Caught fish on every trip on the lake! Crappie, Bluegill, Perch and Bass is what we fish for. The cabins/homes are very clean, and Donna and Andy are extremely friendly and attentive to whatever we needed. Real nice sand beach swimming area. Free WiFi in the cabins/homes. Had canoes, paddle boat and kayaks for use. Cute little activity room available with a foosball table and some pinball machines. We'd recommend you check them out! It was our first trip there and have already booked for 2020!

Notified desk. No alternative room offered. On two consecutive days, two different maintenance staff unable to repair; needed replacement, none available. Was working with a local realtor one morning at this unit's kitchen table when a person without knocking ENTERED ROOM, then, quickly left without a word. Numerous front desk visits and two phone calls by me after checkout over a two week period, found General Manager, Mr. B..., unavailable. On 9/4/2025, I received a return phone call from General Manager. Was told he and an Asst. Manager found lock on door of said unit operable and working. During my four night stay in the one bedroom unit nearing $400 per night for room and attached room fees with an inoperable interior security door lock, I was credited $25 per night ($100 total). I expressed compensation was inadequate. General Manager said he would look at interior lock again. If still inoperable, he would reconsider additional compensation. I requested a call back on his findings. Will add to this post at that time. (Note: This was my third stay at this resort over a fourteen month period.)

The owners were also very personable and helpful with resort information as well as area information. Would definitely return to this resort.

The cabin was very clean and nicely accented with Northwoods touches. There was a guide book in the cabin that explained everything you could imagine doing in the area - a great resource! Each cabin has their own dock and campfire pit complete with comfortable adirondack chairs and free firewood. There is plenty of yard space for activities, and each cabin has a picnic table and charcoal grill. We were able to spend time on the water using the kayaks, canoes, and rowboats that are available at the resort. The resort is located close to town - just a few miles from Manitowish Waters. The resort has a variety of bikes available to guests, so we grabbed some one morning and biked into town to enjoy coffee at the local coffee shop. Manitowish Waters also has a grocery store and lots of great restaurants. The area is also known for its bike trails - there is a scenic, winding (and paved!) bike trail that runs through Manitowish Waters that you can take to the nearby town of Boulder Junction and beyond. Our experience was superb! The cabin is a great value for the location and quality. Would highly recommend as an awesome place to bring your whole family to make great memories. So many activities and fun things to do! We are already planning our return visit. Make your reservations early because they do book up quickly.

My two small children (2 and 4) enjoyed hunting for gnomes, playing on the playground, and swimming on the "lily pad" mats. The grown ups enjoyed the peaceful days, the wonderful swing at the top of the hill overlooking the water, and watching other guests arrive with their daily catch of fish. Hosts Travis and Amanda provided enough opportunities to create new friendships through rock painting, movie night, potluck, s'mores roast, and fishing derby. We felt comfortable joining in or opting to relax on our own. They were very accommodating and just a phone call/text away if we needed anything. I gave the resort 4 stars because there is some room for improvement on the resort. Repairing the swing set (broken monkey bars, adding fresh sand to the sandbox), making sure the paddle boat and beach chairs are in good shape would be a few of the things I would like to see. I know there is a staffing shortage at many places right now, so t's understandable.

The view of the storage or tool shed is off putting but the shed is disclosed in the write up. The cottage needs a makeover. Rotted wood on the outside and a paint job is needed. The cottage smells musty, the furniture is too big for the size of the living room (keep the futon. Lose the recliner) the refrigerator should at least be painted so all the dings and scratches don't show. Add a cutting board. Fix the drawers so they don't almost fall out when opened. The dish towel is old and discolored and only one. The sheets for the sagging bed are both low end. Get a good quality mattress and sheets forcrying out loud. There is no bedding for the futon. Nor does someone from out of state need to bring such items. Maybe put a screen around the water heater. Make the vent pipe above the water heater more attractive by painting (maybe decal with moose or fish) and cover the end with exposed insulation. Repair the wood rot by shower. Replace sagging ceiling in bedroom.

You ride from your front door to anywhere you like in the area, no trailering. On our last trip we brought a side x side and all the great trails permitted our lager machine. All of the meals we ate out we did by riding our machines to and Ann supplied us with maps so we knew where we were going. The trail system has so many local and long distant places to go to it's good for beginners as well as veterans. Last thing that we've always enjoyed is the other guests. It was such a fun, unique and refreshing trip to take in the winter. It truly seemed like we were in a real life snowglobe. The resort itself seemed to be about 13 cabins. We were in one that comfortably slept 6 grown adults. We also were able to bring our little pug up with us (For a small additionally fee). The family that runs the resort is as sweet as can be. Very hospitable & has a great resort dog that we saw running around during our time there. The snow had fallen fresh, making it a bit difficult to get out of the drive way but it was plowed in record time. I would of loved to enjoy the back deck of the cabin more (that had an awesome hanging bed!) or been able to have my dog use the dog park - but sadly he was sinking in the snow. The cabin came pretty fully stocked in the kitchen - which was helpful for the meals we were planning. The bathroom/shower was great and had plenty of hot water. Fire wood was abundant for the fireplace within the cabin. And the lake was great to see all snow covered. I hope I get the chance to enjoy this part of the Northwoods in the summer!

Black's Cliff Resort is by far the gem amongst the many other good options. I have to give the credit to my girlfriend who found the place, and also the time of year, first week of June, it was so quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the Birchwood cabin, right next door to the resort keepers place, home to the resort dog a regal golden retriever who seems to be doing very well in his professional role. The cabin was amazing, with a fireplace inside, stocked with local firewood, and a backyard fire pit. A breezeway overlooking the lake with a bed hanging from the ceiling was the perfect spot for a Sunday afternoon snooze after the drive up from Chicago. Later in the evening, after dinner, I noticed the light fading and wandered down the stairs to one of the most thrilling sunsets I have witnessed. And I was the solo witness because not a soul was stirring on that lake in early June, and evening chill negated my girlfriends interest in the natural beauty. That night, on the soft bed, I had the best night's sleep in at least a year.
