While it's a bit nerve wracking walking into a studio for the first time, especially after not being in one for over a decade, the staff was so helpful and welcoming. The young woman at the front desk helped me check in and directed me to the studio. She gave me a heads up that another class was wrapping up and to hang out on the side and take a seat until my class started. Noelle's class was fantastic! She created such an inclusive and welcoming space. She encouraged making adjustments in the warmups and choreography to fit your abilities and comfort. The class started with stretches, then some across the floor warm ups, then learning the number and ended with an optional cool down. There was a nice mix of abilities throughout the class. The space is large and clean with room to leave your personal belongings in eyesight. Will definitely be doing this again soon!

For personal favorites, I love the hip-hop classes with Maya and Ricky. With both instructors, you'll learn to move your body in the way you didn't know you could. I'm a fan of hip-hop choreography and both of these fine instructors are great at creating fresh routines to match with the good beats. Aside from hip-hop, Zumba classes here are also great. The class is taught Zumba style (follow the leader) and you go through about 5-10 different recent, fun songs that you'll actually recognize so you can bust out the moves at da club. There is no official water break so you're just dancing the entire time. Half way through, we do an ab sequence and it is brutal to get through a plank after you've just danced your booty off for a half hour before. No technical experience needed, but I think you'll get a lot more out of the class if you can stay on beat & follow steps well. Some of the songs are more straight twerking, others are more technical hip hop. You can wear street clothes (kicks/sweats) or workout clothes, anything you can move in! The studio is a community studio, so don't expect anything fancy but its large!

There are no rental lockers available in the locker room in the basement, only on the 4th floor. So you have to walk up 4 flights of stairs to get your stuff, then down 5 to change, then up 3 to work out, then after you're done, down 3, up 5, and down 4 again. Which is fine, this is a gym, but just be aware there will he a lot of stair climbing. Also: hours are not as they are posted. If it says it closes at 8, it actually closes at 7:30 or maybe earlier.
