Been wanting to check out these guys for awhile but could never catch their truck close to me…read more Today I hit it up on my lunch hour and after looking over the menu i went with the classic philly. I havent been to Philadelphia for awhile but this was definitely in the ball park of a legit Cheesesteak and one of the best ive had. Some purists might not say its authentic, but it had the right roll, wit wiz and it was delicious so that works for me. The "Philly" had plenty of meat and wasnt too greasy that would have made it fall apart. Kings is doing a great service to the community by making these available to the triangle so you need to go do your part and eat one right now.

Not my favorite cheese steak and certainly not freshly shaved ribeye, but a nice food truck. When…read morewe questioned the owners about their cheese steak they claimed to be all Philly and more but what we discovered was not all Philly. Sadly the bread of choice was not my favorite amoroso and the whiz was really runny. Now don't get me wrong the sub was still delicious but just not worthy to claim the title authentic. For me to be authentic one must have the right bread, the right thickness of cheese whiz, fresh cut vegetables and the freshly shaved rib eye beef. The problem was none of this was right. Their veggies were canned mushrooms cut peppers and onion. The meat was frozen probably Philly steak or steakums. Finally the sauce was just way off. One could possibly drink the fat off of their sub. Certainly not the best and would only try this again out of desperation.

Philly Steak & Subs falls squarely into the second category, and that's why it has become one of our regular lunch spots. We typically eat in for lunch but tonight ordered takeout, and our standing order is a full-size Philly cheesesteak (no tomato, lettuce, or mayo) with fries for $18.56 plus tip. We split it between the two of us, and it's always more than enough food. I happily finish the fries. The sandwich is generously sized and packed with plenty of well-seasoned beef. That's really what keeps us coming back, the flavor. The meat is cooked and seasoned just right, and the fries have a seasoning of their own that pairs nicely with the sandwich. Located in the shopping center at Atlantic Avenue and Millbrook Road, parking is plentiful, making it an easy stop for either dine-in or takeout. The dining room is spacious with plenty of seating, though tonight we took our food home. One thing that has always stood out is the staff. They're consistently warm, friendly, and welcoming. On my latest visit, they were enjoying a World Cup match, and we spent a few minutes chatting about the Argentina-Egypt game. It's a small interaction, but those moments are part of what makes this place feel comfortable and familiar. There are restaurants you visit once to try them, and there are restaurants that quietly become part of your routine. Philly Steak & Subs has become one of those places for us. Good food, generous portions, friendly people, and consistently enjoyable meals, that's a combination that keeps us coming back.

Easy ordering through the application that I was able to download quickly via the App Store. Ordered two Philly cheesesteaks and a turkey sub. All were good. Also had some fries which were crispy and tasty. Will definitely go back whenever I get the hankering for a tasty cheesesteak.

It is rare I do an updated review and go down on stars. However, this place gets the nod…read more My first visit was a little off, mainly because the guy at the register was a little confused but the food and presentation was just that good. Over the past 3 weeks, I've noticed a steady decline in service and food quality. Please note I've ordered from here 8-10 times in that span, with dining in 3 times and Door Dashing 5-7 times. I can go back to my receipts but I made this place my go-to. One of the days I walked in to order and the guy flatly told me all subs were toasted when I asked if I could get mine toasted. Seemed a little uncalled for with the tone. The last visit onsite, the presentation from my first time (sub is spread open when served) had gotten worse. The tomatoes were noticeably smaller. My last door dash order from yesterday, I had a blonde hair in my sub. I do not have hair and it wouldn't be blonde, if so. It was mixed in as well. I threw the rest of my sub away. This is actually the second business on this strip I've found hair in my food. I don't complain, I just don't eat there anymore. But the fact I can notice a difference in service and food quality within 3 weeks is INSANE. At this point, I do not recommend this place.

