Gerald from RB Fence came to look at the job and provide an estimate. His quote was very detailed, much more so than any of the others we received, and it was the only quote to include a Split Invoice Addendum form for dividing the cost with our neighbor, enabling us each to pay separately and having the amount of each share clearly documented. (This was particularly important because we agreed on an uneven split.) RB Fence was the only quote that came this way, and it really was a selling point, because it made things easier for us. On the day the work was to be done, the crew arrived on time and immediately got to work. We were surprised by how quickly they got the old fence down and the new one up. Gerald came by partly through the job to make sure we didn't have any questions and things were on track. I appreciated that he took responsibility in that way. California Fences (CA License #1099301) caused documented property damage to my private patio at…read more1900 Lynwood Dr Unit C in Pleasanton during a fence replacement project inside our HOA community. During removal of a fence post, their crew broke multiple patio pavers, displaced perimeter bricks, and exposed concrete footing. This patio was professionally installed and represented a significant investment. Photographic and video evidence of the damage has been preserved. The on-site supervisor stated there was "no way" to remove the post without causing damage. That statement is inaccurate. This is the second time fencing has been replaced at this property, and prior licensed contractors performed the same work without damaging the finished patio surface. Since the incident, I have: * Contacted the project supervisor multiple times * Left voicemail messages * Contacted the office directly * Attempted to reach ownership No response has been provided. As a licensed California contractor performing work within an HOA community, California Fences is responsible for property damage caused during the course of work. I have formally requested their General Liability insurance information and written confirmation of repair. I prefer resolution over escalation. However, continued non-response will leave me no option but to proceed through formal channels including CSLB complaint and civil recovery. I am requesting immediate contact to resolve this matter professionally.

One was a secured fenced area, and the other was a large partition fence to separate a vendor's operation from our warehouse space. After carefully reviewing measurements and project requirements, they completed both installations efficiently and flawlessly. The finished product looked fantastic. Shortly after completion, the vendor's director flew in to inspect the project and discovered that his team had provided Freedom Fence with incorrect information regarding the area that needed to be enclosed. Despite the mistake having nothing to do with Freedom Fence, they immediately stepped up. The same day they learned of the issue, their team was back on-site working on a solution. They even worked through the weekend to relocate the fence and ensure the project stayed on track. That level of customer service is incredibly rare today. I'm very disappointed with my experience with Mario/Rodriguez Maintenance & Landscaping. I hired…read moreMario to do fence work at my home, including moving the fence and gate area back from my driveway. Since the work was completed, the fence has never been the same. The biggest issue throughout this entire process was reliability and communication. Mario would give me specific dates and times that he was supposed to come to my house, and then he simply would not show up. This happened multiple times. After the work was completed, I reached out several times because there were issues that needed to be fixed. Every time, Mario would say he was coming back, but he never followed through. The quality of the work itself was also disappointing. There are visible gaps along the bottom of the fence, parts of the fence are uneven and not level, and some of the boards have spaces where you can clearly see through them. The fence along the driveway also does not match the rest of the fence we paid for. In addition, there are holes drilled into our concrete where the fence latches are supposed to lock into place, but one of the holes was drilled incorrectly and the latch does not properly secure. When we originally received the quote for the backyard fence, the driveway fence, and moving the gate back, Mario told us that his work was guaranteed for one year. Unfortunately, when we actually needed him to come back and address the issues, he did not stand behind that guarantee. I also want to clarify that Mario did not personally complete the work himself. In the beginning, two workers came to our house to start the project. I overheard them talking about how there should have been more workers assigned to the job, and they were discussing how much Mario was going to pay them. The next day, only one worker returned. It then took at least another two weeks before Mario finally brought two additional workers back because the project was taking much longer than originally quoted. I understand that projects can sometimes take longer than expected, and honestly that was not even my biggest concern. The real issue was the lack of communication and professionalism. Mario would disappear for periods of time, claim his phone was disconnected, and contact us from random phone numbers. We were constantly left wondering whether anyone was actually coming back to finish the work. Most recently, my fiancé reached out to him again regarding the problems with the fence. Mario said he would come on Sunday, so we rearranged things at our home and waited for him while dealing with other construction projects. He never showed up. Later that evening, around 5 or 6 PM, he sent a text saying he could not make it. At that point, it felt like the exact same pattern all over again. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating. We trusted Mario based on his promises and the one-year guarantee he provided, but when problems came up, he never properly followed through. The communication was poor, the workmanship was disappointing, and the issues were never corrected. Unfortunately, I would not recommend hiring him. ***UPDATE*** Mario, I was understanding about your personal situation and never expected you to "jump" when I texted. The issue was the repeated promises to come fix the fence and then not showing up or following through over a long period of time. Communication absolutely does matter when customers are trying to resolve problems with paid work that was advertised as guaranteed for a year. Also, calling it a "discount" does not excuse the quality of the work. I paid for a fence that was supposed to be done properly and guaranteed for one year. A lower price should not mean lower workmanship or ignored repairs. I wish you and your family well, but my review reflects my actual experience.

Manny installed 200 linear ft. of fencing + gate almost a year ago (mea culpa for not doing this…read moresooner, Manny!). We got a design photo off the web and his estimate was more than fair. He and his helpers did the job in a few days, working really hard. We had a gate that our regular handyman had previously built. Manny threw in, for free, replacing the short extension wall and designing a new, sturdier gate that would match the fence. The good side of procrastination is that photos show how the fence has aged (beautifully, we think). We decided to stain it, but our neighbor opted out of staining - thus, the photos show how it looks on both sides. Staining was a very modest additional cost, although it does need to be renewed periodically. Because we live on a hill, the bottom boards needed to be sturdy and insect-proof. We are extremely pleased with the results and have received many compliments on the design. Would absolutely recommend using Manny's services for any fencing needs a homeowner might have!
