If i was able to give him 100 stars I WOULD !!!! I can't let anybody else touch my hair anymore . First at all let me start by saying i havent seen him for 1 year so my blonde was basically gone . I came to see him a few weeks ago and he started with session 1 again and i was sad my hair did not come out how i wanted it . As always he made me feel good and said to just relax theres sessions and i had to remind myself to be blonde again was gonna take a few sessions . As i mentioned in every single review he is super booked so i made a mistake to go somewhere else to cut my hair and when i went to see Phillip he told me my hair was uneven and no layers at all , oh i was upset , annoyed and i learned once again not to let anybody else touch my hair anyways he fixed my hair new haircut gave me layers and now my blonde its back . I have so much respect for his work and he knows it and his awesome personality makes me wanna go see him all the time lol but too bad its just twice a year . Phillip is the best! I can barely plan out my next meal, but I already made appointments with him through December 2016. So I got an ombre in fall 2013 from another stylist... didn't turn out well at all, my hair turned into that unfortunate harsh yellow/orange. I came across Phillip on Instagram and loved his work (how can you not) but saw that he was super booked up. In the meantime I'd already gotten my hair toned down twice. Then I got lucky and managed to book a slot, I think someone had cancelled so it worked out for me! He definitely fixed my hair and he is amazing every time. My hair was so extreme and I know it wasn't going to be perfect right away, but what's so great about him is that he lets you know too, so you get a sense of the process and how it's going to turn out. Right now it's gotten to the point where I absolutely love my hair, both the balayage and cut. Phillip is fab at listening to the details you want - I like my hair very layered, so that's what I got, and he checks to make sure the shortest layers are short enough. A few weeks ago I asked for about 1.5 inches of length off, and he's really careful to be exact with that, so no worries about your hair turning out too short. I like the ashy balayage look with lighter pieces in front, and he gives my hair so much dimension. In addition to his skills, Phillip also has a great, friendly personality. I'm not that chatty but it's nice to catch up with him every few months. One time I was super into eating clean so he offered me a Kind bar instead of soda, so sweet. This review is for Ninfa Rivera, one of the stylists who works at Phillip Styles. I had previously gone to Ninfa in August and once again in September for hair styling after a referral. I really liked the type of loose waves she had done on me. Because of this, I had a long conversation with her on how I would love for her to do my hair and makeup for a very important event coming up on a Saturday, in January-my baby shower. She agreed and booked me 3 months prior. Since I would be 8 1/2 months pregnant, I wanted to relieve some stress off my shoulders and just have someone take care of my beauty needs that day leading up to my shower. The Thursday before my baby shower, I sent her a few styles of how I wanted my hair and makeup done, but didn't hear back. Mind you, the week before and a few days leading up to the my appointment date, I received various appointment reminders. I had to be at my venue at 11 AM, and therefore Ninfa booked me at 8 AM in order for me to make it on time. A few HOURS before my baby shower, at 4:46 AM, Ninfa sends me a text informing me she's ill and can not perform any of the services. Luckily, I saw these texts at around 6 AM and texted her back, asking...begging her...to help me. I would have thought she would at least help me find someone to take me with such short notice since it would be nearly impossible to find someone to do my hair and makeup in two hours and have me ready by the time I needed it. I never heard back from her again after she backed out. The amount of stress this caused me and the lack of professionalism was something I've never encountered with anyone-I've gotten various beauty services done before for events, my wedding, etc. I understand people can become ill, but for her not even inform me with 24 hours notice (canceling on me 3 hours prior to my appointment), or make an effort to help me, left me speechless. It was not the type of stress I needed, especially being so pregnant. After the fact, I saw her Instagram account @beautybyNinfa look at my entire story of my big day at around 5 PM. Not only that, the day after this, she posted pictures of herself on her social media out and about in DTLA not looking "ill" at all. Although, again, she never offered an apology or anything. I heard about Phillip because I literally flagged somebody with the sickest hair at Nordstrom years ago and she showed me Phillip's Instagram. From there, my obsession with his work grew even more when I saw his work posted on his account. I COULD NOT WAIT to sit in his chair! Fast forward to finally being able to go to him and bam! Covid started and we had our appointment canceled a handful of times! I was so disappointed each time but each time I was more and more impressed with how professional Phillip was even before we met. He texted me personally to tell me that he would have to close his salon due to the virus and then again would text me to tell me he's going to be opening back up. The level of communication was so refreshing and impressive! So you can say I already loved him before even getting to the salon. And then I finally made it there! (To reassure everyone, he follows CDC guidelines and is incredibly throughout about his clients' level of comfort) I don't know whether I'm more impressed with him as a human being or as a stylist. You can definitely say we hit it off- he's easy to talk to, extremely thoughtful and kind in asking the client what kind of look they want, how they usually wear their hair, etc. Then he gets to work! He's a true artist! He takes his time in getting your hair exactly how you want it and even though his schedule is jam packed (the guy's schedule fills up for