Horton funeral Service they will try and do take advantage of the…read morefamily and charge your love ones an additional 1,000.00 to have your love one service on a Saturday after the arrangements have been already fully paid for in advance of your love one passing. Examine the prepaid contract if they insist on getting the additional $1,000.00 well pay them for what they have done and have your love one picked up from Hortons by the new funeral home and taken to the other funeral home that will respect you get a refund from Hortons and this part is "important" get the new funeral home to order your casket. Remember "You" are in charge of your deceased family member not the funeral home. It's totally unnecessary to rip off family members handling the arrangements for an additional 1,000.00 pocket money for the funeral home to handle your loved ones after prearrangements has already been made and "paid for". Also if the removal person shows up to your residence to remove your loved one dressed inappropriately with a hoodie on and casual baggy pants like he's going to a ball game "as a representative of the funeral home" send him away call the funeral Home or another funeral home and "demand" someone that will respect your home and your family that will show up dressed appropriately with at least dress slacks and a decent shirt casual or dress shoes and don't accept them requesting your help to remove your loved one from your residence they should come prepared with two people remember you're paying for this proper service and you tell the funeral home what time to come to your residence to pick up your loved one if you're waiting for other family members to come to your home before your love one is removed from your residence generally they come automatically within 90 minutes but if you need more time let them know when you call to notify them of the passing of your loved one. .

The only thing that was a issue for me was that when first sitting down to meet with someone a piece of paper was just sat in front of my face with no real directions or questions being asked to what I would like to see. If you are helping someone with planning while they are grieving or suffered a loss it is very confusing to just sit down and look at a paper with no real guidance or direction. The other issue I had was we paid for a service and it wasn't provided in the time that we previously discussed. Other than that the workers are very respectful upbeat and polite. A little on the pricey side but still decent.

When your loved one passes, go ANYWHERE ELSE but here. My father passed very suddenly and I thought…read morePumphrey would be a good place to host services and I was sadly mistaken. We had family at the house, so we gave a courtesy call to reschedule the appointment, and he said "absolutely not". We only wanted to push the appointment back 30 minutes to an hour as it's been less than 48 hours since we received the tragic news and our big family is grieving a tragic loss. Mr. Pumphrey was not accommodating. This is very interesting because we still arrived to the appointment (about 15 mins late) and they did not have any other appointments that day. At the appointment (took about 2.5 hours) we were not offered water or anything to drink. Mr. Pumphrey would not even come to talk to my family, instead he sent his colleague to deliver the news that he would not take the time to come talk to us although he was in the building. I've never been to any business where I've asked for the manager and they blatantly declined.. especially when you're about to spend about $20,000! Pumphrey is more like DUMP-HREY as the way he treats his clientele is absolute trash. I'm pretty sure he is racist to anyone who isn't of Caucasian descent, so keep that in mind too.. Save your time and energy and go elsewhere to send your loved one to heaven in peace The only nice person who works there is Shelby, and I personally think she's out of place at such a mean-spirited environment. God help this place, it is very much needed.

It is with immense appreciation for the Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Homes that I write this comment…read more: I spent a considerable amount of time today formulating a pre arrangement funeral plan with the gracious support of Ms. Angelette Rawls - Bannister, Funeral Director. Our meeting was comprehensive, and coupled with a tour of the elegant facility. Ms. Rawls - Bannister was both considerate, and an excellent communicator.

USE SOMEONE ELSE -so you don't have to add watching the funeral home to the list of things to do…read moreduring a tragic time. We used McQuire Funeral Home for my mothers cremation. We had a memorial service elsewhere, so this was to be the only service provided. They offered a 3rd party for the programs and to place the obituary ad in the Washington Post. When we got the funeral program I immediately noticed McQuire had added their logo to the program w/out asking. It just showed up in the 1st round shared w/ us by the printer. I thought that was tacky but was able to have that removed. I should have taken this as a sign. We sent them the final copy of the obituary and the almost $700 for the fee to the Washington Post. However, this time we were not able to see/approve the obit before it was printed. I can't put into words the disgust I felt when I saw the funeral home had added "Funeral services at McQuire" to the final obituary. Besides the fact that we weren't asked if this was ok, it wasn't true. It would have been misleading for anyone looking for information about the memorial. This is greedy and shameful. They offered my father $16 as compensation for the pain their greed caused during the darkest time of our lives and for something that can't be fixed. To further confirm the integrity of this place, I'd like to add that we considered using them for limo services but their fee of $675 for a 9 seat car was over $200 more then the other estimates received. The last thing you want to be worried about when you lose a love one is being taken advantage of the funeral home. Try whichever other one that pops up in this screen instead. Your chances of not adding pain on top of pain will be better.
