I swear by Phil's Appliances. Super nice folks and they've repaired my old addled washer machines and bailed me out on many occasions, for extremely reasonable prices. They charge $30 to even show up but I don't mind paying it because I know they will give it time nme straight and let me know whether it's worth fixing or not. Added plus, if your washer or dryer has bit the dust, you can buy a new (cheap) used one from them which will be delivered to your home and which they will service going forward. I'm really sorry that I have the need to do this after a long extensive history going back to the early 80's with Phils Appliance. Let's just say so far back that Andy one of their works was in my wedding in 82 that if they treat customers such as us this way. How would they treat a customer they don't know. We have been purchasing products from Phils for such a long time, whenever we were in a bind. We gave always been happy with their merchandise.Lets just say I have a refrigerator that we bought years ago from them and still use it till this day. Recently we bought a used washer from them because we was in a predicament in need of one right then and now. They brought one over right away. Well that night I went to use the washer and noticed that when I went to change the load the fabric softener was still in the agitator and the close wS sopping wet. I had to set it on the second rinse in order for it to drain out. The next morning I called them up ( Saturday morning)and they told me someone would be over after doing a run. Nobody showed up. I let it alone since it was later and the store closed but Monday morning I called again when I got to work. I called again and again promised to send someone upon which I told them I had a family member waiting for them.They showed up and my family member told me that the person was quite agitated that they had to be there. They removed the agitator and put one in that did not have the fabric softener dispenser and called it a day. Now coming home I went to do a load, but when it was done it still was not spinning out the clothes as it should be. Leaving them sopping wet. This time I had my husband call and he has been calling a few times a week since then and here we are a month later with no results. We were left trying to use a washer going the extra mile I'm ringing out clothes. Now it's week 4 and the washer is completely broke and not working. My husband called them again irate telling them as always either bring me another washer now or fix it!!! Of course nobody showed up again leaving us no option but to go to Home Depot and buy a brand new one at 6:00am in the morning in the height of the Coronavirus situation. If they do this to long standing customers like us! How do they treat new customers? Treating people like idiots! Thanks guys for all your help! read more

These guys are great for the price - I've used them in a few occasions. They show up, drop a dryer off & take the old one. Just a advertised. I you want hi-end, then this probably isnt your best bet, but a cheap solution is what they specialize in. read more

I have to admit that I was a little leary to call this place because of the previous reviews, but I had a broken dryer and I wanted it fixed fast and Phil's was the only place that would come out same day. The woman who answered the phone was very friendly and courteous. She heard my initial questions and answered them well, took my number, and told me the tech would call me back at the end of his current call. The tech called me back almost immediately, within five minutes, and told me he could be at my place in 30, completely outdoing the other shops I called which said next day was my only option. Now, there is a $30 appointment fee. I don't look at this as unusual. Have you ever had comcast, PECO, or a plumber come to your house for a free service call? Why would you expect it from another professional? Long story short, I didn't mind it. Also, same day appointments may not be the norm but it exceeded my expectations so I'll rate it highly. The tech showed up as promised and went right to work checking out my dryer. After about 20 minutes he gave me a run down of the problem and recommended repair options and quoted a cost, which the $30 fee partly took care of. 20 minutes after that the dryer was fixed and I paid a reasonable price for a little over an hour from the call to the final fix. They even guaranteed the repair for 30 days! I'm giving them 5 stars for their quick arrival, professional service, and reasonable price. One of our tenants had a leaking washing machine that was running water onto the unit below it. Called these guys since they were closest to the area and fast with appointments. They charged $30 non refundable fee for coming out, and if we did work, the $30 would be deducted off of the bill. Jim came around and said the hose was clogged and the transmission was broken. He wouldn't touch the transmission because he said he thought it was under warranty with Sears for 5 years. I asked if he could just drain the hose and unclog it right then, but he was unwilling to since he didn't have the proper tools (a hose clamp) and it seemed like he really did not want to get wet. I told him since the hose was an issue, why not just do it now so I don't have to call back. Jim replied with there was a chance that the trans would be too expensive that I may just want to replace the whole washing machine and if he came around later, the price would reflect the $30 I already paid. He also mentioned that I could tip the Sears person $20 bucks and maybe they'll drain the hose for us. Basically, he was being lazy. I had Sears come by and they said the hose was clogged, had nothing to do with the transmission. Got it fixed at a premium price, but the issue was resolved. He clamped the hose and it was fixed within 20 minutes, plus he didn't get wet. I called back Phil's Appliances to see what recourse I had to getting back the non refundable fee since I was given a bad diagnostics. If Jim just cleared the hose, I wouldn't have to call another repairman. The secretary was super sweet, but then she transferred the phone to another repairman. He wasn't the one who came around so I retold the story. He kept implying that the transmission could still go out in the next couple of weeks, but he was just trying to cover his co-workers incompetence. I asked what I should do, if I would be forced to write a bad review and then that's when the cursing flew in. He swore and swore and then hung up the phone. Unreal. I caught my emotions together and called back and found out that the person I spoke with wasn't even part owner of the business. The secretary then forwarded my number to the actual technician and got a call later from the person who serviced me. He kept asking why I didn't call him instead of the office. He also kept telling me that the transmission going bad was his best opinion. When I asked about why he didn't just use a clamp to cover the hose, he got hissy and kept telling me that was his best opinion to not to touch anything until I got the transmission fixed. Save your time and do not go with these guys for appliance repairs. His best opinion wasn't the correct opinion. If he wasn't lazy and just took care of the hose when he was there, I wouldn't be writing this review. Save your $30 and give it to your 4 year old nephew and ask for his best opinion. At least your nephew will try to fix the washing machine. read more

My grandmom, my aunts, my mom and myself have been using Phil's appliances for years...I don't understand the neg comments on here. If you need a RELIABLE washer, dryer or fridge at a decent price, go to Phil's! We no longer live in the neighborhood, but always come back to this place. read more
