I thought I would get the document when I sign, but rhey said to come back at 3pm (my appointment was 11am) and that's expedited already. I didn't have time to wait that long so I just went across the office to get a prepaid USPS envelope so they'll just mail the document to me. Which by the way, the office across selling prepaid envelopes and making copies is a good hustle. And to add more inconvenience, they only take cash. Even though there's a sign that says CC payments have a 4% service fee. The office across also only take cash or Zelle. read more

Perhaps, maybe because we went on a right time after the New Year wherein people are not back from the holiday mode. came along with my parents to get their business and stuff done for their dual citizenship. The Philippine consulate general is in a pretty cool building in Koreatown. The elevators are very modern and I didn't know how to work it at first lol. But it's super easy! ADA accessible and they are not pet friendly here, but I did have my service dog which isn't considered a pet. of course by law, they allowed me to have my dog with me. The staff is pretty friendly; I didn't really communicate much with them, but they seemed friendly. depending on how many people there are you might have to wait a few hours. Parking was generally easy to find. I walked around and ate at a restaurant while I waited. read more

Making appointments for consular services is discouraging. It is pointless at times and frustrating. I made an appointment for notary services. I arrived 15minutes early for the said appointment, checked in and received my number. The employee at the notary window passed my number and I went to her, she said I have to go get another number instead of helping me out. I started to talk to her but she dismissed me rudely. Fast forward to receiving my notarized document. My last name was misspelled so I have to go back again. This time it was another employee, nicer and accommodating. I told her the problem and she made sure to get it right. I was told to wait for a couple of hours but I was able to get back my document within an hour. Which is good for me because I don't have to worry about my parking. read more

Most of the staff were nice and professional. But the lady in the passport dept (window #2), who was one of the younger staff, was rude and spoke to us in a condescending way. She seemed more interested in talking to her coworkers about her Las Vegas trip than providing customer service. I'm sharing my experience with the Consulate based on my smooth process for both dual citizenship and PH passport applications. After securing the PSA document needed for Dual Citizenship, my sisters and I scheduled an appointment via the Consulate's website in December 2024, about a week and a half in advance. On the day of the appointment, we checked in at the front desk, received our numbers, and waited for our names to be called. With all the required documents and our 2x2 photos in hand, the process went very smoothly. The staff was efficient, reviewing our documents, asking a few questions, processing everything, and stamping my application. After paying the fees, the oath-taking ceremony was completed the same day--certificate included! Everything was taken care of in just one visit. This is why I'm puzzled by some of the negative reviews. From my experience, if you come prepared with all the necessary documents (as listed on the website) and have your appointment set, the process should be quick and painless. Here's a quick summary of the documents you'll need: PSA Certificate from the Philippines (replaces the NSO document, you can apply online)--bring a copy | US Citizenship certificate--bring a copy | US Passport--bring a copy | If you have an old PH Passport, bring it | Two 2x2 passport photos (they only asked for two when I applied, even though three are mentioned online) Payment can be made via credit or debit card for convenience. I also recommend bringing the original documents just in case. We also applied for our PH passports the same day. After the Oath-taking, be sure to request a passport application at the front check-in counter. Then, you can go grab a bite, fill out the form, and return later. There's also a small copy center on the same floor where you can have your Dual Citizenship Certificate copied and purchase a priority mail envelope for your PH passport. They accept credit and debit cards if you don't have cash. Overall, I believe the Consulate has made significant improvements, however, in consideration of the reviews, the staff needs to evaluate their attitude and the way they treat their fellow Filipinos, a little bit of empathy, compassion and friendliness towards all applicants wouldn't hurt but will boost positive reviews and experience. The feedback QR code is a good step towards improving service! Fingers crossed this is thoroughly reviewed and constructive suggestions implemented. Let's support our Consulate as they work to serve us better! When they succeed, it reflects positively on all of us. Let's collaborate and focus on solutions, rather than dwell on minor issues--they are an extension of the Motherland after all, aside from our embassy. read more

