Phany was extremely nice. I showed up late for the appointment because of miscommunication and she was able to still fit me in and got my hair done in about 45mins. I found her instagram and every work looked amazing. I told her I wasn't sure about going light so quickly and she explained the process and recommended a medium caramel beige balayage. I've bleached my hair 10 years back and I didn't really like it but I went ahead and did it because she seems like she knew what she was doing. When she finished my hair, the front which looked amazing, but before leaving I noticed a very silverish blue tint around my back of my head. I immediately told by Phany and I was told that its the toner and will be normal after a few washes. After a few weeks, it seems like it was still silverish blue so I did myself a favor and went to buy purple shampoo. After a few months, it did wash off by my hair was brassy and brittle. My hair was extremely unhealthy and broke like hay. I tried leave in conditioner, hair mask, and oil but nothing worked. I finally went to my old hair stylist and she told whoever did it, left the bleach on too long and the only way to fix this is to cut off the bleached hair. Honestly Phany is literally the sweetest person EVER. She's absolutely beautiful and is so so so kind. BUT when it came to my hair, it wasn't great. I was so hesitant to do this review because Phany was so sweet throughout the whole process. I originally wanted a subtle gray balayage ombre tone to my hair but she wasn't able to do it in one session so I opted for a blonde balayage ombre instead. I live almost an hour away so I didn't think it was worth the drive to come back for extra sessions. After Phany was done with my friend's hair she went to the back to get more bleach for my hair. I asked her if she wanted to see a picture of what I wanted first and she said no. That should've been a red flag to me but I showed her anyways. I showed her two pictures, both with blonde ombre but one picture had some gray on the bottom. I asked if she was able to do that and she said she will try to do the gray on the bottom. It all went downhill when a customer came in early for her appointment. After she was done foiling and bleaching my hair, she went to wash, dry and curl my friends hair. Her hair is short at shoulder length which all consisted of ~20 to 25 minutes of finishing. Then she took off my foil. I thought there was more to it since she said she'll try to get my hair to be gray on the bottom. She ended up drying and curling my hair after and that was it. I looked in the mirror and saw only slight difference to my original hair color and really blonde bangs (think 90s hairstyle). She told me my hair will start fading and get lighter. I felt like she rushed my appointment for the customer that came in early. I also felt the same as one of the reviewer on here that it seemed like she just wanted me to come in for more sessions. I messaged her a couple days after my session and asked if I was supposed to be doing something to get my hair lighter and she said to wait a week. She's correct in saying it will get lighter because it did but not to the color I originally asked for. I believe if she kept my hair in bleach and foil for longer she might've been able to achieve the color I asked for. Again, she was so sweet but I won't be going back to her again. read more

Phany is the sweetest hair stylist I've ever met. I mistakenly thought my appointment for 3 people was at 2:30pm but it was a 2pm and she was still nice enough to take 2 people. Convenience is key! The salon is a good size. Parking is plentiful both in the lot or street parking. I found Phany through Instagram and I'm staying with her. I came in for a balagaye/ombre on Monday. She quickly ask me what I wanted and went to mix up the dye. She's really fast with her hands. We chit chat our way through and the process took about 2 hrs and I was on my way home. My hair looks great. Unfortunately I couldn't take a good picture of it though. I'll be coming back!! I came to Phany to color my hair after I found her on instagram. It was a 45min to 1 hour drive from me so I didnt really want to go all the way to Lowell. but after I saw photos of my friends' hair by her, My friend and I immediately made an appointment together. Phany is so sweet! My friend and I wanted ombre. Took about 3 hours to do ombre for both our hairs. (She went back and forth while our hair was processing) the results were amazing! Both of us loved it. Phany's pricing is very affordable. My hair is down to my belly button and she still charges the same rate as my friend's mid length hair. I feel bad because it feels like she charges too little for my hair!! Other salons would charge over $200-300 for my length and thickness of hair!! I went in for a cut and dye, liked my haircut, although it wasnt what I asked for (no big deal, because it came out nice) and I knew she would have trouble dying my stubborn black hair, but it did come out lighter w/ a few strands of purple. I came in because I wanted to get my hair balayaged to a gray/silver tone. She posts a lot of great photos of gray hair on Instagram so I made an appointment. I have naturally dark brown hair that gets bleached/highlighted every 5 months or so. At the time of my appointment, my highlights were light brown/dark blonde. She said that she'd be able to get me to a light gray but it'll take several appointments. For the time being, she'd bleach my hair and we'd be able to get a dark gray. I agreed. The appointment was quick- she had me out of the salon within an hour. For the first two days, my hair looked great. It was a dark smokey gray color that was unexpected but looked amazing. Then, I washed my hair. My hair felt like straw- brittle and drier than ever. I've had my hair lightened for 5-6 years now and this was by far the worst condition my hair has been in. After my hair dried, I noticed that there was no gray left in my hair. It completely washed out after 1 wash. I didn't know that she used a temporary color that'd wash out immediately. Even if she did and my blonde hair looked as good as she claimed it would be, then I wouldn't be half as mad. But I was left with brassy, heavily damaged hair with no gray. I went to another salon shortly after who said my hair was so damaged that we'd have to rehab my hair for several months before we try to color again. Do yourself a favor- find a better stylist. read more

