I'm giving two stars instead of one because Phill seemed like a decent guy and was professional. However, I was disappointed with the experience. I was charged $175 for a diagnostic visit that lasted five minutes and only confirmed what I had already told him the issue was, that my A/C compressor wasn't engaging. He then quoted an additional $900 to complete the repair. Before scheduling, I specifically asked if he could give me a rough estimate over the phone on this repair since I already knew what the problem was. He declined. I should have known at that point to not schedule the meeting but I booked it anyway out of convenience. Had I been given somewhat of a broad estimate at the very least or that he only uses OEM parts and not aftermarket options, I would not have scheduled the appointment. I understand charging for diagnostics, but it seems like price gouging when there wasn't any new value provided. I wish more details had been communicated upfront to me. Please avoid this mechanic at all costs. Did not properly diagnosis my car. Charged $1028 to fix ac compressor and belt. The AC compressor was $400 and belt $25. Charged nearly $600 in labor for less than 3 hours of repairs. Showed up to my home at 9:30 am and left before noon. I have requested a receipt multiple times and have not received to date. I have no idea what kind of part he used and he took my old part. Not responsive and left my vehicle inoperable after charging excess charges. Taking advantage of someone who knows little about cars. Zero accountability and quite frankly not a pleasant attitude. Who charges over 1k for repairs and provides no receipt?!!! Please, please, please avoid this man at all cost. Heartless scammer. Phil stated my car needed the timing belt and suspension repaired and quotes us $350 and said it would take 30-45 When Phil finally came he took the keys and sat in his car for about 40 minutes. I guess he didn't see me sitting on the other side of the car the entire time because he then got out of the car saying 'the clean up is the hardest part'. I asked him if he could show me the old belt to prove it was changed and he all of a sudden couldn't find it. He then said he would clean out his truck and see if he could find it. I watched this man literally roll right past the garbage bin and out the back gate. He later texted me that he threw it away on accident so the services were free. DO NOT USE THIS MECHANIC. I met Phil a few years ago and used him several times for simple repairs. I contacted him recently for a brake issue. Shortly before he arrived, I noticed a broken fog light and asked Phil if he could make the repair. After completing the brake work, he quoted a price for the replacement fog light and labor and stated the light would take a couple of weeks to arrive. I wrote him a check for the brakes and also pre-paid for the light and labor, which was an additional 300 dollars. The next day, I decided not to fix the light and contacted Phil to cancel. This is when the real Phil showed himself. The character of a man is not to be judged when things are going his way. One's true character is judged when faced with challenges. Immediately, I knew there would be a problem when I attempted to work out a refund for the light and pre-paid labor. He attempted to convince me the light had shipped, (amazon doesn't ship that fast), but ok.... I then offered to return the light myself or pay the restocking fee but he continued to go back and forth with me. It was clear he didn't feel he owed me any of the money back for the work he had not completed. When I told him I would stop payment on the check and pay him for the brake work, he threatened to go to the DA. Really?? So that's what I did. I stopped payment on the check, and promptly sent an electronic payment for the brake work, the stopped payment fee assessed by his bank, and estimated restocking fee. I am done with this man. What legitimate businessman would jeopardize a relationship with a repeat customer and behave in this manner over 300 that you had not yet worked for? As a consumer, I have every right to change my mind and I will never use or recommend Phil's Mobile Mechanic Services to anyone. read more

I've known Phil and his wife for years after sending both my girls thru their daycare. I actually set up Phil with a friend when he first became his own boss and started his business after leaving the shop were he'd been for years. I asked him to look over a truck I had just gotten along with fixing the a.c. on my friends Honda accord. He said he'd do it for half the price of other mechanics. Since he didn't fix it the first time, along with some issues arising, I guess it ended up being the same because it took twice as long. The cliche that you get what you pay for didn't just start over night and rings true when it comes to mechanics, especially if they have no one to answer to. Needless to say, my goal of helping 2 friends and finding a good, honest mechanic ended with Phil a couple Gs richer, my roomate pissed off not knowing if his car was done right and me stuck in the middle of the drama. Don't waste your time. Twice the guy cancels at the very last minute. The second time asks me to send him pics of my brake booster and asks what kind it is and tells me he coming and then doesn't.
