Yes, there's a limited selection, but the staff will do what they can to help; there's also a pretty awesome meat counter and bakery, and greenhouse/landscaping supplies. This is always the first place I go when venturing out in Putnam County-have to support the local business if you want it there. The quality of their meet and baked goods is top notch and all the high school kids that work there are usually pretty helpful too.

The owner drove straight up to his store and let me in to shop for things I needed for the holiday dinner. He went out of his way letting me go in after closing time. I paid him back making him homemade cherry cheesecake. Downtown market is the greatest store around Lakeview Oh, I go there everyday.................................

I don't expect every grocery to be like Remke's here in Florence when I'm out of town. That's a near impossible standard to live up to, and you'd have to do everything right all the time. And this Save-A-Lot is not perfect. Not horrible, but not close to perfection, either. What would I change about it? Well, it's not exactly organized chaos. It's more like...general, disorganized chaos. Part of this may have been just me adjusting to a new store, but part of it is that things I expected to see in one place, weren't there but were in a totally different place. Really? My daughter went in and just bought a pre made cake instead. When we cut it up to serve it, we found pieces of sliced up plastic inside it. We couldn't serve a single piece for fear of someone getting injured ! We called to let the bakery know what had happened, but we were transferred to a supervisor named Tommy, who got angry with us and began to cuss at us. Needless to say, we will NEVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING FROM MEIJER AGAIN!. I am just thankful that we found the sharp plastic pieces before any one swallowed them.
