Deeply Disappointing Experience with Admissions A Program That Talks About Values It Doesn't…read morePractice I applied to the University of the Pacific's MSW program and was struck by the profound disconnect between the values the program claims to uphold and the way it actually treats applicants. Despite having strong recommendations, relevant experience, and a clear academic record, I encountered a process defined by bureaucratic opacity and inconsistent communication. When I attempted to clarify basic questions about my file including documentation that staff indicated would be placed in my record I was met with defensiveness, stonewalling, and vague assertions that my inquiries themselves were inappropriate. Escalating to leadership did not improve transparency. In fact, the further up the hierarchy I went, the more I encountered condescension masked as professionalism. The admissions process felt less like a fair evaluation and more like a gatekeeping exercise to test whether I would simply defer to inconsistent procedures without question. Ironically, this was exactly the sort of inequitable system the field of social work teaches practitioners to challenge. In the end, I was not offered admission. If you value clear communication, mutual respect, and a student-centered process, I encourage you to look elsewhere. There are many CSWE-accredited programs that take their stated mission seriously and treat prospective students with basic dignity.

San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) really is a hidden gem for Career Technical Education (CTE),…read moreespecially when it comes to hands-on media training. The "state-of-the-art technology" mentioned is a huge part of why their program stands out. By mirroring industry standards--from modern audio/video capture to professional non-linear editing software--the program cuts straight to building immediate, marketable skills. Faculty like Professor Adriana Brogger have done an incredible job driving that forward-focused energy, ensuring students are ready for the workforce whether they choose to transfer later or jump right into production, content creation, or digital media entrepreneurship. Splitting the difference by getting robust, practical certificates and degrees at a community college before--or instead of--dropping tens of thousands at a university is a smart move. It focuses on portfolio building and actual execution, which is exactly what the industry looks for.

My experience with the professors has been generally good but that is where the positive ends…read moresadly. On the one hand its clear they have a need for more funding but on the other hand they also deserve a MASSIVE funding cut. The administration of Delta college is a bloated bureaucratic nightmare where the left hand has no clue what the right hand is doing. The admissions/ records office and especially the FA office is filled with rude, lazy staff that resort to their NPC response of "Oh we don't do that here". This is my first semester and already I've faced the potential of having to drop out do to zero support from the financial aid department. I've done everything required of me but getting them to lift a finger to take care of stuff on their end is like pulling teeth. I wondered if it was just me experiencing these issues but seeing their Yelp page confirms that its a systemic problem. Very disheartening. I write this review knowing nobody at the school in a position to make changes will read it so instead I write this as a warning to current and potential students. My best advice to potential students is document every correspondence with school employees, CC the director of the respective department you are contacting and follow up every few days.

Carrie has deliberately chose to ignore my attempts to reach her and to discuss the matter over the phone. Her email was a in passing, and pathetic excuse for someone at her level. Per usual.. another non-profit that claims they hold space to the community, but don't in reality. Tread lightly at this school. In response to the "review" from Jackie P. of Lodi…read more Its amazing how so many people "complain" about UEI and how UEI does not "find them a job". No school, including UEI promises to secure you employment! No, what we do promise is do do OUR part to give you (the student), the education (if YOU work at it), the tools (if you are PRESENT) and the resources (if you put in the TIME and WORK) to find sustainable employment in your field. I'm flabergasted at the reviews ans some of these students A.) didnt attend daily or B.) mosey'd into class when and where they saw fit or C.) didnt stay in compliance with policies including uniforms....or even a mixture of all. This is COLLEGE and you enroll as an ADULT yet a lot of students dont act like it, then in turn leave reviews like the one left by Jackie P. It doesnt matter what college the administration came from....the administration was not the cause of institutions like "Heald and Marinello Beauty Schools" (as she mentioned) closed down. I was a Heald student as well and was directly affected. Its way bigger than UEI's staff being the so called cause of their closure. UEI is NOTunprofessional, its actually one of the more professional establishments I have come into contact with. Federal money (funding) is obtained from the Dept of Education to ASSIST students in coming to school. It is not obtained fraudulently, it is approved by the federal govt and we are a fully accredited institution. You should research before commenting. Interesting how this comment comes directly after a HUGE graduation ceremony celebrating the many students who worked their way through their programs. Im wondering if you are just mad because you were not part of that? Or why even? UEI is not perfect, and we serve a population that normally gets tossed by the way side. Im very proud of the work UEI does, proud of the campus as a whole and the diversity in that campus. Im extremely proud of the strides UEI has come since opening the Stockton campus in 2011, because the UEI schools have actually been in business since 1982. Dont let a disgruntled student's review hinder your success. Come see UEI for yourself!!!! Textbook not included (I have a physical MA Textbook available for sale for this class, if anyone wants to buy it off of me lmao! Not kidding either!) Navy Blue scrubs only is the uniform color you'll need for the class. My instructor was Ms Nina, although we were able to meet and be taught by the then, CalRegional Manager but now Instructor again, Melony for our class for a few days. Melony is a great instructor for the few days we had her. She taught us a lot. She is also very approachable and it was easy to get ahold of her. She was always responsive when I needed to get in contact with her towards the end of my class when she was placing me for my Externship. I was actually very lucky to be apart of the last of her students she placed for Externship before she stepped down as manager and became an Instructor again. Now Kathi is the current CalRegional manager. Let's get back to my class, as I said my Instructor was Ms Nina and I can't say enough good about her. She is the best! She's honest and open, her teaching methods are very hands on. She's funny as hell and super relatable too! She gave us a lot of insight on what to expect in the real world and couldn't stress safety enough! Our class was small, but made the learning experience all the more better. She taught us all so well and really made the time to help each one of us to be successful and absorb and understand what she was teaching us. Healthcare and the world in general need more people like Ms Nina! Thanks to her, I scored so well on my AMCA Exam and feel more confident than ever in my ability to be an amazing CMA. Note for future students: get all your prerequisites in by the first week! (Except for the drug test obviously, but at least pay for it and upload your receipt) Don't wait until midterm. Get it done by the first or second week. That way when it comes time for Kathi to place you at your externship, you can get placed sooner rather than later. I did all my pre reqs by the first week and got my externship start date for 3 days after my last day of class. If you wait til last minute to upload all your pre reqs and you'll end up being placed at externship later, because CalRegional technically has up to 60 days to place you. Also, pay your tuition in full so that way once you finish your externship and email your booklet to CalRegional you can immediately get your Certificate! If not, you don't receive it until you're paid in full.

My admissions' coordinator was rude, demeaning, catty. I understand she's trying to get her commission but she could have acted like she cared that I was trying to make a life's decision. I felt rushed. They were not organized. I was told to call different people, and when I did I had to repeat myself so many times with the same information. (Aren't these people in the same freakin' office?) My financial aid adviser wasn't as bad but she did forget my appointment time twice & forgot to take certain forms from me with crucial information. I was talked to like I was an idiot by my admissions' adviser many times. She asked me questions that I shouldn't have to disclose. Frankly, her job was to help me with my application process, to make me feel comfortable with my decision, to let me know that the school was right for me. Instead, I felt belittled, rushed, & unwelcome. I am turning in my Notice of Cancellation this afternoon, and attending a school with a nursing program that has actually been accredited for years... unlike Kaplan.
