Took our fur baby tonight to PetSmart for grooming services. The entire process was a breeze. We booked the services online on their website. I snagged a 7pm appointment, love love love their wide range of hours. We booked the Bath & Brush service which includes bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, paw & pad trim, sanitary trim, and anal gland cleaning. That was $22. We upgraded to the Luxury Package which included all I already mentioned plus customized Hempz shampoo & conditioner, teeth brushing & breath freshener, face wash, paw & nose butter, cologne spritz and a bow. That was an additional $35. So our total was $57 and it was worth it. Our fur baby got the best treatment from Ms Ashleigh and we will be returning soon. P.S I didn't have cash to tip so I was able to tip our stylist via cash app which was extremely convenient read more

Great variety of toys. You can never have to many toys. Throughout the year they clearance them out and you can get some good deals. I Always look for the clearance items. This time of year I buy lots of extra and drop them off at the SPCA. I also think they have a good variety of dog outfits. For every occasion. They are ok with dog beds, food, and stuff like that but shop around because other places have a better variety and sometimes better prices. I get most of my dog treats from the zoom room. This Petsmart location is within Landstown Commons, next to the Office Max and down the walkway from Walgreens. The first time I came over here, I ventured the other way and couldn't find it, but I am glad to know it is here now as I can run to pick up last-minute necessities for our cat during my lunch break. I placed a curbside order last week to pick up after work. It was an afternoon where the heavens opened up and the temps dropped 20 degrees, so I was happy to have this option when an umbrella and rain coat were not in my car. When I arrived, however, there was nothing in front/around/near the store indicating where to park for curbside so I had to go inside. I was incredibly perturbed to see the sign for curbside pickup sitting inside the store. I assume they didn't want to inconvenience themselves in the weather and discontinued the curbside pickup.. or they were short-staffed. Either way, it was frustrating. I realize this is a first-world problem, but I would recommend either an email or notification to say "hey, you have a curbside order, but curbside is not available right now. Do you want to cancel?" Yes, by George, I think I would.. or I would probably have just come on another day. And patrons who are still apprehensive of going into stores because of Covid - well, it's an inconvenience for them to not know ahead of time too. Call me petty, but just give your customers a heads up ahead of time. In the future, for regular purchases I'll be sticking with Chewy. read more

This review is for the training services. Anna does most of the sessions. She is skilled at what she does and it is amazing what she can get the most stubborn puppies and dogs to do! We signed for the 6 week puppy class. We signed up for Thursday evenings, which turned out to be almost private lessons because most people sign up for the weekends! Anna teaches that consistency is best, and it has worked through and through for each task my dog learned. (Practicing the skills at home really helps solidify that as well). Once the lockdown is over I would love to get my puppy in more intermediate classes, even perhaps train to be a therapy dog! read more

First bad experience at petsmart ever. I asked Dawn, an older woman about a replacement filter for my tank and she was extremely rude and cranky the entire interaction. In fact, she left us waiting for nearly 10 minutes and was annoyed there were other customers, children with a demand for fish. We were all so excited and it just really hurt our hearts to see a staff member not just so angry and hostile in what they do, but directly to customers. Petsmart is the big box store with stuff for the furry and finned ones in our lives. I've yet to find one that wasn't clean and tidy and well stocked with friendly people working. All I wanted today was two cans of cat food to feed a stray. Yes, I know, we shouldn't be feeding stray cats. I did puppy training for my miniature schnauzer with Anna. I got him right after my 16 year old schnauzer passed away. I was having trouble bonding with him because my senior girl was so calm and affectionate and he was a little terror chasing me and biting my legs and feet, and stealing things from me. Anna helped me learn to reinforce good behaviors so he would stop doing the undesirable behaviors and she also helped me with some tips and tricks for both dogs AND myself to help me bond with him. This is the PetSmart where I met the love of my life. The reason I breathe and wake up in the morning. The reason I keep going and working. It was love at first sight. My cat. She's an absolute princess. This PetSmart hosts a few cats from the VBSPCA. I went there one day back in 2012 wanting a cat, but not thinking I'd actually get one. Three weeks later, I became a proud cat mommy of an angel. ^_^ I may or may not be biased. I love this place. It's full of good memories. There's a Petco five minutes down the road from my house and it makes more sense to go there when she needs food, treats, and toys, but I can't help but go to this PetSmart. I just waisted almost $100 for the groomers to put soap and water on my puppy and throw her in a kennel for 4 HOURS to air dry. They called us and said she was getting stressed and "aggressive" when my husband asked for a refund for the nail trim they wouldn't do they decided to do it in front of him so he could see how she was being, watching from outside the glass I could see both of the women holding my dog in a headlock?! So first they give her a half done grooming, throw her in a kennel for 4 HOURS BEFORE CALLING US and then crowd her and put her in a headlock?! And roll their eyes every time she moved!!! She's 9 months old!!! If you care about your pet NEVER take them here, these so called groomers only Know how to fill out an application and pet a dog and that seems to be enough qualification, I am livid I spent almost $100 for 2 people to mistreat my dog and make me and my husband feel like we don't train her well enough. This Petsmart is pretty standard as far as Petsmart goes... I don't have anything good or bad to say about it - I'm neutral. It has a grooming salon where they'll trim your dogs nails or bathe them and they have food and toys and supplies for grooming and walking and such for your animals. Gets pretty crowded on weekends with people with their animals inside so if you don't like your pet to be around other dogs or cats I'd avoid it on a weekend with your animal... that's what I do. read more

