My guy came home downright cheerful the last time, which has never, ever happened before (it was just a cleaning/checkup, so that probably helped a bit ;)). The receptionist is great--knowledgeable and thoughtful when helping you to book. The chairs are comfortable and the space is immaculate. Diana is a skilled hygienist who is very informative and takes obvious care to ensure your comfort. Dr. Lai is very professional and competent. He will create a program for anyone who needs a lot of work done (my husband is one such patient) and provides recommendations for treatment, including taking your budget (benefits or lack thereof) into account by prioritizing and offering options according to efficacy and cost. Most importantly, he is very efficient and does not dawdle once he's in there! Dr. Lai is so excellent at what he does that, although my husband would basically rather set himself on fire than go to the dentist, he actually says that he likes Dr. Lai. He has a lot of work that needs to be done on some severe issues, but Dr. Lai has never blamed or shamed him, just showed that he wants to help to improve things. The whole team is really great that way; they are on your side. As a bonus, you can book with them online as well, they are open late 2 days a week to accommodate just about any schedule, and they can direct bill insurance.

The last time I went I knew there was something wrong with the filling that Dr. Lai had done. He takes a quick look at it and says it looks good. As the hygienist is flossing my teeth before the end of my appointment she is the first person to notice that the filling is cracked! Great... because I love having fillings done more than once. The fact that he didn't notice my filling was cracked or even really tried to figure out what was wrong is why I've had to switch dental offices.

They have bottled water and coffee and they make you feel very at home. Both of my girls that are four and eight absolutely love going to the dentist. They have cool prizes they give to them after. There have been times I came for a check up and I had a few issues and instead of waiting weeks to come back for a cavity the dentists made room and time to do it immediately . I was impressed ! Dealing with them and my Insurrance is easy and pain free . The dentists and other staff are all friendly and happy ! They even treat kids and teenagers differently ! I have been going to Petrolia Dental for two years now, and am still somewhat undecided as to how I feel about them. First off, I love how easy it is to schedule appointments at the office. My previous dentist required booking at least eight months ahead of time for cleanings and it was such a headache when you got within a month of your appointment only to find out you had a scheduling conflict. My first check-up last year went well, and I felt comfortable returning to the office for a couple of fillings. I felt like the staff was friendly and competent and that the office was clean and welcoming. My second visit earlier this year was less than stellar. My cleaning was very pleasant, but the dentist was running behind and I had to sit and chat with my hygenist for 45 minutes while waiting for my check-up. When Dr. Varughese finally got to see me, she was very agitated at how behind she was, and spent exactly two minutes on my mouth (there was a clock behind her on the wall). She told me I needed fillings and started to leave, and I had to ask her to stay to explain to me where the fillings were, and how many were needed. It was kind of a burn to pay for a check-up and feel like I was barely looked at. The fillings went ok. Afterwards I had a massive headache and the next morning my gums were bruised black and purple where they had done the filling. It was nearly a week before the swelling and bruising went down enough for me to close my mouth and chew. I don't know if this is "normal" for my mouth, but it certainly was unpleasant. I am willing to return to Petrolia for my next check-up and cleaning, but if I don't feel my mouth is getting the best quality of care, I will be looking for a new dentist.
