Best I've ever had. Highly recommend trying this place. Very clean, and good service.

Rare well done pho

Chicken pad thai
Nathan W.

This place is a stand out amongst the Kitchener Waterloo Vietnamese restaurants. The first thing I noticed was how clean the place was (the washrooms were super clean) as there are some KW Vietnamese restaurants that I really can't say the same for. Came here and had the chicken pad thai, which was around $12 including tax and tip, so the menu is affordable. The food itself was good, there was really nothing to complain about, the chicken pad thai had a little bit of a kick to it(something I noticed since the other pad thai options of beef and shrimp had a chili symbol next to them on the menu while the chicken did not). However, the spiciness didn't take away from the food at all. The staff were very friendly and accommodating as well, they provided us with extra limes when asked and frequently checked on us. Overall a good experience and will definitely come back if I'm in the area again.

Shrimp and pork salad rolls (which, on their menu they actually called these "Spring Rolls")
Lil N.

12:30pm, Friday, July 17, 2015: I ordered a shrimp and pork salad roll (on this restaurant's menu they call it a shrimp and pork "Spring Roll" though that term normally is used for the fried rolls). This was $4.50 and it came with two rolls. It was good. I enjoyed it. It came with real peanut sauce instead of just straight Hoisin sauce. I also ordered a Wonton soup, for $5.75 for a small bowl I think. Delicious!! It had sautéed onions and ginger in the soup. The broth sure tasted like home made chicken broth, whether it is 100% home-made or not. The soup was flavorful and aromatic! I savoured every spoonful of this light and tummy-warming soup! It was great on a rainy day like today. I only tried those two dishes on this visit and enjoyed it. The one thing about the wonderful Wonton soup was that it didn't come with noodles. Maybe you can have it with noodles and I didn't know to ask or whatnot. Either way, the 6 Wontons in a delicious broth with Chinese cabbage (I think that's the vegetable) and sautéed onions and ginger were tasty. The restaurant looked clean. The washroom looked clean (which isn't always the case in Asian restaurants with good authentic food). It's my first time at this Vietnamese restaurant. I would come again based on this first-time experience.

Stir fried shrimp vermicelli, spring rolls and rare beef pho. Delish!
Alice W.

Place is very clean and spaceous. The menu had lots to choose from. Some different than what we normally see on Pho menus... which is nice. Staff here is friendly. The portions were good. Soup was delish!!! Very important for a good bowl of Pho! My sautéed shrimps were done great! Wish they served fried onions and crushed peanuts with their Vermicelli dishes... but I still left happy. The "eggrolls" were 1 of the best! A gem in Kitchener... wish more knew about this place. Our local Pho place in Brampton is always packed. This place looks like it is doing ok... but should have more business... for the great portions and quality of food... at least from what we ordered.

2017-09-04. Pho Bistro. Kitchemer, ON. Storefront. Plenty of free parking just outside its doors in the plaza.

2017-09-04. Pho Bistro is an example of the expanding culture in Southern Ontario. As more and more people moved away from Toronto, the Tri-cities were the lucky recipients of a good portion of them, and were able to enjoy the spoils migration brought with it. One such spoil was the cultural diversification, and with that, the expansion in the different types of cuisines offered. Pho Bistro is located in a strip mall with plenty of free parking just outside it's doors. The place is relatively large for a Pho Shop and can accommodate over 100 guest at full capacity. Booths line the walls and windows and tables and chairs fill the gaps in between. The decor is nice and the tables are spaced out enough to provide a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is your standard extensive selections of Noodles, Rice, Appetizers, Family-style specialties, and Drinks. Most Pho shops in Toronto have over 200 items on their menu, Pho Bistro is a little more conservative (probably due to lack of demand), and have refined their menu selections to about 150. With all new places, we went with some staples to see how they compared with established Toronto giants of the industry. My impression was that they would fare pretty well considering almost all these new places are opened by those whom have migrated from the City. Tonight, the bill of fare consisted of Special Pho Bistro, Grilled Chicken & Pork Com, Egg Rolls, a Jackfruit shake, and a Sour Sop shake. #301 Special Pho Bistro (Pho Bistro Dac Biet). This is typically your kitchen sink Pho. Rice noodles in Pho broth with an assortment of beef, pork, and seafood (shrimp and squid). What anchors this dish is the broth. Do this well, and it will tow the line for the rest of the ingredients; do this poorly, and the ship will sink. The broth had very strong pho flavours (pho cube and star anise), which is the opposite of most places, and in this instance I think it was a tad overboard. I will note; however, that the dish had a good ratio of meat/seafood to noodle to soup. 3,5 stars. #405. Grilled pork chop and chicken with egg on rice (Com Ga, Suon Nuong, trung op la). A simple dish really, marinated thin filet of chicken and pork, grilled on an open flame and topped with green onion in oil served with of bed of steamed rice topped with a over easy fried egg. From a flavour perspective, the meat marinade was a little on the sweet side; there was also a strong garlic flavour and subtle lemongrass. The cook of it was a little overdone as the meats were slightly on the dry side. The green onion and oil was a little sparse, more of a decoration to provide sheen and a pop of colour, when it really should be applied to complement the flavours of the dish. 2,5 stars. #101. Egg rolls (Cha Gio). Nice to see that they used the proper wrap here. The cook was fried to a nice golden yellow. The filling makes up this dish, and depending on where in Vietnam you are, the ingredients will differ slightly. Without going into all the different variations based on local ingredients, the filling here was decent. The dish came with fish sauce, shredded lettuce, pickled carrots, and pickled radish. They were missing leaf lettuce, which kind of puzzled me, because a common way of eating this dish is to wrap the cha gio with the pickled veggies in the lettuce and then dip it in the fish sauce. I can only assume that out here in the Tri-cities, most consume it like an appetizer and leave the garnishes on the plate; the restaurant, not providing the leaf lettuce as a cost savings. 3,5 stars less 0,5 star for no leaf lettuce, 3 stars overall. Fish Sauce. Served with the Egg Rolls and Grilled Pork & Chicken Rice. This was quite good IMO. It had a nice balance of fish and sweetness. 4 stars. Both shakes are sub-par in my opinion. 2 stars each. * out of space, see pics for comments * Overall, Pho Bistro is a solid 3,5 star place. They're a little pricey, but they can be. They're in a more remote location where ingredients may not be readily available so transportation costs are higher; but at the same time, cheaper rents should offset this. Then there's the dynamic of the consumer base and competition, of which both work in their favour. The lack of competition in the area leaves those that are familiar with Pho are at the mercy of any price if they crave it badly enough. Those that are new to it and have never been exposed to the competitive prices are ignorant to marginal profits. And with most dishes coming in at $, it falls into the affordable category. Do I think they could use some minor tweaks, sure, but I'm pretty certain that my preferences do not match those of the locals that keep the place in business. And I don't blame them one bit to keep things the way they are, if it's not broke, don't fix it... would I be back, probably, they're one of a handful in the Tri-cities, and they're decent. If you would like to experience more, come dine-with-me.yelp.com I'd love to have your company... Bon Appétit!

