Would give it 0 stars, but there isn't an option. I purchased a ford fiesta from them last year…read more A few months after purchasing the car, it broke down, when I had it checked at my local garage they uncovered over £2,000 of damage, and had been in a previous accident, which meant it had to be written off. I was not told this by the horrible salesman called Steve at PMC cars in Writtle Road Chelmsford. He's pushy, tells lies, tries to make out he's on your side, and tells you that the AA warranty which was provided with the car will provide "peace of mind" when actually its absolute rubbish, the garage behind the dealership doesn't even deal with AA warranty claims. I also spoke to AA directly who suggested that the warranty had a number of "grey areas" in other words its not worth the paper its written on, hence why its provided for free. You have no come back after purchasing a car from them, the after support is non existent. I beg you to not purchase a car from this dealership, they are an absolute disgrace of a company selling terrible cars which have inaccurate descriptions about their conditions. If you want a reasonable priced car then go elsewhere. Just a side note, as someone as already suggested, they trade under various names including: PMC cars/ Paul Morris Motors Nook service cars/ Nook service station Moulsham Motor company You must take my word for it, DO NOT buy a car from them!!!! If you do, then sorry to say but more fool you.
I thought I would reply to the owner's message from Google (Paul Morris Motors Chelmsford Dealership) considering its riddled with a lot of false claims
1) You suggest that PMC cars has been in the industry for "70 years", now I don't believe this is credible. If you suggest that Nook cars and Moulsham Motor company are the same, then why do you suggest on your website that you have been running for 35 years for both dealerships? Nowhere does it state on either website that you have been running for over 70 years, and its not believable because you suggest both dealerships run under the Paul Morris Motors name which your website says was established 35 years ago. This is incredibly misleading for anyone looking to purchase a car from you when you're providing false, inaccurate information.
Iv'e had a look on various websites including companies house and I can't find you under any of the names you're registered as, could you please provide me with your company number so I can confirm when you were actually established? I reckon you suggest this lie so that you can build trust with buyers. Where's the transparency?
2) You suggest that all your cars are hpi checked, however this doesn't mean that customers can be reassured that you're not lying . A car that has been in an accident wouldn't necessarily come up on the hpi check unless the accident was reported. Unfortunate for me, the other two garages where the car was looked at, had informed me that the car looked as if it had been in an accident, with the front being bodged up with some cable tie to hold the bodywork in place, something which Steve didn't tell me before I purchased the car, and something which was not stated in the description. I also have photos to prove this. But I guess your response would be "perhaps you done it" well if I had, I wouldn't be complaining on here.
3) "With over 30 years in the industry" Now I've heard that a lot from many car salesmen, so beware anyone who hears this because its likely to be false. Steve is a very loud character who is pushy and who does try to make out he's on your side when he's not. All I can say to anyone is see for yourself when you pop down to the dealership in Writtle road in Chelmsford, prepare though for him to jump on you as soon as you set foot on the forecourt.
4) "We provide our own warranty by law" Now this is complete rubbish. The only warranty I was provided with was 6 months free from the AA. Nowhere did you state that you would provide me with your own warranty, and I'm not sure how it works when you suggest that the garage is run independently. Steve will always suggest that the warranty offered will provide "peace of mind" however the Terms and Conditions are written in a way so that the AA can get out of paying anything for the repair.
5) You say that the garage are 'independent' why is it then that on your website you advertise the garage as part of the dealership (can be seen within the advertised video). The name "nook service station" is what you also refer the dealership to as well as the garage. You even have a banner above the dealership which says "Nook service Station" with a sign that says "The Nook Service Station. MOT Testing, Service and Repairs, Car sales" The colour scheme, brand name etc are all the same. This is false advertising, and is incredibly misleading to potential customers who would think that the garage is part of the dealership
