Deeply Disappointing Experience with Admissions A Program That Talks About Values It Doesn't…read morePractice I applied to the University of the Pacific's MSW program and was struck by the profound disconnect between the values the program claims to uphold and the way it actually treats applicants. Despite having strong recommendations, relevant experience, and a clear academic record, I encountered a process defined by bureaucratic opacity and inconsistent communication. When I attempted to clarify basic questions about my file including documentation that staff indicated would be placed in my record I was met with defensiveness, stonewalling, and vague assertions that my inquiries themselves were inappropriate. Escalating to leadership did not improve transparency. In fact, the further up the hierarchy I went, the more I encountered condescension masked as professionalism. The admissions process felt less like a fair evaluation and more like a gatekeeping exercise to test whether I would simply defer to inconsistent procedures without question. Ironically, this was exactly the sort of inequitable system the field of social work teaches practitioners to challenge. In the end, I was not offered admission. If you value clear communication, mutual respect, and a student-centered process, I encourage you to look elsewhere. There are many CSWE-accredited programs that take their stated mission seriously and treat prospective students with basic dignity.

Xavier College is a small school, which means you don't have a hard time gettinig a hold of staff,…read moreincluding the dean of the school if needed. She has an open door policy for students to speak with her whenever they want/need. They are very flexible on the clinical schedule which is good for those of us with kids or jobs that are not flexible. All of the instructors are very knowledgable and well respected in the fields they teach. One of our instructors is actually sought out by several schools. The time commitment is great. No Monday through Friday. Just one 8 hour day of class and 2-3 days of 12 hour clinicals/ SIM labs. There is no physical library at this time, but the school gives you E-books for each course, as well as access to saunders (both book and question bank), and ATI(physcal books, E-books, and question banks). They also are a lot more patient with semester payments than other schools. No one in my cohort failed the exit exam, so this program sets you up pretty well. Everytime we attend clinicals, we are told how greatful staff is to see Xavier students and that we are more competent by the time we graduate than students from other schools. We are allowed to start IV's, insert foleys, pass meds-of course under the nurse or our instructors supervision, but other programs don't allow student's to practice certain skills from what we've all heard. Over all, for the length of the program, the location, the price, and the training, I recommend this program to anybody who asks about nursing school. I would even come back to this school for my RN to BSN, but they are still in the process on working towards that accreditation and they said it will be a few years until that program can be up and running.

Although you'll be able to get into Nursing school right away in this competitive environment,…read morethink to yourself first if you really want to go here? I was not expecting how unorganized and one sided the school is. Semester 2, there was alot of changes to the syllabus and scheduling and they say one thing over the other.

San Joaquin Delta College (SJDC) really is a hidden gem for Career Technical Education (CTE),…read moreespecially when it comes to hands-on media training. The "state-of-the-art technology" mentioned is a huge part of why their program stands out. By mirroring industry standards--from modern audio/video capture to professional non-linear editing software--the program cuts straight to building immediate, marketable skills. Faculty like Professor Adriana Brogger have done an incredible job driving that forward-focused energy, ensuring students are ready for the workforce whether they choose to transfer later or jump right into production, content creation, or digital media entrepreneurship. Splitting the difference by getting robust, practical certificates and degrees at a community college before--or instead of--dropping tens of thousands at a university is a smart move. It focuses on portfolio building and actual execution, which is exactly what the industry looks for.

My experience with the professors has been generally good but that is where the positive ends…read moresadly. On the one hand its clear they have a need for more funding but on the other hand they also deserve a MASSIVE funding cut. The administration of Delta college is a bloated bureaucratic nightmare where the left hand has no clue what the right hand is doing. The admissions/ records office and especially the FA office is filled with rude, lazy staff that resort to their NPC response of "Oh we don't do that here". This is my first semester and already I've faced the potential of having to drop out do to zero support from the financial aid department. I've done everything required of me but getting them to lift a finger to take care of stuff on their end is like pulling teeth. I wondered if it was just me experiencing these issues but seeing their Yelp page confirms that its a systemic problem. Very disheartening. I write this review knowing nobody at the school in a position to make changes will read it so instead I write this as a warning to current and potential students. My best advice to potential students is document every correspondence with school employees, CC the director of the respective department you are contacting and follow up every few days.

Worst service. Ever…read more I applied for the vocational nursing program. I took the tests, got high scores & was ready for the rest of the application process. My admissions' coordinator was rude, demeaning, catty. I understand she's trying to get her commission but she could have acted like she cared that I was trying to make a life's decision. I felt rushed. They were not organized. I was told to call different people, and when I did I had to repeat myself so many times with the same information. (Aren't these people in the same freakin' office?) My financial aid adviser wasn't as bad but she did forget my appointment time twice & forgot to take certain forms from me with crucial information. I was talked to like I was an idiot by my admissions' adviser many times. She asked me questions that I shouldn't have to disclose. Frankly, her job was to help me with my application process, to make me feel comfortable with my decision, to let me know that the school was right for me. Instead, I felt belittled, rushed, & unwelcome. I am turning in my Notice of Cancellation this afternoon, and attending a school with a nursing program that has actually been accredited for years... unlike Kaplan.
