I had a formal dress that needed to be altered. There was a very high split I needed to have closed to the knee along with a hem. I brought my dress in, and she was helpful to get it measured hemmed up. I gave her a week and a half to get the dress ready. I picked up the dress on a Friday for an event on Saturday evening. She charged me 95.00 for the hem and the split because she stated it was "double-lined". I accepted the high charge and brought the dress home. When I went to put the dress on the following evening I couldn't believe that the dress was not only wrinkled and had never been pressed out, it was completely puckered where this split had been sewn together. Unfortunately, it was nothing i could hide, nor could I fix it in such a short amount of time. It was a big disappointment to know you pay that much money and the alterations are unprofessional and you end up having to iron your own dress. I do not recommend them unless you're aware of these conditions. I guess a simple hem on a pant is probably the best thing they can do. read more

I don't have to get things tailored very often, but everyone's body is different and we all have unique physical characteristics that call for slight alterations to our wardrobe. I've been coming here for about year (typically to get pants hemmed for my shorter-than-average legs!) The owner, Ms. Pham, does a phenomenal job. The price range is average, considering the location. Expect to pay between $12 - $18 for pants to be hemmed. Skirts, on the other hand, have ranged between $20 - $60 in my experience. While not the most talkative tailor, she understands what you want/need with minimal explanation and has delivered every time. The quality of stitching is above average and has proven to last. The pants I got hemmed around this time last year look the same as the day I picked them up, with no frays or signs of coming apart. I had a big shoot and needed a jacket altered! The lady was rude but was "nice" enough to squeeze me in. I picked up the jacket and I don't think she actually did anything. The sleeves I needed done were still the same length and still looked in it's original condition. It was a lot of money for my time to waste when nothing was actually done. Do not go here. read more

I was on a mission. I had only two days to have a bridesmaid dress altered from a size 8 down to a size 2. Most places I looked into were quoting, over the phone, 1.5 to 2 weeks And the average cost was guess-timated at around $60, to start. I called Pham Tailor and spoke with the seamstress. At that point, my goal was to just get it fixed by the two days. I knew it was going to cost a lot due to the short notice. She told me to come down. I entered the modest store, squinted my eyes to look through a rack of clothing orders to find a woman on a sewing machine. She didn't immediately acknowledge me. When she did get up, she continuously talked on her blue-tooth, pointed me to the fitting room to try my dress on, then had me stand in front of the mirror to pin. No less than a minute later, she patted me on the shoulder to remove the dress as she continued with her conversation. I became nervous thinking that she didn't measure properly, or re-measure, as she was pinning. But I was desperate, so I went with it. I apparently interrupted her conversation when I asked for the cost. Without much thought, she said $33. I was excited that it wasn't $60. Enter two days later... I arrived at the shop and deja vu. I squinted through the clothes rack to get the seamstress' attention. She got up, handed me the dress, then continued to talk on her blue tooth. She then walked back to her machine. I tried on the dress and it was a perfect fit. No visible signs that the dress had been altered at the seams. It was a strapless dress that needed to fit perfectly at the chest because there was boning in the breast area. She did a great job. Never getting off the phone, she rang me up, and walked away like a boss. If you can overlook the customer service skills, are in need of quick, professional work, and want to pay a reasonable price, Pham tailoring is the place for you. Customer Service Review I always go to the Starbucks right next to Pham Tailor and wondered why I never saw anyone inside. Now I understand why... I was holding my nephew while my sister in law was putting her clothes on to get altered. The owner knew that the baby was my sister in law's. Trying to figure out how I was related, she asked me if I was his GRANDMOTHER. My jaw dropped and there was an awkward long pause. The owner then points to my sister in law and says that she looks 15 years old. So, not only does the owner think I am more than twice my age, she thought I was older than her (47years old), but that I am also a horrible mother for allowing my "daughter" to get pregnant at age 13. Way to fucking make your clients happy and feel welcome! I don't know how good her work is and I never will. read more

My husband brought in a shirt and needed the sleeves shortened. She cut them too short and my husband can't wear the shirt. We did not take the shirt back and I should of just left it at that. I brought in a Red Dress and 2 pairs of expensive pairs of pants to be hemmed. When I picked them up a week later I found that my NYDJ had been replaced with a cheap pair. She checked the whole store for my pants and was unable to find them. She told me she might of given them to another customer and for me to call back on Saturday to see if she got them back. This still isn't over and it will cost her 120 dollars to replace those pants. She couldn't find my pants but she did make it right by paying me for my pants. read more

