It might not have occurred to me to post a Yelp review, but I saw someone posted a one-star review…read moretalking about something that sounds substantially at variance with my ongoing experience with Kevin Cole and Empowerment Quest over the course of ten years. I've been through multiple trainings with Kevin Cole precisely because he is exceptional at application. He does things I have not seen any NLP Trainer do before - mostly because he's master practitioner who has an actual practice. I have recommended his program to many. He has also shown zero hesitation to give me a quick refresher on a technique when I'm about to use a tech with a client that I haven't used fir a while. I think it's been ten years we've had an ongoing professional relationship. I was and continue to be impressed. Were it not for the COVID-lockdowns, I was going to go through his entire training again to hone my skills, reinforce my knowledge on the techniques I rarely use, and, importantly, benefit from upgrades he's developed in at least a couple of the techniques he teaches. I'm Scot Conway, Ph.D., J.D., the author of several books, and I have various other credentials. You can look me up to see my qualifications for evaluating Kevin Cole and Empowerment Quest. I work in the field and I know plenty of trainers. I go to Kevin both for training and for when I need a practitioner.

When I signed up he ensured me that I would get what I was looking for in his training. In particular I was interested in making sure I learned a sound process or methodology to work with clients. During the training, all we covered were different NLP Techniques with no practical guidelines as to implement the tools we were introduced to. When asked about this, Kevin did not answer but rather pointed the lack of understanding to being my fault. I found this to be unprofessional. On two of the 3 day training I was a little tardy to the class, about 15 minute or so. He said my failure to show up on time was the reason I wasn't getting the results the training was "guaranteed to offer". I hung in there for the last day hoping that he would explain more of the process and methods for working with clients and growing the business. Sadly, we never covered this material. And I think we all could of did without his whole evening spent on him sharing his "story" about himself and how NLP changed his life. When I asked for a partial refund based on his guarantee, he flatly denied and again deferred it being my fault. Absolutely unacceptable in my eyes. By the way, I own a business and I guarantee my work. If anyone is in the slightest bit unsatisfied I will happily will return their money. That is what a guarantee is! You never blame your clients of your inability to provide a product or service that does not meet their expectations. Especially when you say you can! Do not be fooled by Kevin. He is a master of influence with his own self interest in mind!

I had the opportunity to participate in Restaurant Hospitality Institute training at Foundation for…read moreRecovery, and I want to recognize Mark Steele for the excellent job he did as our educator and facilitator. Mark has a strong presence and keeps the room engaged, but what impressed me most was his attention to detail. He made an effort to know our names, noticed what was happening throughout the class, answered our questions, and made sure we were actually learning. I also appreciated that he did not simply give us the answers during testing. Some questions were meant to make us think, and he expected us to apply what we had learned. I think that kind of accountability is especially meaningful for people in recovery who are rebuilding their lives and preparing for employment. I volunteered to demonstrate a serving skill, including how to properly clear a table, and the RHI team supported me through the process. I have previous restaurant experience, including Hooters and Alexis Park, and the training reminded me how much I enjoyed hospitality and working with people. Although I am continuing toward a career in behavioral health and healthcare, I would absolutely recommend RHI to anyone in the recovery community who is interested in hospitality, employment, or a possible new career. It was also meaningful to hear Mark speak openly and proudly about recovery in his own family and about The Blooming Bistro. Recovery should not be treated as something shameful. People deserve education, opportunity, accountability, and the chance to succeed. Thank you, Mark and RHI, for seeing the potential in the people you teach and for expecting us to rise to the occasion. -- Josie Valencia

They made sure to meet and interact with all students, even if the students were in a course outside of their specific area. All the employees, all the way up to the owner Rick, were always accessible and available to answer any questions any student might have. * Bar Management Specifically o I took the course because my wife and I are opening a bar. Over my 12-week course Darryl and I were afforded many opportunities to discuss ideas for our specific business model as well as the Las Vegas & national bar industry in general. It has proved to be priceless for me as some of the things that came out of those conversations will be used in some fashion in our operation - whether it be in the planning and development phase, the actual operating phase or in the setting of longer-term goals and expectations for our business's future, including growth and expansion. o Darryl is incredibly knowledgeable and has an amazing ability to teach people of a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, experience levels, knowledge bases and learning styles. The added information he injects from his own personal experience adds an even deeper level of understanding to the many topics covered throughout the Bar courses. o Darryl sets a realistic atmosphere, keeping the training as close to real life as possible (i.e. from the lighting & décor, to training in an actual bar setting; containing all of the equipment an operating bar would have, to playing music, to teaching the bartending lessons at the bar to create a realistic buzz in the room for those practicing drink making at the same time). o Darryl is a straight shooter. He keeps it real, so when you have completed either of the Bar courses offered there will be no doubt about what a graduate should expect when moving forward into the industry's workforce. o Darryl creates and maintains a team-like atmosphere where students root each other on and celebrate each other's progress and successes. I can't thank Darryl and the amazing Bar students enough for making an impact on me and teaching me some amazing lessons in one way or another. I would strongly recommend either Bar course to anyone wanting to get into the bar industry in any capacity. I will be visiting again on my own time to hone my skills and absorb even more knowledge in the coming months. In this industry the learning never ends, and this school has proven to me that they are in it for the long haul and will be there to support the current students as well as the graduates long into the future. The bottom line - If you put in the time and practice you will succeed - it's that simple. Cheers! -Shawn S.
