Over three years ago I wrote... "I knew I had found my new hairdresser and of course, with the salon being close to work, it made it so convenient for me." And then that dreadful day came when I received notification that they had moved to Vaughan!! Vaughan??!! So much for getting my hair done during my lunch hour AND... I live a good 40 minutes away from his new location! I really didn't want to spend over an hour (round trip) on the weekend to get my hair done. I was so sad. I clearly had to find a salon closer to my home. I looked and read reviews and decided on a place. What a mistake. Needless to say, it took a long time to grow that mess out and when I thought it had been long enough, I hightailed it back to Frank! Aydin gave me the best haircut I've had in years. This was my first time at Phases. I was very hesitant to change hair stylists since I have thick naturally wavy hair which might sound great to have but it's quite a nightmare to maintain. I do not spend much time doing my hair because even when I do, my hair just likes doing its own thing. I rely on the haircut to make my hair look great naturally and Aydin did it. Many times after going to the hairdressers, my hair looks good right up until I wash it and then the magic is gone. This time was different. I was attending a banquet hall event and needed an appointment at a trustworthy hair salon, so I did a bit of research online and found this place, which is quite close to my residence. I made an appointment a week in advance and they booked me right way. I received a confirmation voicemail a few days before my appointment, which was nice. I was greeted by the friendly staff when I arrived. I had a specific look on my mind and discussed it with Martin. What he did with the styling was fantastic. He also offered me a glass of wine, while I enjoyed myself getting dolled up. I was very happy with the results and spent just under $60 for the shampoo and style. Turned my mess into a masterpiece. Went into Phases for a hair emergency, I had went to another salon asking for a quick trim and a few layers. I ended up walking out with what looked like a mullet cut by a 3 year old, sadly I am not joking nor exaggerating. I called Phases as an emergency based on the amazing reviews and was not disappointed. Aydin took me under his wing and was able to take care of the disaster I walked in with. In fact, they pointed out my cut was so bad I had a whole in back of my hair. Needless to say, I am thrilled to say I'll be going back to Phases. Frank is a genius! I'm OCD when it comes to my hair and he is the only person I trust with it. He saved my hair after a disastrous haircut at another salon 2 years ago. Never looked to go anywhere else ever since. His personality and creative eye are not easily found in the industry. He is the layer King! I get stopped on a daily basis and asked about who does my layers. He is also the only person that has ever talked me into bangs :) I'm forever faithful to Phases. Also Aidan makes a mean cappuccino and the glossing treatment there is fantastic! My hair shines bright as a diamond for months after! Martin also does a fantastic cut and blow dry!! Unfortunately I cannot comment on the quality of their hair styling services HOWEVER I can comment on their HORRIFIC LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. I was a first time client, made an appointment by phone 2 days ago & showed up today on time for my 3pm appointment. When I introduced myself, the gentleman at the front desk commented "OH DIDN'T ANYONE CALL YOU, YOUR STYLIST IS NOT IN TODAY" HOWEVER I never received a phone call to advise this. His response was "OH, SORRY, THERE'S NO PHONE NUMBER ON YOUR FILE" Interesting as I distinctly remember giving them my phone number when I called to make my appointment. SO as I'm standing there flabbergasted at having come all this way to the Salon in the middle of my work day only to be told my stylist is away, the gentleman at the front desk just stood there looking at me shrugging. He NEVER offered me any alternatives!? No option to reschedule, no option to book me with a different stylist, at a different time or a different day. NOTHING. SILENCE. Horrific CUSTOMER SERVICE. An excellent salon. I have had the pleasure of getting my hair cut by both Aydin and Paiton. They are both extremely personable and talented hair stylists and they both made me feel instantly welcome and at ease. I was very pleasantly surprised by their rapid understanding of how I would like my hair cut and the impressive technical precision demonstrated by both of them in the execution of their craft. This place is so over charged. My bf goes there for haircuts once a month or something like that, they charge him $40+ without tips. I went there once too and after tip it was over $80. The haircut wasn't even good or anything close. I was very disappointed. read more

I have gone to Phases a few times and generally have been very happy. When I had one concern, it was handled very professionally. The last time I got my hair done there by Martin, it was amazing. I went in with dark hair and was trying to get it back to my natural lighter colour and he did such a great job with the highlights, it looks so natural. I have received lots of compliments! Biggest downside is that it is a very expensive salon but you're paying for good service at least. I'd highly recommend them. read more

Not even worth going. I went with my wife, thinking this is a good neighbourhood salon. We were wrong. Owner is really creeping and just all talk. I think he won 1 little award for some fantasy category a long time ago, and he pretends he knows everything. Gave my wife a haircut, and she was really pleased, she said student hairdressers could do a better job, was an uneven haircut. I person who cut and ruined my hair was an Italian guy who was 19 years old I think. I will never go back to this place. Total sham. read more

Aiden is the best colorist I have ever been too. He worked wonders on my black box dyed hair by giving it dimension and a beautiful golden brown color! I cannot wait to go back in a couple months and work more colors in order to achieve my lighter goal color :) read more

I did a lot of research on yelp and n49.ca as really wanted to find someone who is both creative and expert at hair cutting. After MUCH investigating, I went to Phases Hair Studio which is basically at Yonge and 401 and had my hair cut by Frank Tripodi. The many reviews on n49.ca attested to his expertise and great eye for which style suits someone. The bar was high - especially since I had been going to Parlour for years and prior to that Glo in Yorkville. Nevertheless, Frank was FABULOuS and is my new hair cutter! Starting with the consultation, he shared his honest thoughts on what he thought would be best while listening to me. During the cut he described what style he thought would be good in a couple of months when my hair was longer. And also how a slight change in the highlites I was getting would add a 'thicker look' to my hair which is somewhat fine. Throw in the fact that no one had ever taught me a very simple (and so effective) tip to using a flat-iron and the fact that he seems like a really down to earth guy with a friendly staff ... can't say enough. I take writing reviews seriously so try Phases with confidence! Oh yeah - there is free parking in front! read more

I started with Phases when it was still in Vaughan because Frank was only one of two stylists who used a rare, but incredible hair colour product that is used everywhere in Europe. When he discontinued use, I moved to the only other salon in Toronto that still used the product and while the colour was fabulous I missed Frank's incredible cuts. About a year ago my hair stylist at the second salon moved back to Europe and I decided to get a cut with Frank while continuing to get my colour at the other salon. It took one month for Frank and his team to convince me to let them do my colour and I can't tell you how glad I am that I did. My hair NEVER looks better than when it is cut by Frank and coloured by Martin. The look they give me is sophisticated and feminine and always elicits comments- sometimes from people I've never even met. The team at Phases is professional, kind and incredibly attentive. Yes, Frank does promote himself, but that's his business. The Phases team is the best I've come across while I've lived in Toronto. read more
