I can honeslty say that Sam gave us the BEST customer service that I have ever encountered from such a big corp business. Not only did I leave with an adorable 8 wk old rabbit (which 2 staff members gave a free- quick medical examination), I left knowing that I can always contact the store with any questions/ concerns that I might have. Which for a pet store makes a lot of sense. It also means that they can help you choose which toys and treats to buy them. And there are plenty to choose from! Parking is no problem, there are hundreds of spaces in the complex. Every pet is catered for, and you'll find plenty of bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters and fish to choose from if you are looking to buy! I recently received a free measuring cup when we purchased some guinea pig food which put a smile on my face. Good place for your pets everyday needs. Recommended.

The shop is large and modern and well laid out with good lighting. There is level access and wide doors suitable for disabled shoppers and there are a number of disabled parking spaces at the front of the store. The staff at pets at home are very knowledgeable about their stock and can point you in the right direction for whatever you need. Within the store there are different areas for different types of animals, cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs, hamsters,gerbils, fish birds, equine, and within each area you will find all manner of items suitable for that species. The store also sells, rabbits, guinea pigs, small rodents, aviary birds, and aquarium fish, along with the hutches, cages and tanks necessary for keeping them successfully. They will not sell pets to children without an adult and will give you lots of advice on caring for your pet etc before you take it home. Dogs are welcome on a lead within the store and there are usually several bowls of water provided for them too. Most pet foods and bedding can be bought in bulk packs at pets at home which can be very economical, and as the car park is right outside the front door is an ideal way to get bulky items home, staff will even help you carry stuff out to your car if you ask.

The small mammals section is always well stocked and staff are on hand to answer any question you may have about the upkeep of them as pets.

Though the shop is small in size, they offer an adequate choice of common pets and accessories to keep you well equipped for your pet(s) welfare. I once bought some dog food for a friend of mine here and the price was cheaper than most other pet shops and stores I had compared with. In terms of the quality of dog food, I wouldn't say it's exactly Pedigree Chump but you can certainly find food that contains similar ingredients. The staff are really friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to assist. Whilst you will find nothing special at this shop, it still operates well as a 'no frills' pet shop which is popular with many locals.

However other things, such as the rawhide chews for dogs are cheaper than i've seen anywhere else so my dog is always happy when he see's me coming home with a bag from pampered pets!

The owner is very helpful, and more than happy to try and order in anything if he doesnt already stock it, which in fairness isnt very much. If buying a dog bed he is very helpful in allowing you to go in the stock room and choose the pattern you want as obviously he cant be putting all of them out on show. He has a very strong passion for his animals, and for a small pet shop the fish section is excellent.

My partner and I visited the Westhoughton Pets at Home a couple of days before welcoming a new member to our family (Oakley ). We weren't sure what we needed for a puppy, so we asked Abi for help - and she was absolutely brilliant. Abi guided us through everything, from puppy essentials to setting Oakley up for success. We returned two days later (with Oakley!) and Abi once again went above and beyond - helping us choose the right food, explaining puppy nutrition, recommending toys and training aids, and answering all our questions. Abi is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and kind - you can see her genuine passion for what she does. Having worked in retail as a GM for almost a decade, I know it's rare to find someone who truly cares about the customer experience in this way. Pets at Home - you have an absolute star on your team. We hope Abi is recognised and valued for the difference she makes.

We have used their click and collect service, which can be a bit of a money saver with special online offers, but not necessarily convenient. For example, Mr. Snarky wanted to get a deluxe cat tree for the kittens (secretly I think it was for his enjoyment!) and could save 10% by ordering online and picking it up in store. So we did this. Since we had ordered on the same day and been able to pick up the carriers for the kittens on the same day, we just figured this would be ready same day. Turns out that the order wouldn't be ready until the next day, but we had already set off for Middlebrook. We went in to get kitten food and Mr. Snarky went to look to see if they had the tree in stock. They had the exact cat tree he had ordered sitting on the shelf, but they said that we couldn't pick up the order until the next day. Other than that, the staff are friendly and helpful, especially when we brought back a box of kitten food because it was open, which means it was starting to go off and smell. We bagged it up and took it back with the receipt and they let us exchange for another box no questions asked. They also have a nice selection of cat toys, which of course our kittens play with for about 10 minutes before playing with the box it came in or the kitty litter. We find their prices about average if not cheaper than getting their food or litter at the grocery store and they do have a loyalty card program which is easy to join and you can designate a charity that they will donate to. I might also really enjoy watching the big fluffy bunnies ;)
