He contradicts himself from one visit to the next. When you have a serious medical condition, and try to explain the precautions for procedures, he huffs, "It doesn't matter." He didn't even try to help with the reason for my visit on this particular day. All he wanted to discuss was an upcoming procedure, which is not happening with him. He said one thing the first visit and a totally different thing this time. He's all over the place. I will find a kind and competent dentist that listens to medical concerns. And by the way, I have friends and family who have left the practice since Dr Owen took over, because of some of the same things I am sharing now. However, his assistant was a helpful and polite young man. I am blessed to be surrounded by kind, competent and compassionate medical professionals. Unfortunately, Dr (??) Owens is not one of them.

When I contacted the office they let me know that Dr Owens is the only dentist that is still there (guess all the other dentists that used to work there left) and they would be happy to schedule an appointment for me but then they would have to refer me out anyway because Dr Owens can't do the same dental procedures that Dr Jackson and Dr Kang did when they were there. Why would they leave doctors on their website that aren't working there anymore? If they can't even keep their website updated, can I trust them with my dental care? I had heard great things about this office but since Dr Jackson retired and sold his business things have changed a lot and not for the better.

They took photos of my teeth and showed them to me on a large monitor to point out where I had tooth decay. Since there were so many "cavities" they divided the work into two appointments. The first appointment was very uncomfortable, the dentist seemed rushed and didn't want me to swallow as often as I needed to. I was sick with a sinus infection and tried to cancel the 2nd appointment on the Friday before a Tuesday appointment over a holiday weekend. They were very aggressive about wanting to charge me for the appointment. I decided to get a second opinion and actually got two other dentists to look at the photos and x-rays and they both said the so-called cavities were only stains and natural wear on the teeth and did not need treatment. Sadly, I had already paid for over $2K in unneeded and uncomfortable dental work.

That's when things got ugly. I was hit with a $4,200 "cancellation fee" for a service I never received. Yes, $4,200. And then they sent that outrageous bill to collections, deliberately damaging my credit. All for being sick and standing up for myself. At first, Dr. Curington comes across as warm and friendly, but that quickly fades if you question a service or refuse a recommendation. Based on what I've read in other reviews since, I'm not the only one who's experienced this kind of treatment. In my opinion, her concern is not your care--it's your money. Her staff reflects this as well, using pressure tactics and intimidation that no patient should ever deal with. After that nightmare, Magnolia Ridge Dental stepped up in a big way. Even though Dr. Curington refused to release my recent X-rays, Magnolia welcomed me, got me in immediately, and provided top-tier care--at a fraction of the cost. I truly cannot thank them enough.