Look at that sad piece of chicken.

This Pho restaurant in terms of space is big and spacious and is clean compared to other Pho restaurants. As for the food, the portions were incredibly small!!! Their large bowl of Pho is a typical small at other Pho restaurants. I'm curious to see how small a small is. Price is comparable to other Pho restaurants, but smaller portions. I normally feel that most broths at Pho restaurants are too salty and here is was flavorless and just bland. More flavoring is needed. As for the rice with grilled chicken and pork, the plate came out looking empty. The size of the meat portions were tiny. Look at the photo attached to see how sad this plate and size of the meats were. I was shocked when the waiter served the plate. Went with a group of 11 adults and we all felt the same about this place. Don't think we would ever return. The food is not bad, just nothing special. Mediocre and pricey for the portion you receive.

Soi Thaifoon - Pad Thai

Soi Thaifoon

recently tried Soi Thaifoon, and while it's not the most authentic Thai food (which I'm more used…read moreto), I still enjoyed parts of the meal. We started with the satay chicken and dumplings, and both were really good--flavorful and well-prepared. One thing to note: when they say spicy, they really mean it! I have a pretty high spice tolerance, and even at the third level of heat it was very spicy--but also really tasty. I had a chili chicken dish that wasn't the most authentic, but I still enjoyed the flavors. My husband ordered the chicken Pad Thai, and he wasn't the biggest fan of it. Overall, while it may not be the most traditional Thai spot, it's a decent place if you're looking for bold flavors and a bit of spice. P.s. it's all halal

It was also decorated nicely with lanterns on the ceiling. You order at the counter and either takeout or dine in. The food was fresh and comforting. I tried the red curry with chicken. It came with rice and I also got spring rolls on the side. The curry was lacking a bit of flavour in my opinion and the rice was a little dry but overall it was still tasty. The spring rolls were good too. Some of the portions were a little small given the price however. The service was great and the cooks came and checked in with us to make sure everything was good which was nice as this wasn't a restaurant with servers.

10/10 would recommend…read more I've been getting delivery from here for a while now, so I knew the food was good, but this was my first time actually going to the restaurant and eating in! The place is so cute, fun atmosphere and easy ordering. They have daily specials and a 10% student discount which make the already affordable dishes even more value. There are games on the table to play while you're waiting for food, and service is great. Definitely going to be coming in to eat more often! I got the Thai spicy noodle soup, and it wasn't really that spicy which I really appreciated (but if you're craving spicy food maybe get the curry or add chilli oil). My other favourites include the pad Thai, the green curry, and the Tom yum soup.

You must order from the counter and then they'll bring the food to you. WiFi available. Daily specials available as well. They have a self serve water pitcher if you'd like to drink water and not order anything else. Ordered: Red curry with chicken Came with a large portion of rice. Curry was spicy with a little sweet after taste. Coconut milk, large chicken pieces, veg, bamboo shoots... this was delicious! Green curry with chicken Tastes a little creamier than the red. Ingredients are about the same. Very good. Slight Spiciness. Panang curry with beef Lots of veg. Very mild curry flavour. Prob my fave curry dish so far. Tom kha soup? This is a coconut milk chicken broth soup with pieces of mushrooms and we added shrimp. This is a very mild soup. It's not bad. But not my fave. Thai iced tea is sweet. Very very yum. It's not on their menu but for sure something worth ordering! A hidden gem in Waterloo. Very good Thai food.
