I have reported him numerous times to his supervisor. He retaliates with he receives negative feedback. For example, I broke my leg and receive numerous packages. He purposely put my packages in the bottom locker when other lockers higher were available. He knew there was no way I could bend over to get them. I have had a PO box for years and if a package comes with my street address he sends it back and I only find out when the vendor sends me a receipt and credits my payment method. It's not like we live in a metropolis. He could easily accept the package for me. I find this behavior inexcusable. Our taxes are paying his salary! If you need other examples of his inept management of the Hamilton post office, I will be more than happy to comply. His predecessor, Debbie, was absolutely WONDERFUL and I miss her helpful demeanor and kindness to provide over-the-top service.

I think this is the best Post Office in the world and think everyone that has worked there has given great service! We are lucky to have a Post Office like this in Hamilton and I am grateful. I have lived in Purcellville for 6 years. In that time I have held my mail about 30 times. It has…read moreonly been done properly twice. I cannot get the mail held. Mail is left in my mail box many times with the door open only to be ruined by rain when I return. I also cannot get it restarted even after going in person and tell them to do so verbally. There is no one to answer the local phone number even though it is supposed to be manned from 8:30-5. There is no voice mail so it requires multiple in person visits to get things back on track. Many times I am told I simply have no mail but after going in three days in a row to recheck, a manager will come out with a whole box of mail and claim they don't know where it came from. They keep blaming temporary workers but even the workers that have been there for 6 years don't seem to care or know what they are doing. My last post office was nothing like this.

The Purceville library looks like a house from a fairytale story, it's a beautiful looking library…read more It is fully made of cobblestone. It caught my attention the last time I was visiting Purceville. We stopped by to return some materials and for a quick study session. It is quiet and spacious inside. There are of course plenty of books, DVDs and Audio books, there was a table of western movies and books, maybe Yellowstone has something to do with it. There was a specious room for reading, studying or computer work. I love their puzzle table. They have a puzzle started for anyone who wants to work on it. This library has large windows to allow plenty of sunlight to come through. The children's area has some large legos to play with, it has an adorable Pete The Cat rug in it, and of course excellent books for kids of all ages and interests. Their staff is pleasant and welcoming. This is a beautiful library in a beautiful town, Purceville VA.

They do have a gift shop of sorts, but they do not sell water--just an fyi. They give a guided tour and it was so very neat! They tell you all about the money printing process from start to finish, how to tell the difference between real vs counterfeit. They discuss the reasons that bills change every few years. You get to see them actually working the ginormous printing machines. I highly recommend visiting on your next DC trip!

It reads: On this site, Isaac Charles and Nathan Walker erected a large white oak log house named for their ancestral stronghold in Scotland which the three brothers had fled after the failure of attempts to unseat George I, King of England, as ruler of Scotland. Isaac permanently settled here and obtained land grants for 188 acres. He and his three sons served in the Revolutionary War. The graves of Isaac and his son Nathan are north of here. Taoping Castle was the birthplace of Samuel Hamilton Walker (February 24, 1817 - October 9, 1847). Lt. Colonel of the Texas Rangers and Captain of the US Cavalry, he left home at age 19 to fight Indians and later became a leader and hero of the Rangers. His suggested changes to Samuel Colt's revolver resulted in Colt's success as an arms manufacturer. 1000 Colt-Walker pistols - the first, heaviest and longest revolvers ever issued to American forces - were purchased for the Texas Rangers during the Mexican war. Walker was killed in that war at the Battle of Hua Mantla, Mexico. The family cemetery is all that remains of the Taoping Castle estate.

Washington, DC has great suburbs and Bethesda is great.

We used Avalon Construction (Hamilton, Va) to build our gazebo and deck. After 2 years, we noticed…read morethe wood rotting and mold growing. We contacted them with our issues and photos. We received one email back saying they would come by and take a look. This never happened. We are 4-5 years out on this being built and the gazebo has deteriorated even more, becoming an eyesore and dangerous. There is mold growing in areas as well. We just recently contacted them again as it must be taken down and rebuilt. They will take no responsibility for what they have built. They did not use the proper materials when building as it is quite evident it was not pressure treated wood. They are not an honorable construction company.
