Most importantly, he helped me rediscover my love for golf. His positive, encouraging coaching style makes every lesson enjoyable, and I genuinely look forward to my weekly sessions. Mark is a true professional who knows how to help golfers improve, regardless of their skill level. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to take their game to the next level. The entire staff at Baylands is friendly and welcoming. I was especially impressed when Matt in the pro shop went out of his way to help an elderly couple by loading their clubs onto their cart--a small gesture that spoke volumes about the level of customer service. I also enjoy seeing the young golfers taking lessons on Wednesdays. It's great to see the next generation learning and enjoying the game. The course is always in excellent condition, making Baylands a wonderful place to practice, learn, and play.

Have to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I asked about using the hitting bays to demo clubs, and a nice young lady got me set up and even said she would build clubs with shafts to my specs to try! Wasn't expecting that level of service. Unfortunately, she had to excuse herself and another gentleman took over who wasn't as accommodating in offering to build to my specs. Got to demo three of the hottest new drivers and 3 woods with no sales pressure in their state of the art golf simulators. Although, I didn't buy, I was impressed with the service and selection. Then I began walking around the store and saw they have a Trackman practice area that people can sign up for as regulars and a good amount of clothing and accessories with many popular retail brands (Nike, Adidas, etc) and lesser known but quality looking apparel on sale for reasonable ($50 and under, not $100-150 on sale) prices. As a regular shopper at the Golf Mart Superstore in South City/San Bruno, I would day this store is nicer but doesn't have as many used clubs, esp. from top brands like Taylormade, Callaway, Ping, etc., to choose from. As an avid golfer interested in improving my game, I will be back soon to try out more of the latest equipment or perhaps take advantage of their practice program or free fitting service, too!!

I've bought a putter from them before, and their putter selection is massive. A lot of brand new, demo, and pre-owned options for all budgets. Pricing is typically set by the manufacturers so it's comparable to other stores and online. However, they have so many hitting bays to try out clubs before you buy, and they even offer lessons which I think is cool. What I love about this store is that the clothing and shoe selection is probably one of the biggest in the Peninsula. They carry all the major brands and have plenty of racks with sales, just takes some browsing around to find a hidden gem. The only drawback to this store was that the selection of pre-owned irons and clubs left a bit too be desired. Also the pricing on the pre-owned clubs they have a really high, so not much value. I've seen videos online of people finding hidden gems, so I tried my luck but failed. Either way, as a golfer, this is a great place to browse and try out golf clubs and grab gear. Plenty of parking as well.

I love swimming here--there's an excellent lap pool where you can sign up for lanes, a diving board for extra fun, and plenty of open swim time for families. Kids can't get enough of the swim team, and there's even a shaded baby pool that's perfect for infants and toddlers. The tennis courts are top of the line, whether you're playing just for fun or competitively. The tennis pros are fantastic, and the whole tennis community here is great. Pickleball is also really taking off--it's always fun and social. The gym has everything you could want: Peloton bikes, free weights, machines, and a full range of classes. Beyond fitness, people also gather for bridge, mahjong, and other activities, so there's something for everyone. The food is excellent, the full bar is always a plus, and the events calendar is packed. There are great adult activities (salsa dancing, wine tasting, Aloha nights) and plenty for kids too (kids' night out, movie night, and more). Best of all, the community is welcoming and friendly. It's easy to meet people here, and many members end up making lifelong friends. All around, it's a wonderful club--I can't recommend it enough!

I had booked our tee times well in advance, but there was a bit of a miscommunication on the books when we arrived, and the staff seemed surprised by our family check-in. Honestly, Nate was the absolute MVP of the day. Without him, our day would have been ruined. So, we truly appreciate him and we were so grateful that he went above and beyond to get us completely taken care of, ensuring our family was able to stick together and play/spectate as a group for the whole round. We timed the day perfectly, wrapping up on the 18th hole right around 8 PM. To cap off a great day, we had dinner at The Conservatory. The customer service there was top-notch, and the food was exceptional. I tore a tendon in my rotator cuff because I lacked muscle. My physical therapist assigned…read moreexercises, but it seemed like I was prone to tearing other tendons if I didn't start building muscle. I chose Palo Alto Fit because of its location and one-on-one training rather than a group class at, let's say, 24H Fitness. Before coming here, I didn't know how to use any of the machines, how to target certain muscle groups, or how to set reasonable goals while keeping track of my progress. However, through each session, I've learned how to use these machines and set goals for the week (especially regarding diet and lifestyle choices) so when I go about my day to day or do workouts on my own, I know how to determine an appropriate goal, workout weight, or set up a machine properly for myself. I knew I needed someone to help me one-on-one to understand my areas of improvement, and when receiving help and support, I strongly value consistency in my mentor/coach/tutor, which it seems PAF also values. I've been able to reschedule sessions (even last minute) while keeping my same coach, which is another point of appreciation! PAF starts you off with a free fitness assessment where they take your in-body scan and you talk about your goals. Every 4 weeks, you do another scan, and it's been great seeing and physically feeling the results!! It's been about 6 months now, and I only go once a week due to finances and scheduling, but it's worth every penny and I genuinely look forward to my workouts with my coach. My coach, Coach Joshua Villagomez, is well-versed in physiology and genuinely listens to me during the workouts and when I say I want to focus on a specific thing for my body. He pushes me to grow stronger and beyond the limits of what I could have ever imagined myself doing, and seeing the progress in the results has been seriously worth it. I've completed physical therapy much quicker than anticipated, and I'm now able to do more than before in terms of shoulder mobility and usage. I'm extremely grateful to him! I know everyone says their coach is the best, but he's seriously THE BEST. One thing that really helped me personally for financing this fitness journey was the flexibility for packages. They asked for the payment for the 12-week package (chose this package based on my goals and schedule) upfront. I genuinely can't afford that, but Nina (the owner) was kind enough to make a custom package that was realistically payable for me. She didn't want to turn me away because at the end of the day, health is wealth, and she helped me make that a priority. I'm not quite a gym rat yet, maybe just gym gerbil, but I'm excited to continue my health journey with my coach and PAF! -- Other things to note: - lockers, showers, small microfiber towels provided - I've even borrowed workout gloves when I felt like my hands were hurting from lifting the bar (an unfamiliar thing for me) - everything is kept extremely clean; it even smells clean all the time - water fountain inside - very well temperature-controlled (it could be 10° or 100° outside, but the inside is a good room temp) and good air flow - high ceilings - natural light - parking is easy (lot behind the building, street parking, and city garage across the street)

His approach includes both old school and current techniques and training aids, and combines technical swing mechanics and subjective tools like visualization. In my case, I'm a senior, golfing since I was 10 years old, mostly self-taught, and with age have lost consistency and distance on my shots. My goal for golf is to improve or at least maintain my performance (I'm currently a 12 index), without trying to completely change my swing and without putting in hours of practice. I've had a few lessons with Jake and I've been able to improve my ball striking significantly by making some minor setup and swing adjustments he suggested and also by making some equipment changes; Jake identified that the lie angles on my irons were significantly wrong for my current swing and helped fit me for new irons that I hit much better from my first shot with them. I really like Jake's personal, informal approach. He's patient and emphasizes positive feedback to reinforce good outcomes during lessons so that I never feet pressured or discouraged during my lessons with him. If you want improve your golf game, or want to learn to play, I'm confident that Jake can help you. And, as I read in someone else's review, it's fun to watch him hit a golf ball when he demonstrates what he's teaching you!
