Central Bark Doggy Day Care - Puppy after first grooming

Central Bark Doggy Day Care

We took my dog here for grooming a few times. Her previous groomer had a vaccine requirement…read more(influenza) that we hadn't fulfilled, so we rushed to find someone. Central Bark had openings sooner than others (got us in within a week), but their prices were the highest. We took our doodle here three times. In general, the staff seem friendly, lobby is clean, and scheduling appointments is relatively easy. However, on the third time, her tail was shaved for the first so many inches. My husband didn't notice since she was hyper at pick up and they didn't say anything to him at check-out. When I inquired later they informed us her tail was matted and that they meant to mention it in the notes. I don't really know what happened, but I would have appreciated them communicating rather than changing her hairstyle on us. We decided to go back to our previous groomer... in the end, our return to the other vet is $40 difference.

I'm especially appreciative of all the Covid precautions they have taken over the past year. Reasonable prices, excellent and professional services, and an overall great place for pet grooming and daycare. I'm also glad they make the effort to make my dog feel comfortable since he gets super anxious at the groomers. Truly happy to have a Central Bark in Mequon!

Park Pet Hospital - The Patient

After reading many positive reviews, I elected to bring my newly adopted cat to receive a wellness…read moreexam from Dr. Poehlmann. I want to start off by saying I adopted this cat from the Wisconsin Humane Society knowing she may have persisting health issues, but I was (and am) prepared to take on that responsibility. As requested, I brought a stool sample from my kitty. This sample sat with me throughout the entire appointment, and when the appointment was finished, I asked the vet tech about her sample since no one asked for it. I was told, "oh we already have her sample". Obviously that was not the case as I had the bag of feces in my hand, so I asked another tech who came to realize they put another cat's fecal sample under my cat's name. I was willing to overlook this mistake had I had a pleasant experience with Dr. Poehlmann, but I did not. At first she was professional, but then I brought up my cat's health issues and she said, "this is not what I had in mind for a free WHS wellness exam". What an odd comment to make because obviously you can't expect every animal who comes to you to be in perfect health. Throughout the appointment, she continued to make inappropriate comments and grimacing faces when discussing my cat's health. Then, when going over potential treatment options going forward, including an "expensive surgery", she said, "I mean, if you aren't too attached, you can always return her". This comment absolutely baffled me because why would returning her be anything but a last resort? I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt with this comment since I am young and probably appear to not have the financial capability of caring for her appropriately. However, I have a doctorate's degree (in healthcare), and make more than enough to provide and care for my kitty. So no, I don't think this is an appropriate comment to make to a pet owner. Overall, this rushed, unproductive appointment showed me that this vet clearly lacks the compassion to love and care for my cat going forward.

A couple of months ago, our long-time veterinarian, The Cat Doctor (Cathy Christiansen), retired…read morefrom her practice. We did some research and asked a lot of questions from our pet owner/friends and were referred to Park Pet Hospital by several folks. That, coupled with the great reviews we read on line, made our decision to obtain an appointment for our (needy) cat, Jinx. From the first appointment on (after which we've had several due to our cat having a few on-going issues), we feel so very lucky to have found Park Pet Hospital. The folks there are all wonderful, caring folks. We've received services from both Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Poehlmann. They both instilled confidence in us and have been terrific to deal with. Both doctors absolutely are patient, informative, thorough and had "the touch;" putting Jinx at ease. The staff at the clinic are also VERY professional, friendly and handle everyone with kid gloves. Park Pet Hospital is an old school veterinary practice. The facility looks as if its been around for forty years or so, but it is extremely clean and immaculate. Cats have their own door to enter the facility, as do dogs. There is plenty of on site parking as well as available street parking which you probably will never need.

9 or 10 years ago this would have received no stars from me. I have lived in three condominium…read moreassociations, and this is, by far the best. However, at one time it was self-managed, and badly mismanaged, by the residents who refused to be proactive as to the future of the complex. Finances were a mess (no one seemed to be able to account for income and expenses), in part because a lot of capitol was spent on personal purchases with no record keeping. Our "reserve", which is mandated by state law, was alarmingly low. "Paid" staff had very little in the way of work ethics, and there were questionable moral choices which led to compromising situations, and a general atmosphere of bad conduct by a select group of people For many years the dues were held even without a thought to budgeting for the aging of the buildings and grounds. As such, the siding, trim, roofs and fences deteriorated to a point of no return. The trees and other landscaping matured and became unwieldy and, in some cases, dangerous, leading to numerous drainage issues manifested in basements with bowed walls and water damage. The pool bottom leaked and sent chlorinated water into the surrounding areas. Eight or so years ago the Board of Directors brought in an outside property management company to help clean up the disorganization and malfeasance, and put the association back on track. Finances became transparent, the reserve grew, the pool was rebuilt, and trees were pruned and culled with an eye to elimination of those whose roots were invasive. The biggest change was a decision to vinyl side and aluminum trim all the units over a three-year period. A committee was formed which first deemed the feasibility, then went on to look at contractors and materials, and finally to conceive of a way to pay without setting a special assessment (very common in other places). In ALL aspects of this project the BOD kept everyone informed with a series of letters outlining the steps we were taking, followed by individual street meetings to answer all questions. Then we proceeded, and, and based on current selling prices, it is evident that this upgrade greatly affected and aided residents who have decided to move at this time. Condo living is not for everyone. If you want to have full autonomy over your home, don't buy a condo. If you want to pick your exterior colors, your trees, and own a dog which can run free unleashed and undisciplined, don't buy a condo. If you want to accost contracted vendors and keep them from their assigned work, shout vulgarities at other resident and throw your dog's poop under your neighbor's bushes, don't buy a condo. This is a great place to live, with a dedicated, hard-working management company, BOD, and generous volunteers. The buildings and grounds are up to date, and appear as a park like setting. We are financially prepared for the future, but enjoy living in the here and now. I think people who are unclear on the concept can and should move. For those of us who "get it", we are grateful they are gone.

Maintenance of common areas has been adequate. All units have had siding replaced within the past couple of years and there is ongoing roof replacement; all for general upkeep of the buildings. A Lifesaver in a Time of Crisis…read more After experiencing a house fire, our family was faced with the overwhelming task of finding a safe and loving place for our two cats while we rebuilt. That's when Mel at Tiny Tails Lodge came to our rescue. For six months, our cats were in her care, and throughout that time, she treated them with incredible kindness and attention. Knowing that our pets were safe and well cared for gave our entire family--especially our children--peace of mind during an incredibly stressful time. Mel's dedication and love for animals were evident in every update and interaction we had with her. Now that our cats are back home, they have adjusted beautifully, and we know this is because of the stability and care they received while with Mel. We cannot thank Tiny Tails Lodge enough for being there when we needed them most. If you're looking for a place where your pets will be truly loved and cared for, this is it. Highly recommend!

She sent me pictures of my furry buddy every day. When I go on trips, I know Loggins has an even better time than I did. You will not regret keeping your animal at Tiny Tails Lodge where Mel somehow is able to love your pet as much as you do!
