The campground was quiet at night and the seasonal campers were super friendly. The bathroom/shower house was very clean and had plenty of hot water. The staff worked very hard In spite of being so short staffed. The manager Lori was kind and helpful. We rented a golf cart and it was fun and ran well. The park was clean and well maintained. The only thing not perfect was the bed inside our cabin #4. It had a large dip in the middle making sleeping kind of difficult. However floating in that awesome not overly populated pool made it all ok. I highly recommend bringing your family camping there. Whether you have a tent, camper, or choose to rent a cabin. You will have a blast!

I have been going to Blackhawk since I was a little girl. No - I take that back I have probably…read morebeen going to Blackhawk since I was in the womb! Needless to say, for many, many, many years my family made Blackhawk our home-away-from home 3 times a summer. My memories of Blackhawk are all good. There's stories, memories, thoughts and experiences that I would never, ever be able to duplicate anywhere else that I had here. We're talking my first time skinny dipping, hiding in the dryer so my parents wouldn't find me after dark, and seeking cover in the pavilion from tornadoes as we watched the wind and rain rip away and blow around the tents and bits around us. Ahhh, Blackhawk. But this isn't a memoir, so I will stick to the things I know now. "Back in my day" the general store was off the beach, but floods and old age weathered the store and they tore it down. Now the beach looks messy, overused and completely neglected. Campers rarely swim in the lake anymore. This might be because there is now two in-ground pools near the entrance of Indian Village, but I still think the dirty lake is the bee's knees. "Back in my day" the majority of the camp sites were all for transient campers. Now the majority of the campground is permanent sites. There's pros and cons to this. One is that I knew a few people with permanent sites and if you're lucky enough to be in the "in" crowd, you know that having a permanent site and friends all around is like one big family that parties together every single (weekend) night (and the occasional weekday, depending). There is something very special about knowing the right people who have permanent sites here. We're talking late night karting in the woods, drunken bon fires, crazy stories to retell when you're sober in the morning... (Back in my day, they even had a live bear in a cage!) But if you're an unlucky one to not have a permanent site, I can see that Blackhawk would be a pretty boring place if you're in for just the night or two. There's cabins all around now to rent, in Indian Village and near the beach. I've never been inside one and haven't had the pleasure of staying overnight in one, but they look well cared for and large enough for a small family or a group of friends. I love that they put on fun events in the summer, from music to bingo to prom, etc.. It's a fun place if you know where to look, how to get around, and who to hang with. Blackhawk is not nearly as special, clean, or "cool" as it once was when I was younger, but I give it 5-stars because it holds a very special place in my heart. It used to be family run and it was clear they all cared for the grounds well; the point is, they cared. You can tell it's changed hands a few times and even the restaurant is owned by someone separate from the person who owns the grounds. Things seem much more disjointed now then they ever were. My suggestion: stay in Indian Village, on a water site, bring flip-flops for the showers by the beach, bring a comfy chair to people watch, bring a cooler full of beer, ignore the dirty water and dive in to the lake. This place is it!

I paid 150.00 dollars (instead of 5.00 per person). Then returned to ask if we could use their meeting room from Mindy (who claimed she was the owner, and she said she saw my check and I'd course, no extra charge! I tried 3 times to pay her. Sunday arrived and about 20 of us showed up after Church to swim from 1-3pm. Their was no management as the young gals said no managers came in on Sundays. Not even Madeline. So they called us all liars, saying we never paid and couldn't come in or use the meeting room! I kindly said said call Mindy, )who abruptly said we were all liars, and she never met me, or heard of an 8 year old team coming! Mindy said we were lying! The kinder I got the meaner they got. No eye contact... just kept saying we can't come in. Finally they realized I paid, let us in. But five minutes before our trophy presentation Madeline saud, "you can't use it unless you pay thecfull 80.00 rate for 12 hrs use! So I paid the 75.00 she demanded. I thought bring kind would help: it didn't. One kind employee Hannah was kind to me seeing how I was treated and kindly helped me. I tipped her 20.00 saying, kindness and a smile makes you a blessing at any business in front of the mean employees. (They made her give it back). Stopping in the next morning amber at my presence screamed at the top of her lungs saying I never paid, and wouldn't let me kindly say even one word. I pray they gave cameras. She kicked me out, and kept saying get off our property forbidding me to talk to manager Mindy. When reading other reviews, I learned the exact same thing happened exactly to other grandmother's, and people are still traumatized after 3cyears of being yelled at and kicked put by Amber not allowing anyone to speak to Mindy. Very sad as their reputation precedes them I'm learning!. Rita. (I'm just glad God has cameras if they dont) so many comments as to the rudeness if the hals, and others mentioning Amber's anger issues. Read reviews before going there. I hot copies of both my checks and Amber altered my check crossing off the note: Mindy said room was free). A man next to me was wide eyed listening to ambervyell falsehoods at me ! Our boys obeyed all rules and parents were kind even after being called liars. Worst experience ever in my life! Im turning 70 and i know a good name is better than great riches. And I'm grateful God keeps good books.

