Shedding the pandemic pounds isn't easy, so I'm glad the instructors here do an amazing job at masking the calorie-burning exercises in the disguise of dance routines. For personal favorites, I love the hip-hop classes with Maya and Ricky. With both instructors, you'll learn to move your body in the way you didn't know you could. I'm a fan of hip-hop choreography and both of these fine instructors are great at creating fresh routines to match with the good beats. Aside from hip-hop, Zumba classes here are also great. Regardless of the class you choose, you'll be leaving the studio drenching in sweats.

My daughter bloomed with Ms. Beverly in way I couldn't have expected. She often struggles to focus, but she never took her eyes off Ms. Beverly and never felt as confident in anything as she did in dance. Ms. Beverly also gave me a lot of time and sound suggestions on next steps for my daughters dance as she gets older. My son had so much fun with Ms. Ava even though he started at 2.5, he felt like he got to be a big kid too and loved to show us his animal dances .The studio also is incredibly flexible-which is great for busy parents, and they definitely follow through on the fun part!

I was never a dancer as a child but always wanted to be. I've taken multiple classes here and have loved them all. The instructors are very kind and welcoming and the environment is very judgement free. Some of my favorite classes are Cardio Pop on Fridays @ 5:30 with Michelle, Jazz Tech on Tuesdays at 6pm with Beverly, Zumba on Thursdays with Mariana and Dance Party Boot Camp!

Went for Zumba with Jamie Wednesday, checked out their new studio, and had a great time! The studio is on the 2nd floor of nest (entrance on 13th street, not locust like the address says). Jamie was awesome and the class was a good workout, but 50 minutes felt so short! Also, the vibe of the class was a little womp womp, not as fun/exciting as other fitness classes I've been to, maybe because it's new and people are still getting to know each other. Hopefully that'll change. Also, right now it's carpeted and looks like a little kids play gym (which it is) but if there's interest, they'll put in hardwood floors and make it more legit. This is not a pretentious, super intense place. This class is definitely fine for people new to Zumba, but will still be a good workout for others. Having gone to Koresh a few days before, I will say that this place is more fitness than dance. The routines are simple, with more emphasis on workout than performance. As far as difficulty, I'd rank Jamie's class as slightly easier than the cardio classes I've taken at Thrive, but on par with Sweat (actually, Timaree teaches at Sweat and here and I love her!), the Sporting Club at the Bellevue, and 12th street gym (like I said, can't commit). $10 dropin is SUPER reasonable, and their class cards are only $40 for 5 and $70 for 10 and you can go to all their locations. Definitely great for people who like to mix it up! $5 off coupon if you sign up for their emails (so, $5 class!) Recommend checking them out! This location will only stay if there's interest.

I haven't been able to find a teacher like this either in New York or Boston where I spend my time now. Her classes are not about the 'workout' but rather connecting with yourself and perfecting your technique. I can't say enough wonderful things!

I've taken yoga classes here and they were great: they were very relaxing, I learned a lot, and my body felt a lot better after them. Classes are not overcrowded, which makes for more relaxing yoga sessions. However, a word of caution to those with cat allergies - they do have two cats that sometimes roam freely on the studio floor. While they are adorable, they sometimes show up unexpectedly next to you, and there are few things within a yoga studio that are more disruptive than being suddenly overcome with fear of breaking into an asthma attack or into hives. I had bought 10-class passes for myself and my husband before I knew there were cats on premises. We only found out about the cats several classes in, and tried to go anyway, informing the instructors about our allergies whenever we arrived. However, anyone who has cats knows that cats can climb over low barriers and although the instructors would put the cats away, they would still manage to find their way out to the studio floor. I also get nervous about accidentally picking up cat dander from doing yoga poses on the floor, since obviously it wouldn't be realistic for them to clean the floor and all equipment before every class. Since focusing on breathing is an important part of yoga practice, my fear of breathing in that space (fear that I might inhale cat dander and suffer severe allergy symptoms) really interfered with doing yoga. This has caused us to feel reluctant to come back, and now I believe our 10-class passes have expired, which means we've lost money on the unused classes (I believe I had a few remaining classes, while my husband had roughly half). Overall, this is a very good yoga studio (that also offers belly dance and some other classes), but it's definitely a stressful experience for people with allergies to cat dander.

Now I'm a total ballet addict, and it's all thanks to Beverly, the studio's owner and ballet teacher. Beverly does a wonderful job welcoming newcomers to the studio and making ballet accessible to those who haven't done it in years or have never tried it before. At the same time she manages to challenge her regulars. Classes are drop-in but she spends each month or two working on developing specific skills through drills and short choreography sequences. Every class is a little different. I constantly feel challenged, and I feel like my dancing is always improving. In addition to the regular ballet classes there is also BalletEXTREME, a high-intensity ballet fitness class, and small group pre-pointe lessons. Some women in the pointe class used to do pointe when they were younger and are returning to it years later. Many, like me, had never done it before (and probably thought they would never get the chance, like I did). If you ever wanted to try pointe I highly recommend these classes. Ballet isn't the only option at Major Moment. There are many great classes offered at the studio including Zumba, hip hop, and tap (all of which are offered through Philly Dance Fitness, reviewed separately). But ballet is my favorite!

I took a ballet class offered through PDF with Beverly (Beverly is the owner of Major Moment) this past Monday, and WOW! I had taken a few classes at Koresh to try to get myself back into the ballet game, but it was way too intense for me, a lowly "use to be a ballet dancer in high school". This class offered by Beverly was great - she went through the basics including the positions, tendus, degages, ronde de jambes, etc, with some barre work, then we moved to the center for the last half hour of class. I can't stress enough how amazing this class was - it seemed that most people around the room who were doing pretty well, and I know there were some beginners in the class. Beverly has a great personality, with absolutely no attitude - she is simply interested in furthering people's interest in dance while having fun! An added bonus - even though the class seemed slightly easy at the time, I woke up the next day feeling absolutely sore! It was an awesome feeling :) I can't wait to take another class with Beverly!
