I want to like this place more but honestly got one of the worst cuts here. The stylist (won't name names) did not listen to my repeated request not to lop off most of my hair. Instead he just styled me the way he felt was best and I am now wishing for the days to pass for it to grow in again. Even my son asked 'What happened to your hair!?' Philly Bloke totes some terrific hair stylists and they've created a classy establishment in what can't be more than 500sqft. It's worth spending the extra money. My first haircut was by Oswaldo. Great guy, cool client list of celebrities that he's worked with, good haircut. It wasn't really the style I was looking for but to Oswaldo's credit it was a fine haircut. I went back my next visit and booked a different stylist, Brandon, just to see what else was out there. He did a terrific job and his style was a bit more in line with mine. He knew exactly what I was going for and added his input which I gladly excepted. I've since gone back to Brandon two or three more times. I don't plan on shopping around anymore, he gets it. I take haircuts pretty seriously and these guys do as well. This place is more expensive than it's competitors for a reason. Don't come here if ll you want is a Big League Cuts haircut with free beer for $15-20. This place charges more because they deliver more, simple as that. read more

I needed a new barber when I moved to Malvern last year, and Philly Bloke is as great a place I could've hoped for. They've got a rustic, old-school look inside and they offer coffee, beer, water, etc., while waiting. It's a small space, but they make the most of it, for sure. Cuts are around $30-36 for an adult, which is pretty comparable to any higher-end salon in the area, and all it takes is one crappy visit to Supercuts to make you appreciate a real barber. Brandon's been my barber since the first visit - really friendly, easy to chat with, and we both happened to get engaged to our girlfriends within about a month of each other! Parking can be a pain: there's a small alleyway that runs behind the building, but there's only really space for 2-3 cars. There's a large, usable lot across the street in the shopping center, though. read more

Extremely clean and new place - it looked amazing inside and was very inviting. Not loud, nice music, friendly people. 3. Cory washed, cut, and styled my hair - and did a great job at it. We've been looking for a place to get our hair cut on the Main Line (just moved here) and had been unable to find a place we liked. I've been getting my haircut at Philly Bloke for over a year now. Its probably the best option in the entire philly burbs. I live in Wayne and there are 3 barbershops right in the downtown, and all of them are essentially retirees giving mediocre buzzcuts. I make the drive to Paoli. You can't go wrong with any of the barbers. The ambiance is great, and you tell that Eric the owner really has an attention to detail. The location is pretty convenient too. I've used quite a number of small high-quality men's barbers/stylists in my time, particularly when I live in SoCal. Moved around a lot over the past few years, and had a hard time finding good barbers/stylists catering to strictly male hair. I saw some good YELP reviews for Philly Bloke and made an appointment on their website, very convenient. Their location is right on the corner of the Lancaster and the 252, a very busy spot. Depending on which direction you're coming from you may need to either make a hard right or piss off a few tailgaters. The Philly Bloke haircut option include a consult, custom scissor cut and a wash for $35, which is in line for such in the area. The stylist I used, Oswaldo, has a long experience cutting both ladies and gentlemen hair, in New York. I appreciated his unhurried manner. He took his time and genuinely cares about providing a good cut. I'll be sticking with these guys for a while. read more

I walk out with a great cut everytime. Been going to Eric for almost a year and I don't have a single complaint. My experiences with mens haircuts are similar to previous commenters - Supercuts/Hair Cuttery usually sucks, old school barbers only do two types of haircuts, can't stand another hatchet job from a hot, ditzy girl at a stylist joint - I'm a busy dude, I don't have time for any of that substandard bullshit anymore. I wanted to find a place to get a consistently fresh haircut and Philly Bloke is it. After looking to yelp reviews, I gave Philly Bloke a try. As a mom with two (now-teenage) boys, I have been up and down the Main Line and to Philly and back trying barber shops, salons for men, and traditional salons, always feeling like there was something lacking. I have FINALLY found a place with all the right elements - Philly Bloke! The salon has a nice atmosphere, easy appointment scheduling, and most importantly, great stylists! My boys have two very different hair types, and Cory listens to what they want and gives each a great cut. Both boys have received compliments on their noticeably nicer cuts/styling. Never going back to Supercuts anymore. So much better here. To make an appointment, you can do it online, which takes 30 seconds. A haircut here is $34, but is definitely worth it. Oswaldo took time to make sure the haircut was perfect, and I barely told him what I wanted, he just makes the haircut according to each customer's bone structure, according to him. He spent about half an hour for the haircut plus the shampoo and rinse, as opposed to somewhere else where it would be 10 minutes. Definitely will go back again. read more

I've lived in metropolitan areas like NYC, LA, SF, and Philly and have had many cuts. Moving out to the suburbs of Philly, I had low expectations for haircut places in this area. I stumbled upon Philly Bloke which is near where I live and feel lucky that I did. It's probably one of the best men's cuts I've had ANYWHERE! Eric set aside about 45 minutes (there are no other stylists) and he really took time to give a meticulous cut, after listening to what I wanted, using almost exclusively scissors rather than clippers which I think is the best sign of a great stylist. The place is really nicely renovated with TV's, magazines, and beverages tailored toward the male clientele. For $25 for the quality of the cut and experience, it is very reasonable. read more