This is a review for the groomers- we LOVE them!!! They take exceptional care of both our dogs, and one of them, Hershel, seems to steal their heart every time. My dogs look great, smell wonderful, and they can always squeeze me in! My other dog, Maggie, receives the best brush out and furminator than anywhere else we've tried- and we've tried a LOT. I have to admit I was hesitant to put my dog into obedience class because I had tried it once in another store location and was pretty disappointed. However, for those of you who have met the trainer Nancy she absolutely amazing. She's definitely very knowledgeable and makes the class very simple and interesting. Do not think is going to be any easy class we took Puppy 2 and when she said it was distraction time she made sure to grab the toys with the most distractions!!! But it was always funny looking at the dogs trying to grab them and look at the owners funny. She always took time to ask questions and also show different ways. Our dog just graduated and we decided to enroll our newly adopted one. We're ready to make our adopted one a therapy dog. In short, for those who would like to put their dog in obedience I definitely recommend this store. I can imagine every trainer there is very good I can only rate Nancy since she was ours and we were super happy! read more

When a member of the household is a vet nurse at a non-profit vet clinic, you tend to accumulate your preferred animal of choice. When I walk in the door and see the tell-tale carrying crate in the middle of the living room I know what's up. I don't have to hear the "we're just fostering these kittens cuz their mommy died" or "this one was going to get euthanized if someone didn't take it, etc. etc. etc" That's how we ended up with six cats. Six perpetually hungry yet always pissing and crapping cats. Most of them gratefully use their boxes. We have a teenaged daughter for the ones that miss once in a while. I don't know what the hell I am going to do when she heads off to college. That toileting aspect of cat ownership is why I frequent this Petsmart on a regular basis. They are the closest source of The World's Best Cat Litter in the huge million pound bag. It really keeps the house from smelling like a Parisian sewer (I'm imagining since I have never made the effort to smell a Parisian sewer). If there is never any of this stuff on the shelf then you have me to thank for your misfortune. I will occassionally pick up some cat food if I don't feel like going to the commissary but not often. Like Nikki said, you can get just about everything here cheaper somewhere else. Just not that big ass bag of cat litter. But I must admit that on those days when my mood is sour those little fur balls can be pretty effective at diffusing my grump. Nothing like a warm, purring kitty on your lap in the evening. I was taking my miniature schnauzer to the groomers her to a groomer names Leelee. I kept bring my dog to her because she was so sweet to him and he practically dragged me to the back of petsmart to her. It made me feel like he was being well taken care of. Well this last time I took him back let me start off by saying she cut him and made his butt very rashy. She called me after she cut him it wasn't even a hour later I dropped him off and said he snapped at me and that he's a inch over miniature schnauzer size so she up the price. She told me the price before I even left the building dropping him off. She said she spoke to my husband the last time about it let me state my husband was deployed for 2 years they don't have his number and he just got home and never new where I took him. My dog will never go back and hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. She should be fired. read more

This is a very well run, clean and efficient store. It seems all the employee's are well trained and enjoy their work and every service is offered for your dog except surgery. We get big bags of food, and I have not seen a better price anywhere. Toys and doggie outfits are pricey, so are some treats and deluxe foods, but overall reasonable. We have a long haired dachshund and they do a great job with her grooming, and she can be a real b**ch! So far, so good with the folks here at this Petsmart, thank you for the hard work and great service. read more