If you are a Vegetarian like me, this and the veggie sandwich seem to be the only choices. As tasty as it is, I will order it again. Also, the lemonade is pretty good. They have a wide variety of sandwiches (hogies, deli style, cheesesteaks, chicken cutlets), along with burger and salad options. We opted for a cheesesteak, deli sandwich, and small salad which was the perfect amount of food for two people. My only word of caution is that the Calabrian Ceasar dressing is quite spicy, so use with caution or pick another if you don't like spicy food. The bread, meat, and toppings were all fresh and brought unique flavors that worked very well together. There was a good amount of seating both inside and outside that was clean and well kept. Be sure to check out the daily drink specials too - when we went it was $2 Tecate cans. Will definitely be back!

My favorite sandwich is the dagwood with turkey. The cheesesteak was also pretty good. Unfortunately the dagwood recently stopped featuring avocado and now is replaced by pesto so I will be looking for a new favorite soon. The sandwiches are great, prices are fair, and food always comes out quick. Both inside and outside seating is always nice and clean and the servers are friendly. I wish their bread was softer sometimes but I love the options they have. There's definitely something for everybody!

A friend suggested that I try Cloos', and what great advice that turned out to be. Cloos' brings…read morethe feel of Northern short-order stands, grills, and diners to the NC State area. I had lunch there on Thursday--and liked it so much that I went back again on Friday. Two days in a row. One word of caution: this is a true short-order grill. Everything is freshly made to order, and they are often very busy. You will not get your food as quickly as you would at a fast-food place like McDonald's or Wendy's. If you are in a big hurry, head west on Western Boulevard to McDonald's, Bojangles, Wendy's, or Cook Out--all places I patronize--but they are not the same type of venue. Cloos' Coney Island is a hot dog and classic American comfort food restaurant that has been operating in Raleigh since 1988, with strong ties to the NC State student community and local residents. According to their own signage and social pages, they proudly market themselves as "An Original Detroit Hot Dog Stand, Est. 1988." The restaurant is decorated like a classic diner or luncheonette. White tile gives a clean, bright feel, paired with black checkerboard accents. The décor is reminiscent of original White Castle, White Diamond, and Waffle House locations. There's even a Sopranos-themed pinball machine. Seating includes a lunch counter with round revolving stools and 1950s-style dinette tables and chairs. On Thursday, I ordered a Coney Dog and French fries. With the exception of the Chicago Dog, their hot dogs are 90 percent beef, with the remainder pork products. The Coney Dog is their specialty, served on a steamed bun with chili, mustard, and onions--try it; you'll love it. The fries are excellent--thin, string-style fries like McDonald's used to make years ago. My friend had the Chicago Dog, a Vienna all-beef frank customized with Carolina flair, adding slaw atop their Coney Dog toppings. They have a soda fountain with Coke products, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and both sweet and unsweet tea. As a fun detail, there's a Coca-Cola CLASSIC sign near the fountain--perfectly fitting for a place established in the late '80s. Because they offer both tea and lemonade, they list Arnold Palmers (sweet or unsweet) on the menu. They also offer bottled water and a selection of domestic and premium bottled beers. On Friday, I went alone, sat at the counter, and ordered the Philly Cheesesteak--listed on their menu as one of their signature items, and now I know why. I chose steak with green peppers and onions and added mushrooms for a small extra charge. I don't care for mustard (a Midwest thing) or mayonnaise (a Southern thing) on my cheesesteaks. When I worked in Philadelphia and ate at Pat's and the street carts, I always had ketchup on the bun. At Cloos', I dipped both my cheesesteak and fries into genuine Heinz ketchup from glass bottles--outstanding. I liked the fries so much the day before that I ordered another small order. Growing up in New Jersey, a root beer with a cheesesteak just felt right--even though I rarely drink soda. Some pairings are simply meant to be. The staff are great--nice, patient, and constantly engaging with customers. There's an ongoing conversation about everything, and you can tell they genuinely enjoy their work, their coworkers, and their customers. If you're expecting service with a deep Southern accent, this might not be the place--but the warmth and authenticity more than make up for it. Needless to say, I plan to go back. Two five-star experiences, back-to-back.

We politely let our waitress know and she took our plate back and the kitchen in turn, provided us with a whole new plate of food. We were ready to dig in but this time, the barbecue lacked flavor and my daughters were so disappointed and were ready to leave. I definitely appreciated the kitchen for trying to make it right but I don't think we'll be returning on our next trip to Raleigh.