My mom's appointment was at 1:20pm. She was here on time. The receptionist told her to scan a QR code and have a seat in the waiting area. The Notary person will call her name when it's her turn. 2 hours later, my mom is still in the waiting room. When she checked with the cashier window, the person there said "why didn't you go up to the Notary window and speak to the person?" My mom told her she what she was instructed. The Notary person was called to her window from somewhere in the back (there was a lot of noise and laughter from back there). The Notary person went over all the details that my mom had to do and said they close in 30 minutes. What happened during the 2 hours we waited? The lobby had a handful of people waiting and the service windows had one person working. It wasn't until 3:00pm that they had 3 workers out on the window to clear the lobby. Someone else here on Yelp said it best, this place gives the Philippines a bad name. The word TAMAD comes to mind. read more

Ms. Ligaya of the Civil Registry was really nice and always willing to go above and beyond to help her customers. I talked to her on the phone several times prior to our visit and she patiently explained everything to me and was always happy to answer all my questions, which made the process a lot easier for me during our visit. The reason why I only gave 4 stars was because Ruby Rodriguez, the former ABS CBN "not an A-list comedian" was the exact opposite. I overheard her talking to her customers and made them feel stupid when asking questions. She was talking so loud and so annoying like she wants to be noticed for being there. 2025-01-10 - I had a great experience at the consulate today! The consulate staff were friendly, professional, and showed respect to everyone - kudos to Rommel (Window 7), the lovely consulate staff in Passport Windows 1, 3, the 2 cashiers, & the front desk staff. I was able to take care of my dual citizenship in the morning & get my passport application processed after lunch. I cannot stress this enough: please make sure you have all your documents (PSA birth certificate, etc.) in order and photocopied in advance & don't sign any forms until asked by the staff when you're at the window. Parking: I would suggest metered street parking. I parked on 7th Street and I spent $4. Photocopies: $.50 per page in suite 580 (for dual citizenship papers). My family and I had a great experience with the systematic process at the Philippine Consulate Los Angeles. We set up an appointment and did not have to wait long. We followed every instruction posted on their website and did not have any issues. Window No. 14, (forgot the helpful lady's name) was very professional, courteous, and answered all our questions). She expedited our SPA and got it in 2.5 hours! The vibe, order of business, from the parking instructions, to where to get off (on the 5th floor), falling in line to get a QR code for your mobile numbering sequence to get to your window, and friendly staff on the 5th floor reception window, was such a welcoming vibe and experience. It is understandable that as the peak period begins before major holidays are looming, we cannot blame it on their staff or unavailable time slots online during this busy period. It is best to plan in advance. Check their mobile phone app confirmation and when you get there, always have your cellphone handy! Their website has so many pop ups. So hard to get an appointment online. I was on leave for 3 months, so I took the opportunity to get an appointment, I wasn't able to get any. I stopped then 2yrs later I tried again and finally got one. I know I had all my requirements for dual citizenship but little did I know that you have to get your birth certificate online thru PSA. They don't accept the copy that you have kept for a long time. The website did not give instructions on how to get it, it was such a hassle. I only knew when the staff gave me a little piece of paper with the instructions in it. They personnel was pretty nice though, he assured me it will be fast and that I don't have to make an appointment going back. What I didn't like was listening to Ms Ruby Rodriguez, how rude and condescending she was to the clients. She talks to them like they're stupid people. I was so relieved that someone else helped me not her. So please PCG, improve your website and please please your staff may need customer service classes. read more

it took about 2 weeks for them to mail back my daughter's passport. My review stays the same lol. So, yes park on the street and find metered parking so you don't have to deal with the parking attendants. Bring your patience or you will flip your lid. Before you make an appointment make sure you have the documents you need 3x copied just in case. If there is anything that might want them to ask you for more IDS bring them (whether that's a baptismal certificate, birth certificate etc). Good luck! read more

