Bought an auto feeder online and…read morewhen it arrived we tested it (out of the tank and over paper) to ensure we wouldn't be over feeding the fish, however despite following the instructions, the difference between two particular settings was huge which led us to believe it wasn't working properly or wasn't fit for purpose as none of the settings were in any way useable. I took it into the store today to return and was greeted by the most patronising and unhelpful man. When I explained the issue, he decided he would show me how to change the settings, I explained I already had done all of that and calmly explained the issue again. He then proceeded to continually tell me it couldn't be returned as we'd tested it (not sure how anybody would go about setting up an auto feeder without testing it). He then said it couldn't be returned because Juwel wouldn't give them any money back if it was ok. I explained again that I don't think it's fit for purpose and asked if we could test it there and then so he could see what I was talking about, to which he said no and continued to tell me he couldn't help/it couldn't be returned and he didn't know what else to say. Admittedly I did ring my husband at this point and was so angry at being patronised and the absolute unhelpfuness and attitude of the gentleman that I did swear to my husband whilst on the phone. The gentleman then told me I can't speak to him like that (he could clearly see I was on the phone and not directing my conversation at him) by this point I gave up and left the store. I totally understand that there are certain policies in place but he refused to even test the feeder to check if it was working as they 'have sold hundreds and never had a problem'. The complete lack of customer care is appalling and throws into question whether or not they are following any distance selling regulations at all given I was not allowed to return an item I feel is not working as it should!

We've all seen those adverts that try and make us feel guilty about not giving out pets enough toys…read moreor gourmet food. Well, they work. Gosh darn it. Yes, we're a nation of pet spoilers and no doubt there lurks many an obese cat or behaviourally dubious dog in many a semi-detached house, but at least these fellows are making a bit of money out of it. It's the place to find all those bits and bobs you can't get in supermarkets, but what really shines in Pets at Home is the availability of small pets. Empty your mind of all those sinister pet shops with poor, suffocated hamsters squeezing against one another and pressing their little paws up against the glass, longing for respite. At Pets at Home, wellbeing is the operative word. Little rodents can be bought here, as well as fishies, hutches for the bunnies, gifts, food, wholesome treats, reptile food (it remains to be seen whether there's a crossover here with the rodents for sale...), stuff to keep the wildlife happy in your garden and even every product you need to help raise your own chickens. My own chickens. I will do this one day, simply because every chicken owner I've met has testified as to the quality of the eggs. If you're paying a visit to the Trafford Centre and love your pets, definitely pop in here. It's a trip out as well as supply gathering.

Kittens, puppies, loads of Parrots, Monkeys, the usual rodents, CROCODILES!!, Fish, corral, Spiders, lizards, snakes, tortoises, turtles.... It's literally like a mini zoo in there and as if they couldn't make it any more exciting they've kitted the shop out to look like a Tahiti hut!!! I can't comment on the staff as I never spoke to any of them, but they didn't stare and I didn't feel like I had to buy anything. Why not a 5 star? I was really disappointed to see on entrance to the shop a giant tortoise that in the tiniest pen. It was bashing it's head against the side of it's pen and looked distressed when as we passed... I overheard one of the shop keepers say that the tortoise was banging it's head to get food... but i'm not too sure... Overall though I have to say this was one of the best stocked pet shops I've ever seen! All the animals cages looked clean as well and there weren't any nasty smells. I recommend going there if you are looking to buy your next pet or like me you just like to go and see all the crazy animals!! Come on! You know you want to go just to see the CROCODILE!!

She videotaped her axolotls attacking each other instead of stopping it. Said she can't afford tubs for them to separate them, but says she's "experienced" she goes off when I said I thought she was new at this because all Axolotl breeders plan out their spacing ahead of time. Can't take criticism if you look at the reviews on google she tells them they're wrong. Obviously not a people person and can't talk to clients respectfully.

The store is only small but carries a massive range of livestock and sundries, all available space is used to it's maximum capacity, so it's probably not the best place for a person who is scared of snakes to be! They have your usual corns and pythons, but they also stock more unusual animals and have a large range of tarantulas and scorpions too. Couple with the friendly and very helpful staff, this is definitely one of the best reptile stores you could hope to visit.

Oh yes, this is the only pet shop in the Eccles, Salford area to sell kittens! Look away now! They all look so healthy, clean and did I mention cute?! Kittens are around the £45 mark. The two people I have dealt with are very nice and put on a show to make the sell but I suppose that's how they make money. The animals all seemed healthy and in although small locations they were clean and hygienic. Also being an independent store the prices are a bit steep as opposed to pets at home but I would rather go here than Pets at Home any day. One thing I will mention the guy informed me the kitten I later bought was 8 weeks and have to having her checked at a vet and by my mother (a formerly veterinary nurse) this wasn't the case. She was 5- 6 Weeks old too young to be away from the mother which does worry me a lot. Shop here with caution!
