Some of the deterioration of the crown moulding on the outside of the structure had to be specially crafted to match the rest of the authentic moulding. Inside there are many original brass fixtures and mail slots, post boxes, wooden doors, desks and podiums. One unique feature of this post office is the huge mural of Clifton farm painted by a local artist of that period, E.S. Lewis. Dubbed "New Deal Art" from1939, as Franklin Roosevelt's effort to end the Great Depression, it's one of only 2 murals of its kind in the area. A plaque dedicating the building is displayed next to the post office counter. A knowledgeable and friendly postal worker informed me of the historic value of this post office! This job is literally hell on earth from day one. The management is by far the worst people in the world. The other carrier are the only decent people but everyone would gladly throw you under the bus to save there ass. The have very strict and unreasonable expectations that put you and others at risk. If you don't meet those unreasonable and impossible expectations you get threatened and abused repeatedly. They have a horrible turnover rate and lay people off without notice for absolutely nothing. I was laid off 5 days before my 90 day ended and was never given a reason why. My post master became hostile and my supervisor was horrible and two faced. The pay was a little better but not worth the nightmare that you put up with daily and the lack of job security. CCAs havs worked there for some years and never get hired on as regular and quit generally before it will ever happen. They preach about safety but the pack the most dangerous vehicles full of mountains of mail and parcels that logistically cannot fit in the LLV. If anyone reading this is considering this opportunity there is a reason they keep on hiring! They are desperate beyond belief and they let tons of people go. Don't let them pull the same crap as they did to me as they will do to you. Keep you sanity!

Recently I had 3 certified letters to mail which required return receipt. As I was filling out the first set of paperwork, the clerck behind the counter volunteered and then filled out the second set. If all postal workers had this dedication and customer oriented attitude, the postal service probably would be in better shape than it is.

Today it was a quick visit to send a registered letter, and cool that my tracking is now electric for when its delivered and signed for...yeah technology! Our clerk politely told her she was welcome to purchase and the customer got all huffy. The clerk unfortunately went on the defensive because I'm sure she is literally attacked about this topic repeatedly. Listen folks, these guys work continuously for all of us, they are mandated to sell not give away products that cost them to use without a return on investment. I personally hate the rising cost of everything, including postage. So, again, come prepared and if you aren't don't give the clerks grief because you have to shell out a few clams to do what you should have done ahead!! Its a perfect town because it has all the needs you need before a ride up the mountain. Gas stations. 711. Restaurants etc and its a beautiful town i must say. Its simple but everyone has always been friendly to me. I love stopping by when im driving. Perfect break before 64miles up a mountain lol