They also want a new report of marriage certificate. How many times do I have to report my marriage?! I have to leave work for a day to do this and nothing happened. They even put cancelled on my expired passport with my married name on it so I won't be able to renew it in PH. We're all the same, working in US to get a better life and most of us were born in PH and you guys makes everything more difficult for the Pinoys in LA. My friend in Houston PH embassy did not encounter this difficulty and we have the documents. She got her dual citizenship even without reporting her marriage. read more

After all these years, the Philippine Consulate in Los Angeles fail to improve their customer service. I understand that with COVID-19 it has been hard to get an appointment in ANY consulate, but that's not the issue I have. If you're one of the lucky ones who was able to schedule your appointment; you probably receive their e-mail that had basically what you need to know on the day of your appointment. Right off the bat, their own staff don't pay attention to what they're sending the applicants and what they have posted on their office. If you see the attached image... Item 2 allows the applicant to bring a companion based on the criteria. I am currently 8 months pregnant and their security (who I understand is doing their job) have little to no clue what the Philippine Consulate is sending. Because she then has the audacity to ask me if I needed my husband. Yes, at 8 months; I need my husband beside me because that's a crucial time for a pregnant woman. I didn't bring my husband with me to turn the Philippine Consulate into a "date." She finally RUDELY agrees to let him in, but proceeds to insult his attire. Which brings me to item 3. Item 3 specifies that the APPLICANTS are expected to wear proper attire. So, yes. My husband wasn't wearing "presentable" attire because HE IS NOT THE APPLICANT. Ms. Security Guard, who could've properly addressed this decides to be snarky and tell my husband, "That, that, and that aren't proper attire." AS SHE ALLOWED other applicants to enter the office in their flip flops. Now, you may defend that it's their "requirements." Well, the requirements that are being sent to the applicant is different from what they have posted on their office. Next, the older gentleman who checks you in just needs to retire. I'm sorry. He seems to not enjoy his position because he asks me my last name-which I give to him-and goes, "You're not here." Yes, I came to the embassy to pretend I have an appointment and the confirmation e-mail is completely made up. After having a small attitude about it; he finally requests my ID, so he can find my appointment. Alright, cool. Finally, I get called for my appointment and that was a good 3-minute pleasant customer service. The staff explained that I needed to go to the other window to address a different matter. Proceeded to tell me to go ahead and just ask them the requirements for that process. I asked if I needed a number to ask the question and the staff told me I didn't need one since I'm just asking a requirement. So, I head to the window and just wait patiently until the other customer was done. The gentleman in that window may need a new pair of glasses because at 8-months pregnant; he didn't see me at all. He could've said, "Ma'am you need to fall in line and get a number to ask a question." And that would've been totally fine. But instead, he chose to completely ignore me and proceed about his business. I'm sorry to say even if I am a Filipino, I am ASHAMED of the customer service at the Philippine Consulate. It doesn't matter how many customer service forms you fill out; it's not going to change and nothing is going to improve. They continue to keep these elderly staff that are just miserable and it shows through how they treat their customers. So, frankly; I'm just glad I really don't need their services for a while because they just suck. And there's no better way to express that. read more

