She has an open door policy for students to speak with her whenever they want/need. They are very flexible on the clinical schedule which is good for those of us with kids or jobs that are not flexible. All of the instructors are very knowledgable and well respected in the fields they teach. One of our instructors is actually sought out by several schools. The time commitment is great. No Monday through Friday. Just one 8 hour day of class and 2-3 days of 12 hour clinicals/ SIM labs. There is no physical library at this time, but the school gives you E-books for each course, as well as access to saunders (both book and question bank), and ATI(physcal books, E-books, and question banks). They also are a lot more patient with semester payments than other schools. No one in my cohort failed the exit exam, so this program sets you up pretty well. Everytime we attend clinicals, we are told how greatful staff is to see Xavier students and that we are more competent by the time we graduate than students from other schools. We are allowed to start IV's, insert foleys, pass meds-of course under the nurse or our instructors supervision, but other programs don't allow student's to practice certain skills from what we've all heard. Over all, for the length of the program, the location, the price, and the training, I recommend this program to anybody who asks about nursing school. I would even come back to this school for my RN to BSN, but they are still in the process on working towards that accreditation and they said it will be a few years until that program can be up and running.

I ended up failing during my prerequisite courses, leaving me with a $1,500 debt that I had to repay before I could try again. When I decided to return to nursing school, I carefully researched my options and chose the Modesto campus. Although both campuses were about 40 miles from where I lived, the commute to Modesto felt more manageable. More importantly, the Modesto campus felt like home. The support I received from the instructors and administrators went far beyond academics. They not only taught me how to become a nurse, but how to become a good nurse. Those lessons will stay with me throughout my career and for the rest of my life. My biggest piece of advice to future students is simple: read the books. Do not rely solely on Quizlet or shortcuts. Read the chapters, take handwritten notes, and put in the work. I am not the smartest person in the room, but I worked hard and gave this program my full effort. I want to express my sincere appreciation to Tu, Mr. Bennie, Ms. Laura, Amber, both Stephanies, and Stephanie at the front desk, who always answered my questions and every phone call. I am especially grateful to Stephanie Kelly, my first clinical instructor, as well as Ms. Maria, MJ, Ms. Nisha, and Tina, the nurse at my clinical site. Ms. Dawn Hayek delivered outstanding OB lectures; her teaching style, expressions, and clinical insight made her lectures more valuable than textbooks. Ms. Laura impressed me with her energy and experience-based Pharmacology teaching. Ms. Charmaine brought strong expertise in PEDS and NICU, adding depth to her lectures. I was taught how to turn the steering wheel, use turn signals, using the brakes and accelerator, changing lanes, merging lanes, deal with traffic circles, speed limit, and so much more! I went from driving with no accelerator around my neighborhood to driving with the accelerator in the main roads! Great progress :) Second lesson was with Shelby, who was very good as well! She showed me DMV routes, taught me how to reverse in a straight line, lane changes when there was a bike lane present, and had me practicing what I needed to practice most. I am now very good at turning, performing the task of a U-Turn, changing lanes, and looking out for bikers in bike lanes. My last instructor was Christian, who was excellent! Very verbal in a very good way. He repeated things that were important so I could remember him saying those things. He taught me how to look ahead at all times, he taught me how to park in the mall parking lot, and he really worked on straight parking! Thanks to him, I can park at many places and I'm able to park along the curb without ever hitting it! Overall, every instructor I had were excellent! It is located at Filipino plaza, and it's close to many local businesses, such as banks, restaurants, cinema, police station, gray hound station, etc. The staffs at the clinical site, Whispering Hope Care Center, were all very kind and helpful. With in that 22 days of both theory and clinical, I have learned so much about the course and how to become an effective and reliable nursing assistant. Would I recommend this school? YES! In Spring 2022, we enrolled our children in ballet classes. After a year of learning, they have…read moreprogressed from knowing nothing to a level where they can represent the school in performances. Our initial intention was to teach our children perseverance and not easily giving up in the process of learning ballet. We wanted them to stand tall and not hunch when they're on their feet. Under the dedicated guidance of Mrs. Chris for over a year, their ballet skills have made significant improvements. They can confidently perform the learned dance steps in the recital which held every six months. As parents, this makes us incredibly proud.

We had held her back a grade and even began homeschooling in fear she was falling through the cracks and in 3rd grade didn't even have a firm grip on basic addition. We visited and interviewed a number of tutoring services and the others felt impersonal or like their purpose was to get the student as far beyond their grade level as possible. That wouldn't help my daughter, she was struggling with the fundamentals! Meeting with the director, Sachin, immediately put my mind at ease. He assured me of Sylvan's confidence in their program and that they were accustomed to dealing with children with focus and comprehension issues like my daughter. In addition, the facility looks more like a children's section in a library- colorful, comfortable and inviting- as opposed to the college classroom I had seen in other facilities, cold and bland with rows and rows of desks so they could fit as many kids in as possible. My daughter started out overwhelmed and fearful; she hates school because it was so confusing and overwhelming. Now she leaps out of the car and confidently walks in, as do nearly all of the other students. She really enjoys her primary instructor, Ava, and most of the staff know each of the students names and greet them when they enter. They break off into groups of no more than 3 students per instructor and work on their own, personalized, lesson plan- NOT a one-size fits all. Sylvan is incredibly flexible and understands that we have jobs, lives and additional children to navigate and Miriam ensures all scheduling, billing, meetings (and so much more I'm sure) are current and up to date. She is an excellent communicator. My daughter went from absolutely hating math to randomly sharing math facts with her little sister, which absolutely warms my heart. During the year my daughter has learned about different types of writing genre. She produced a number of writing pieces and towards the end of the year the kids were encouraged to publish their creative art. Thank goodness this program exists. I definitely recommend it to every kid out there that is passionate about writing.
