That is no ceremony, no viewing, just let Tri-state pick up the remains from the hospital and return them to me in a suitable container. I am sure Tri-state offers more elaborate funerals. But, direct cremation was my preference. And frankly I cannot think of anything they could have done better given that. Dignified, courteous, caring, efficient, and affordable. We had a memorial service elsewhere, so this was to be the only service provided. They offered a 3rd party for the programs and to place the obituary ad in the Washington Post. When we got the funeral program I immediately noticed McQuire had added their logo to the program w/out asking. It just showed up in the 1st round shared w/ us by the printer. I thought that was tacky but was able to have that removed. I should have taken this as a sign. We sent them the final copy of the obituary and the almost $700 for the fee to the Washington Post. However, this time we were not able to see/approve the obit before it was printed. I can't put into words the disgust I felt when I saw the funeral home had added "Funeral services at McQuire" to the final obituary. Besides the fact that we weren't asked if this was ok, it wasn't true. It would have been misleading for anyone looking for information about the memorial. This is greedy and shameful. They offered my father $16 as compensation for the pain their greed caused during the darkest time of our lives and for something that can't be fixed. To further confirm the integrity of this place, I'd like to add that we considered using them for limo services but their fee of $675 for a 9 seat car was over $200 more then the other estimates received. The last thing you want to be worried about when you lose a love one is being taken advantage of the funeral home. Try whichever other one that pops up in this screen instead. Your chances of not adding pain on top of pain will be better.

They did a wonderful job on my mom making her look so beautiful and peaceful. Everyone there were very nice, sympathetic, and professional. However, there were some confusion with the insurance policy (because Johnathan for some reason could not get the policy numbers correct no matter how many times it was given to him through email or verbally). Eventually, everything cleared up and the funeral home was paid. But during time he was unprofessional with a family member who was helping me with the funeral arrangements and dealing with policy. My family member decided to leave a review about their experience dealing with him and of course it was not a good one. Today, while I am still grieving the passing of my mother, Johnathan called me to question me about the review that my family had given and was very rude, unprofessional, and nasty. It's one thing to call to see what the problem was, how things could have been handled differently, or to just apologize, but to call and be nasty and rude about it and even threaten to respond back to review with a negative comment of your own is downright unprofessional. And from what I see there are other bad reviews here as well as on yelp. My mother is gone, and you are calling her grieving daughter about a review? Are you serious? By you making that call has cause more harm and good. The next time you decide to call a grieving family stop and think first about how that call can affect them and your business.

Vicky had dropped the ball at every single turn. 1. Three different dates were offered to have the service, April 21, 24, or 25th. Vicky stated that she was going to contact the cemetery to coordinate a date and follow up with us by Wednesday. Wednesday came and we had not heard from Vicky. We had to call the cemetery ourselves to coordinate a date. Then upon calling Vicky to follow-up ourselves, we were told that one of the dates we tried to go with was given away. The date she offered was given away while we waited on Vicky to do something that she never even did. That was the first strike. 2. The online obituary. The family was never asked for a picture or obituary to put on the Marshall-March website. On the website, there was a generic picture. For the family to have never had to plan a funeral before, the immediate family was unaware that that was apart of the process. We reached out to Vicky who then requested the photo and obituary. The picture was submitted via email. The night before the funeral, the obituary had still not been updated. I called Vicky about 9:40pm about this, to which she responded that she would check her email. That night, it was finally updated. The night before the service. 3. While we gathered for the final viewing the day before the service, the people did not even have a picture of our loved one to try to get the makeup right. Why? Because Vicky didn't check her email for the photo until that night. Upsettingly, our loved one did not look like herself at all. I know that a better job could have been done because I've witnessed it with other loved ones, and they looked like themselves, no matter how much time passed. While at the final viewing, Vicky never once stepped foot in to greet the family and make sure everything was okay. She was there at the office while we were there. We texted her for information about the time of the car's arrival the next day and she read the message while we were there and never responded. We had to ask someone else who worked there to confirm the time for the car. 4. The last issue was the programs. We supplied our own programs. The viewing started at 10am, service at 11am. Why on earth would the funeral home tell us that programs were not being passed out until almost 11? Why? If we are requested the programs at the viewing, why wait? Typically, the programs should be handed out at the time of viewing or as people walk in. There are some people who just come to the viewing for religious reasons or other and they also deserve a program. That on top of everything else just added to the frustration we were already feeling. I know that not everyone at Marshall March provides bad service like this, but we could never recommend them to anyone based off of our experience. SN: The gentleman that drove the car and transported us to and from the funeral was exceptional. He provided excellent service and was super accommodating, except for when he beat the family riding in the car inside of the repast for food lol. I'd give 1/5 stars for Vicky's service. I'm sorry but this is how we feel.