1) Get appointment online. 2) Gather all necessary paperwork (which is listed on their website) 3) make photocopies of the needed paperwork 4) get pre paid USPS envelope 5) go in, pay fee, take picture and that's it. We've been trying to get an appointment for this location since last October. As you all know. The available slots are always "full" which sounds like it seems impossible to get an appointment, but if you think about it, how would they accommodate so much people? Which is why they have an appointment system. And their appointment system is released randomly...in which it gets full pretty fast. This past MLK holiday, my wife and I were bored and didn't have anything to do, and so we just decided to check their appointment system if they had any openings (we do this three times a day for the past 4 months) and lo and behold. We saw the whole week open! This was around 10pm-11pm Monday night. It was great seeing green boxes on the dates as well since we were used to seeing red boxes. We quickly signed up for an appointment and within 10 mins... all those green boxes became red. So you guys know, there are a lot of Filipinos in SoCal....btw, we live in Utah, but have family in SoCal which is why PCG LA was our number one choice. We were willing to drive to Texas or even chicago for the PCG since they always have openings there. I know, it's ridiculous that they should take care of their fellow Filipinos here but this consulate is small as it is and with the amount of Filipinos there are in the surrounding location, they're not able to accommodate everyone. Last year when we filed for my wife's "ROM" there was a missing document, and they were emailing us in terms of communication. And it would take 2-3 days for them to reply back. And with covid going on and ECQ or whatever in the Philippines. Everything is hectic. Just have patience. Anyway, my wife was prepared when she came in here. We had all the paperwork that they needed. And she was in and out in 35 mins for her passport renewal. And we were on our way. There is parking downstairs. And don't forget to get a parking validation from the security guard since it's worth $8 I believe. For 1 hour, parking was supposed to be $15 but with validation it was $7. Elevators though are a bit confusing, and they're on a touch pad, you'll see when you get there. Regardless, the lady in "processing" which is the first section everyone goes to, was really really nice. Have nothing but good things to say about this location except do your research first and come prepared with the requirements. read more

I guess this place is either a hit or miss. Luckily for me, the last two visits were hits. This second visit, albeit a challenge, went good (if not better) than my last. It is true: trying to get an appointment online is an uphill battle (I feel that's an understatement) because it took me three months to schedule both my parents for their passport renewal. (I checked their online calendar EVERYDAY.) The plan was to get my parents back-to-back appointments on the same day, but the appointment slots were getting taken much too quickly that I ended up scheduling them for back-to-back days instead. I didn't mind it so much - it was far better than no appointments at all. I brought both of them with me to the first appointment. I had all their paperwork ready (original and copies on hand, SASE labeled.) Only applicants are allowed inside, so Mom went in and Pops and I waited downstairs. Mom was smart enough to tell the worker on window #1 that Pops had an appointment, but not until the next day. She chanced and asked if he, being a senior citizen as well as afflicted with a medical condition, can be seen on the same day rather than coming back the next day. Worker at window #1 said, "No problem!" They even allowed me to go in with them. Mom's appointment was at 11am. We got there at 10am. We walked outta there by noon with both their passports renewed. (We just have to play the waiting game of receiving their passports in the mail.) I thought it was incredibly efficient. Window #1 worker even walked around between 1130am to noon making sure everyone in the waiting area were already seen by him before they closed down for lunch. The only thing I didn't like is their security guard. I don't feel she's equipped to do the job. She was tasked to verify appointments or to stop those who don't have it - a task she would be good at if she wasn't distracted by her talking and texting (yes! at the same time) on her personal phone. Sooooo unprofessional! And boy, she can use a little more training on empathy. There was a lady standing outside who looked bewildered and asked me how we were able to get an appointment. I told her I did it online. She said she didn't have access to a computer and has no idea how else to do it. If only security lady paid more attention (or if she had a hint of compassion, maybe) then this perplexed customer wouldn't feel so confused or lost. It seems our kabayan got blown off at entry/inquiry since she didn't have an appointment. (If I were only allowed to give her Pops' next-day appointment slot!) I advised her to speak to the gentleman at check-in and go from there. (I really hope she was able to get a future appointment.) REMINDERS (since I already pointed these out on my first review): 1) Bring cash! It'll avoid lots of complications. Keep receipts. 2) Make copies of everything. It'll save you and them a lot of time and hassle. (But don't forget to bring originals!) 3) Picking up renewed passports no longer an option. Bring a PRIORITY MAIL SASE. It can be purchased at your local USPS. 4) Park underground. Enter through Mariposa. PCG will validate which will bring your $18 fee to $7. (I wish I knew this last time I was here.) WORTH IT. I'm not so deterred anymore. Well deserved 5th star. read more