Hey! This isn't such a bad Petsmart. Remember it's probably much more financially smart to enroll in their pet card club because you'll save yourself a bundle of change form their club savings. I found this location to be well stocked and clean. I didn't like the fact that I had to wait 10 min to check out because there was only 1 cashier while a bunch of other employees stood around chatting, but in general a nice store. It's not as big as some of the other ones here in Hampton Roads, but it will help you find what you need for your pet. I was coming here to find new bedding and a gate for my dogs and I found exactly what I was looking for. They offer a stand alone gate that I often use to block off the kitchen where I can keep my puppy. While the bedding was expensive I found them to be extremely durable and long lasting such that I didn't need to buy another one for the foreseeable future. COMPLETELY ANNOYED! My boyfriend and I just recently visited this store to buy some blue wilderness kitten food. We were walking around looking for the kitten food and of course we got side tracked by this beautiful husky that was being groomed. And as we were watching them we noticed a young women that was grooming a dog(I don't know what kind of dog it was, but it was black) and she was shaving him and yanked him really hard and fast to bring him/her closer to her, and I thought it was COMPLETELY unnecessary!! I understand that your grooming, but she had no right doing it that hard especially since the dog was calm and letting her do her thing. Once we ranted on about that we found an employee to ask him where we can the certain kind of food we were looking for. I said "excuse me, excuse me" and come to find out he was on his phone which is understandable because I just figured it was something important. So my boyfriend walked off to talkabout the fish, and talked to Daniel about our beta fish and he was Awesome and gave him all the info he needed. So I decided to see if I can once and for all find this KITTEN FOOD!! So I found another employee a young women.. And she was helping a customer, so I let them finish and once she was done I said "excuse me" and she LOOKED DEAD AT MY FACE!!! And she ignored me and I said "excuse me" even louder and still IGNORED ME!!! So I went up front and had to ask the cashier to help me find the food, and of course she got an employee to help me.. And when he tried to help me he talked to me like I was stupid. I was so fed up and annoyed i grabbed my boyfriend and walked out , and decided to take my money elsewhere. read more

We saw that they hadn't closed the register, and asked them to make an exception and help our pets. What we didn't realize was that they simply didn't care. I feel weird reviewing a huge chain, but whatever. No one else has and I like being first. As you probably already know, Petsmart is wicked cool because you can take your dog shopping with you. I got a puppy for Christmas and he thinks this is pretty cool too. Just be mindful, not all the dogs in there are "nice", so just, remember that. They literally have everything in the universe for your pet, you can get your dog groomed, you can adopt here since a lot of rescues use these facilities for this purpose, most Petsmarts have Banfield Animal Hospital, and as a Vet Tech, I can personally say they do a pretty good job. However.. ALL of these items and services are wildly overpriced. You can literally get anything in this store cheaper elsewhere, including Vet services.. they have a program where you can pay a monthly fee and bring your dog in for whatever, whenever, but if your dog is a badass and never gets sick, that's kind of a waste since most dogs only need an annual or a spay/neuter once in their life. Its kind of a con to make money in my opinion but whatever. Ill go here if I'm in a rush or driving by and need food or something for my furbabies quickly, but if I'm trying to save money, I will go elsewhere. read more

I normally don't visit chain pet stores due to their reputation for staff with little knowledge of animals and questionable treatment of the pets that they sell. However, I needed a quick Christmas present for my hedgehog. Now i've experienced the dangerously inadequate knowledge first hand. I keep a list of safe and preferred treats on my phone for them, since some "normal" rodent treats could be deadly. My phone was taking a bit of time to load so I asked a worker for recommendations specifically hedgehog safe. I was met with a confused look then told "anything on this aisle should be fine". I KNEW that couldn't be trusted. At that moment my phone loaded. If I had listened to her I would have a dead hedgehog Christmas day. Most of the treats would break his teeth due to hedgies having fangs rather than rodent teeth. Of the things that wouldn't kill his teeth, about 75% of it is toxic for hedgehogs. People should not be hired without an adequate amount of knowledge asbout pets, and should be trained to redirect a customer if they don't know an answer. Not to mention inadequate environments for animals I saw in passing. Never again will I visit this chain. read more

I have been to this store many times, but one time it was a bad experience, bad enough to call customer service 800 number. They listened and offered coupons that would expire in about 3 weeks. I declined. They said a customer service manager would call me in 48 hours. After 2 weeks I replied to the email with the coupon I declined and asked if this is how they handle a complaint, sweep it under the rug. They replied to the email and wanted me to call back and tell them again what happened, like I want to relive the experience again. I replied back saying this and told them to call me, never did. I recently took my miniaure Schnauzer into the Landstown Commons store for grooming. The personnel were wonderful but the services and price left much to be desired. Pricing is ala carte so it was $48.00 for a shampoo, cut, ear wipe and pluck, and nail trim. Typically I spend $40 to $45 including a 20% tip for full service at a privately owned shop. I asked that she (the dog) be cut down to 1/4" all over (she hadn't been trimmed a long while). Her coat is now 1/2 to 1+ inches long. Her head, the only place where she is trimmed to 1/4", looks great however. Her nails look good but I cleaned the remaining debris from her ears when I got her home. Oh, and the cut did not include a hygeine trim so her bottom is shaggy, uneven, and thick. All in all, I was disappointed in the results. We are full-time RVers and do not live in Virginia Beach so I probably would not have returned to this store but now I not only don't recommend their grooming services, I will not use PetSmart grooming services again, anywhere. read more