I was really excited to come to Phany's because from the looks of her photos, her work looks amazing !! ESPECIALLY the color and tones of her work. I made an appointment and she fit me in for an early 8 am. I showed her a picture of what I was leaning towards and right off the back she seemed like she knew what she was going to do. She starts foiling my hair and makes a comment about how much hair i had then proceeded to dye my hair. Right when she finished bleaching, another customer comes in and she begins to work on her. After some time which didn't seem that long she brings me to the wash to rinse out the bottom half of my hair. I'm not sure why she did it so quickly, bc now that I look at it, it seems like nothing was done to my bottom layers. She lets the rest of my hair process then after goes to the other client. She comes back, mixes the toner and pours it in my hair, rubs it in and told me it's gonna take a few minutes for it to process. She was extremely nice but now that I look at my hair, I'm so disappointed and I feel like I just wasted 160 dollars for my hair to just look the same. The first pic is what I wanted and showed her, the second is what I received. Basically wasted money for my hair to look the same as it did before. I can't say anything bad! Where do I begin? I have course, curly, frizzy, dry hair. Every time I leave I have soft, smooth, moisturizer hair. I'm very protective and picky when it comes to my hair because I couldn't find anyone that knows how to really cut curly hair and the way I like but it ends up being cut wonderfully! The place is always clean and it's a cute setting. Affordable and pleasant place! She's very nice as well. I travel around an hour just to get my hair done and I'm never let down. I went to Phany a couple times the past years. The first time I got my hair dyed was with her, and I've heard that she was the best with balayage. After 2 hours I believe, the end results were very patchy. But I thought it looked fine it didn't bother me much. I didn't know that my hair wasn't supposed to be so brittle and brake easily because it was my first time getting my hair done. After talking to my nail tech who was also a hair tech (and reading these reviews). I realize that it's not supposed to be like that. I noticed that Phany's hair is a beautiful silver color and I wanted to try that on my self too. I booked my appointment and when I showed up she mentioned that it would take a couple of sessions to achieve the silver look and I was okay with that. I have gotten a balayage done by her about a month or two ago prior to obtaining the silver colors. End result of session 1 was blonde and little patches of silvery/purple. She mentioned that maintaining a silver color would be very hard and the purple tone would wash out. I've done research on maintaining silver hair and knew my consequences. After my second session, the silver hair was coming together really slowly. It was still very blonde and about half silver. I thought maybe after the 3rd session it will finally all come together. But after the 3rd session only the front of my hair was silver. The back middle part of my hair was still very blonde. I don't think I needed more than 3 sessions to get silver hair. I gave up after that and realized that's when I shouldn't go back to Phany again. My hair was so damaged that it would stand up on its own. I am still in the process of growing my hair out to get rid of the damage she had done to my hair and it's been over a year and a half. I still refuse to put my hair down. In my opinion. She cares more for her own hair instead of her clients. Her hair is a perfect silver no purple tone, no blue tone, and no blonde patches. But after my 3 sessions I still had blonde patches. I feel like she just rushes it and wants to book another appoint and charge $150 every time. read more

I feel a little conflicted writing this review as Phany was so sweet. I first got my hair done by Phany about a year ago. I got a cut and a balayage: all of which probably took 1.5 hours. I wasn't 100% happy with the look, especially the cut as it looked rather choppy but I'm also not too particular about my hair. I asked for layers but because she didn't use thinning scissors, it didn't come out well. As for the balayage, she missed strands of my hair but I thought that maybe it was just a style. I didn't do my research in advance so I wasn't aware that it was cash only. I told her to take my ID while I run to the convenient store to take out money and she was trusting and understanding. Fast forward a year later, I reached out again to book an appointment. No answer. I waited a few days thinking maybe she's just busy. I waited a few more days. Still no answer so I decided I'd check her IG - maybe she doesn't have a salon anymore? Maybe she moved? Who knows. Upon checking, I saw that she had posted numerous pictures after I requested an appointment and I also verified that the number had not changed. I decided to reach out again a few weeks ago, hoping that maybe she just forgot to answer me the first time around. Again, no answer but she continued to post on IG. I gave up and decided to get my hair done elsewhere. When my stylist saw my hair, she said she'd never seen a balayage style like this before. She asked me how my hair was done and said it was not conventional. In short, I was willing and WANTED to go back to Phany but because of the lack of response, and the 'just okay' results, I won't be returning. Customers shouldn't have to feel like they're being ignored and that's exactly what she did. read more

I was very hesitant to do this but my last hair cut was very sloppy. I book a week and a half in advance only to get this kinda cut.. the first thing I said after my hair cut was that the left side was longer than that other side and Phany's fix it.. ( that's what I thought ) I went home and still felt some part were longer than others. Not to mention zig zag. It was a mess. And no not because I part my hair to the side etc. I went to a different salon to have the lady fix it for me and the difference I see in my cut! I went to her bc I heard she was the queen of ombre but she did not deliver the color I want and I felt like she purposely did it so that I could come back a second round. My go to makeup artist. I routinely have Phany do my makeup for special occasions. She's very fast and knows what I want. Lashes and makeup takes her about 30 minutes. Price isn't bad $35 with lashes compared to other places that charge $50 just for makeup. read more