**This is for a wedding dress alteration** I think this is a decent place to go for small work such as hemming pants but bigger or more complicated work, perhaps no. To start, I was happy enough with my first visit (see original review) that I took the plunge with having my wedding dress altered there. The work needed: 1. Hem bottom 2. Sides taken in 3. Neckline taken in 4. Add bustles Total visits for this alteration: 4 times. Time from start to finish: 2 months exact My experience and suggestions: * She gets extremely busy and turn-around time can be slow. Many people who stopped by were told to 'come back' in a few days because their items were not ready. I typically give her at least one week longer than the date she says will be ready, however, even so, she still tells me to come a few days later (later!). So, yes, she holds on to the item(s) and works on it/them at the last minute. I only suspect. She did pull some of my dress fabric out of the trash when I asked for a piece to keep as a swatch. So if it's urgent, tell her it's urgent! * Confirm pricing - ask her to write down on the tag exactly what she is quoting/charging you for. When it was time to pay, pricing came out $50 more. When questioned, she said she originally didn't quote the fixing of the neckline. Not true. * Details. Tell her exactly what you want and expect. But this is where the 'complicated' work comes in. There were a couple of wedding dresses that were brought in by other customers. I saw one that was pretty basic - spaghetti strap and lacey - beach wedding dress. I don't think my dress was too complicated: plain fit and flare, taffeta material with ruching, no beadings, no lace. Chapel train. The sides were taken in wonderfully. Bottom was hemmed ok. Neckline still a bit big. Only thing that really disappointed me was the bustling. I don't think she's experienced in this because after my 3rd visit, the bustles were not put in. When I mentioned, she said that she doesn't know 'how' to put in the bustle because my dress 'doesn't give much room for bustling.' My dress has a chapel train, but because I'm so petite, it looks a bit longer. It's certainly do-able. Stressed, I suggested her to put ribbons underneath the dress. I went back a week later and a total of three ribbons were put in: one on the back center and the other two on each side of the dress. When I tried the dress on with the bustles, the back corners of the train still dragged on the floor. She advised that she couldn't do much with it so I pretty much left it at that. So...I guess I'll have to take my dress to bustle somewhere else. Overall, after close to $300, I wasn't too thrilled with this experience. read more

*Very disappointed with the end product, poor customer service, and had to take dresses to the dry cleaners after due to a stain. Don't bring her bridesmaid dresses.* I came in to get my bridesmaid dress altered (needed the sides taken in, bust altered, and straps added). I gave the seamstress amble time with three weeks. The wedding was on a Saturday and she told me the earliest she could finish it was the Wednesday before. This worried me but I figured that was enough time to fix any mistakes if needed. A week later, my friend brought in her matching bridesmaid dress to be hemmed and let out in the waist. I came in with her and the seamstress now told us she wouldn't have our dresses done until Thursday NIGHT (still two weeks out). When I came to pick up the dresses, mine fit fine, but the straps were in the wrong place, and the seamstress told me they couldn't be changed, with no apology or explanation. She had also forgotten to take the waist out of my friends dress, but there was no time to fix it. There was also a VERY noticeable stain on the backside of my dress, it looked as though she had pricked her finger then touched the dress with the blood. When I asked about it she she said she didn't know what it was, and that I must have brought it in like that. She then tried to remove it waits a Tide pen and that didn't work so she told me to try soap and water(on a taffeta bridesmaid dress). I then noticed there was a matching stain on the other dress and multipolar "spots" on mine. With no other option, I went to pay and I was shocked my the price, $120 for both, and no breakdown or explanation. After leaving I ended up having to take the dresses for a rushed dry cleaning the DAY BEFORE the wedding, which cost another $60. Needless to say I was very disappointed by the work, her customer service, and lack of urgency with the whole project. I will not be returning. read more

I came into this shop desperate for my bridesmaids dress to be altered in a timely fashion. The woman who I believe is the owner is by far one of the most hard working people I've ever met. She takes her work very seriously and its apparent that she does most of the work herself. I had less than 6 weeks to get this dress taken in...not only did she finish it 2.5 weeks SOONER than she quoted me, it fit like a glove. Everything was done so well.