Horrible place to stay - Unsafe, Unprofessional, and False Advertising…read more This was by far the worst vacation experience we've ever had. From the moment we checked in, it was clear this place is poorly managed, falsely advertised, and completely unsafe--especially for families with children. We booked the 6-8 person cabin and paid additional fees for extra guests, but the cabin barely accommodated four people. We were a group of seven: two couples, one 6-year-old, two toddlers, and a small dog. The cabin only had two full beds and a couch, making the sleeping arrangements completely unreasonable. Over the phone, they told us golf carts were available but failed to mention we needed to reserve them in advance. By the time we arrived, they were fully booked, and we were left walking everywhere with three small children. To make matters worse, the cabin itself was damaged with nails sticking out--extremely dangerous for kids. We checked in on July 3rd. No one explained any rules verbally--just handed us a folder and keys. Later that evening, my husband lit a single firework to celebrate the Fourth of July. A staff member, Eric, stormed over yelling and threatening to kick us out. When my husband and brother-in-law calmly apologized, Eric aggressively escalated the situation and tried to start a fight--seemingly provoked by the fact that my brother-in-law is Middle Eastern. It felt like a clear case of racism and intimidation. The next day, my sister's small dog slipped off the leash for less than a minute before being immediately retrieved. Again, a woman from the office came yelling and threatening to evict us. Then, while walking to the beach with our children, several drunk teenagers came speeding down the road in golf carts. They were driving recklessly and nearly ran over my son and me. Not only was there no supervision, but the staff did nothing to control the chaos. It was terrifying and completely unacceptable. After that, we stayed inside the cabin for the rest of our stay just to feel safe. This place is a complete disaster. It's unsafe, the staff is hostile and unprofessional, and the amenities are nothing like what's advertised. If you're thinking about staying here--especially with kids--do yourself a favor and find somewhere else. Not worth your time, money, or peace of mind.

So- lesson learned on this one... If I could give this place negative stars I would. This location…read morehas about 600 sites... the majority of them are "seasonal campers". But wait- they are not just seasonal- they are RV's with homemade porches attached to them. Don't get me wrong, some of them are decent- but by in large they're almost all super ghetto. There is an 11 pm quiet time that no one enforced. Our neighbors, both nights, we were there... stayed up playing music until well after midnight. This neighbor is one of the "seasonal campers"--- so clearly they do what ever they want. My wife and I decided to walk around and go to the main office- that was an experience. The shanty town neighborhoods in this campground remind me of redneck neighborhoods you'd see in a swampy bayou somewhere in the mosquito infested marshes of Louisiana. Anyway- we get to the main office, where the pool and general store is located. I decided to use the mens restroom- oh that was an adventure. That facility wreaked of month old urine, spider webs peppering every corner of the washroom and all of the webs were filled with bugs. One of the sinks was stained yellow (looked like caked on urine) with a heap of dead bugs in it. Wasps were patrolling the rust stained shower areas... it was actually kind of scary. The site my wife and I were assigned was not amazing. Our immediate neighbor had a 400 gallon (see the picture) above ground septic tank that we got to look at all day... everyday. The huge septic take was a sure draw for tens of thousands of gnats. I wish I would've taken more photos just to show all of you how disgusting and overpriced this dump really is. Take note- the majority of the photos posted here are stock photos and do not reflect this RV camp ground at ALL.... STAY AWAY!!!

The actual campsite was adequate for our 5th wheel. We had forgotten it was Memorial Day weekend and had a back in site rather than pull through as we requested on our online reservation. In the last 4 summers, we have almost exclusively camped at KOAs because we appreciate their locations all over the country, full hookups, dog parks, and amenities. We've been guests at Milton KOA in Wisconsin several times, even renting one of their golf carts one long weekend away from our busy work schedules, and have usually enjoyed our stays. We had a sudden death in the family Friday 6/2, but we were scheduled to stay at Milton KOA June 8-10. As soon as I was aware of funeral arrangements, I immediately called the campground Saturday 6/3 to cancel. We are KOA VIP, so cancelation is supposed to cost us $0. They refused a full refund because I was canceling within 7 days of our booked stay, charging us $54.07. I offered compromises, such as changing the date of the booking, or taking a credit for a future stay, but the young associate who took my phone call wasn't accommodating. I asked to speak with a manager and was told they'd be in Monday. I've since called several times in the following 10 days, yet never once was their phone answered by a live person. I left 2 voicemails requesting management, both unreturned. I emailed with a link to the funeral information (same last name as mine), still no response. So I called KOA corporate to report the lack of management response and disrespectful customer service. They told me to wait 1-2 days, still I've heard nothing from Milton KOA. My next step will be to call corporate again, and send the paper pamphlet from the funeral in US Mail. A death in the immediate family should NEVER EVER be a reason someone does not get a full refund, or at least the respectful option to reschedule the booking without penalty. This campground, unless they fix this mistake, will not see another cent from our family during our many many camping trips. Milton, WI is a disappointment to the KOA brand, where we have been 99.9% thrilled with our other stays from Key West KOA in Florida, to Glacier KOA in Montana. I truly hope they make it right for us, and all future campers who might have a similar loss.
