Post business meeting late lunch (normal for Spain) in Madrid. The locals here love meat, all types of meat, cheese and red wines, which suited our carnivore sides perfectly.
Spaniards like their meat black and blue, and we were agreeable. While the meat quality was good, the temperature probably made them slightly tougher than our Angus beef. The Spanish beef was definitely raised conscientiously and was of a very high quality.
The top quality iberico ham was also highly umami and rich.
Between the wonderful cheeses, iberico ham, rich beef and gallons of fragrant Spanish olive oil, I can only thank Goodness for the many bottles of riojas we poured, I could almost feel my arteries harden with each mouthful.
Everything was wonderful and lunch took almost 3 hours. Europeans, you have to emulate any society that can balance work-life in that manner and still get a little work done. read more