weeks and sometimes months ahead) he gives everyone time and attention as though they were the only one on his agenda for the day. Wella, people !! And he charged me $130 (+ 20% tip )for a cheap horrible toner you get from Sally's at 8 bucks . I absolutely loved my previous stylist and still do but the commute to the valley was just so difficult due to my hectic schedule and the truth was I wanted a more personalized experience which is why when my friend told me about Phillip's set up I jumped on the Phillip ship. I love love love the set up! His set up is very intimate and both him and his assistant make you feel like you are talking to friends while you are getting your hair done. When I was there he was the only stylist working within the space I hear he does share that space with one other stylist so your experience might be a bit different but I doubt that would make a big difference. Ok so now on to the hair. I am not a fan of short hair but I had done so much to my hair in the past 2 years cutting my hair in order to have it grow healthy was a MUST. I told Phillip to do his best to try and keep me blonde and he sure did he made my blonde look beautiful and healthy. The thing that impressed me the most about him was the fact that he seriously made me fall in love with my short hair. UPDATE: After my last color session with Phillip I left with the trendy granny look in hopes it would wash out to platinum in a few weeks. Well, it didn't. After about 4 weeks, my roots (about 2") were a yellow gold color while the rest of my hair was a ash gray color. I was horrified and I sent Phillip a few pictures asking him what I could do. Since I don't have his personal number I messaged the number on the style seat website and he replied within an hour. Phillip asked me when I would be available to come in for a retouch. I was relieved. We worked out a deal which I found to be extremely generous. Now, two weeks later I am an amazing shade of blonde, blended to perfection and satisfied. For years I have been coming to Phillip and ladies possibly gentleman let me tell you he not only works wonders, but he stands by his work. I have been to multiple salons and left disappointed- the cut was either too choppy, my hair was too brassy, or just overall sloppy. Because of that, I did meticulous research until I found Phillip's instagram page and was instantly impressed and optimistic upon booking the first appointment. When I first met Phillip, we clicked right away, but I think it would be difficult not to considering his personality is contagious. Aside from being one of the most genuine people I have ever met, he treats his work like an art and i'm left so confident and satisfied every time. I came to Phillip on Saturday Sept 6th, Phillip is a excellent stylist not only is he extremely professional, but he is PERSONABLE, which i find nowadays is a rare quality in people. I clicked with him instantly & was so excited. I found that we had a lot in common, so conversations were super easy and made my experience that much more fun. Firstly, I must tell you I was dying to have my hair done by him. I saw his pictures on Instagram & thought I'd give it a try, this is my 3rd time getting my hair done by him now! I will never let anyone else touch my hair. I LOVE my Balayage Ombré, while keeping my root natural & face framing layers and style. I was also very pleased that Phillip was following sanitation procedures so well. I know that is a nerdy thing to say but it is very important to me & I can't be the only one! All in all my hair came out looking beautiful and I felt like I had spent 3 hours with my best friend. (: I would recommend him along with his adorable salon to any and everyone. PHILLIP IS AMAZING! Since day one i knew he was the one. Once you find a great hair stylist, you remain loyal. I came to him for the first time in May and wanted a new look, but wasnt sure what i wanted to do with it. I wasnt sure if it was his honesty or his awesome personality that made me trust him but I'm glad I did. I've been coming to Phillip for almost 3 years now . Every time I sit on his chair  I walk out of his studio with a completely different look. I walk in there with no idea of what other than I want CHANGE! The first time I came to him I had long brown Virgin LATIN hair. For those who don't know what that means, my hair is the most stubborn and brassy thing to work with . I went from dark brown to blonde to platinum to blue to turquoise to purple and FINALLY washed off back to its original balayage ombre. It all took time and patience. You see for those who do hair, then you understand that it's the one of the hardest things to do . If u bleach it for too long u break the hair or end up with a orange goldy hair . Alot of people dnt understand u need to break it up into sessions with at least 6 weeks in btwn to give ur hair time to repair. Phillip worked his magic the first time. After being in his chair for 5+ hours he made me a blonde. Now at first it wasn't the blonde I wanted but I knew I had to come in for another session to get to where I needed to be. "Platinum" . For my next session I came in 6 weeks later and Phillip made me lighter.  Finally my hair was perfect! !!! It was a beautiful palitunum blonde. The best part about it was that my hair did not feel dry or unhealthy .  I came back 3 months later and decided to go blue . From blue I went turquoise and then went purple. The purple faded in a grey which then faded back into my original ombre. 8 months later and I'm back in Phillips chair . Can't wait to post a picture of today's masterpiece!  Now some may think Phillip is too pricey so decide to look for anther hair stylist.  Word of advice you really get what you pay for!  Don't go to just anyone just to save a few hundred dollars because in the end you'll end up paying more trying to fix it . A good hair stylist let's you know what they are capable of achieving each session . Phillip does that and more. He gives you tips on styling ,maintaining , and reparing your hair. Hes the best! As a client keep in mind they are the artist they know what your doing so  be patient and stay loyal and I promise you in the end it will all be worth it!
